I'm sick of hearing this "it's the councils fault" from wakey fans why on Earth should the council (or rather the tax payers of Wakefield) pay to buy a ground for a couple of thousand people in a CITY of a third of a million. The current stadium is already used for community where required- a new one wouldn't be of much benefit to the majority of people in the city.
Yes- other clubs agreed to share with football clubs- because it made financial sense to do so and benefits more people.
Wakey did lie- as there was no absolute guarantee that they could have a new stadium and they knew that.
Wakey had their opportunity to share a ground, which would be a much better deal for the tax payer but refused to do so. So you can't blame the council saying well stuff you then!
It may not be carters fault but he took on the club and hence the issues that came with it so can't entirely be called blameless.

well said, of course its their fault they havent got a new ground its up to the club to fight and make it happen, 10-15 years ago they said they would build one and not one brick has been laid for one despite getting 2 licences for promising they would, whatever excuses they give other clubs at the time managed it Wakey didnt cos they didnt make it happen

Look up the definition of lie. Carter has been open about the ground being not fit for purpose and has merely asked the developer to deliver what he promised at the public enquiry and the council to do what they should have been doing from the start and pressing the developer to deliver instead of allowing them to build on the site under a separate planning application

Finally how the hell do you think the john smiths stadium would have got built if it were purely down to the giants to fund it you utter numbskull

We earned our promotion fair and square on the field which is what counts and on field performance should have meant you got relegated on more than one occasion. We were also deprived of our share of SLmoney for first two years we probably should have followed your path and done a sham merger to get a big handout from the RFL

It's hardly new considering it was built 23 years ago and let's see how things pan out now town are loaded with premier league money and their chairman has a charge on the stadium

As for no ambition in 2 years we have gone from MPG game to a two top 8 finishes whilst balancing the books just missing out on Top 4 on points difference this year after regular rounds. All done with lowest spend in SL under Carter, the only thing holding us back is the ground

Where is the evidence we promised to build a stadium? No one could possibly make that statement. The club may have said we have plans to move which we have had but through factors outside of the clubs control have not resulted in a ground being built.

You need to remember this is a sport and on field performance should be the ultimate measure so getting relegated for the state of the ground is not comparable to finishing bottom numerous times and being allowed to stay up

Quite right Tricky on field performance should ultimately dictate who goes up and who goes down however even now it doesn't work like that.

Who goes down is decided over 7 games plus a play off (MPG) as the competition has been abbreviated so in effect the team finishing bottom is not relegated and the team finishing top is not promoted. I believe that Huddersfield should have been relegated last season as we finished bottom of the league at the end of the season.

However that said if you apply that back over the years we aren't the only team by far that would have been relegated but when we were Ken kept us professional and we came straight back up again after a set of play offs.

So again if the top team at the end of the league season is not promoted and the bottom relegated due to the RFL's rules you can hardly blame them as I stated earlier it should be one up one down top up bottom down but it isn't.

As regards the Stadia thing 10/20 years back rugby league grounds were crumbling, Stadia that when built many years ago that would have been state of the art were dumps so the RFL introduced a criteria that part of the membership terms of the elite competition was having or playing in a ground that was fit for purpose as the exposure on Sky TV did Rugby League no favours by showing the game played in ancient stadiums that had not been looked after.

As someone who went to Fartown in the early 60's when it was tired but still sort of fit for purpose it broke my heart to move to Leeds Road and ultimately the current stadium but for fans of both Huddersfield Town and Fartown it was a necessity hence the partnership with the council and both clubs to build and maintain a Stadium fit for the purpose of being used for top tier sport.

Ironically when HTFC came within 24 hours of going bust Ken Davey stepped in to save them or ironically the JS would have been owned by Fartown and Kirklees and whilst in the long term it was right he stepped down and Duncan Hoyle stepped in as Ken due to his wife was claret and gold and Duncan blue and white both clubs have needed to coexist hence the stadium ownership arrangements continuing.

However Wakefield and Castleford have long been given special dispensation to break the rules based on promised new Stadia that as yet have not materialised.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with on field performance it is part of the terms and conditions of playing in the competition long known to all and only two teams now are in breach of the said rules.

Ownership methodology does not come into the SL terms and conditions so if Wigan are tenants and Huddersfield part owners it does not matter both clubs adhere to SL requirements.

So it is not Huddersfields fault that you may face expulsion from the League it is purely the terms of the competition that you play in.

I believe that the league will weaken once again and you will get more time but having been through the 'Sheffield ' thing I would have rather played in the Championship as purely Huddersfield in Huddersfield, as would 90% of the true fans, than in a different town in your case perhaps Dewsbury or Barnsley as eventually the Wakefield erodes away and the necessity to rename to attract local fans becomes essential as in the long term the travelling fan base erodes.

So to close this rather long missive perhaps you should concentrate on getting your own house in order and leave ours alone as from a Stadia point of view it's within the rules unlike yours and you really have had enough time to put it right we did !!!!!!!

The only response to that is you didn't put it right it was done for you which is what wakey are looking for, but some of your fans seem to be under the impression we should find 10m+ quid ourselves to build a stadium. Their view is of course simply unrealistic considering no other RL club has done that even when the economy was in rude health.

It also comes across as some of your ill informed fans think we aren't trying and haven't been trying for a new stadium which is pure fallacy. I would love them to sit down with the guys on the stadium trust (one of which is a wakey fan who for no money has spent countless hours of his own time over the last 14 years along with the club trying to get something done)

There have been various schemes suggested over many years all of which have failed to deliver a new stadium and none of those failures has anything to do with factors within the clubs control.

Finally, without town I believe you simply could not afford to play at the John Smiths as they pay 75% of the overall costs to KSDL a fact I wish some of your less intelligent fans could comprehend when spouting their bile in wakeys direction

I don't care who builds it for you or the councilmen own it but you need one my point is a grant and money from the council put a lot into ours but we have 20% of it but we did it and the numptys on here that try to rubbish it should actually wish you had done it too

You appear to be missing the key point without town you would not have got the new stadium and we don't have a professional football team in the city, if we did getting a new stadium would have been far easier

Because of Town we have a 24,000 stadium which has its challenges for our 6,000 average gates but yours would be 10,000 so surely no where near as much.

I would have killed for a 10,000 stadium on the old Fartown site so yes it helps with HTAFC in the JS but means we have mega capacity we don't need on RL days so I don't except your argument but both clubs needed a 3 way partnership at the time so without having all of the partners no stadium simples.....

I told you where to look. Do your own research- then you won't have to take my word for it- I know you wakey fans think that's how the world works but it works better on evidence not hearsay.

Clueless- Look at all the money RL has brought to the town via that stadium in terms of semi finals and internationals. Who do you think negotiated that? Do you know who Mr Rimmer is?
