At a HGSA meeting last year, Jerry and Bruno explained in quite good detail how our defensive structure is set up and how it seems that it's just a case of the centre/wing getting caught out and misreading when it could be an error 2 or 3 tackles earlier by a player in the middle of the park which causes issues further on, i can't really explain it but those who were there got a good understanding of how it's like a machine and if one cog misses it causes problems, he was quite animated after reading that certain tries were 'his fault' and to be fair explained it very well at the time.

All allocated tickets sold, over 700 according to Wakefield Chairman. Should be a good game....

Of the problem of jerry being turned back inside.
We've had several new /different players playing inside of Leroy and jerry - maybe issues are happening two or three tackles previous...... yet jerry still keeps getting turned. And regardless of what happens prior in my eyes he's standing too far in...

Do we know how many tickets we have actually sold to Wakefieldseeing as there's a big Discrepancy in what you've been told by our club, and what Wakefield fans have been told by theirs.

I don't know for definite just going by what I was told by a board member last night.

And not sure what you're getting at with the Jerry thing, I was just saying how 2 of our senior pro's explained to us how the defensive structure works and who's job it is to do what and how it can have a knock on effect on everyone else if someone doesn't do their job correctly. Doubt they would just make a story up on their way to a meeting to cover up what someone thinks is happening.

If 2 others fail to do their jobs it would mean the winger and centre could potentially be facing a 4 or even 5 on 2 situation, not really anything anyone can do there apart from make a decision whether to try and go for the ball or cover one of the spare men.

I fully get that situation- but that's not the issue I'm referring to, I'm referring to the situation where we are numbered up perfectly fine but our winger is wrong footed when the opposition turns back inside and misses the one on one tackle.

I'm not going to give a welcome warm or otherwise to huby. . Can't blame huby for wanting away from bad memories. But he was never that brilliant for us so meh.

You could say for every tackle missed, it was down to someone earlier missing their tackle. There's no shame in people missing a tackle here and there, ( nobody makes every one ) when it happens fairly often there is obviously a problem to sort. And It's not what people think is happening It's what they see. Nobody is saying drop them.

Well we are still conceding but we can't blame Leroy for any tonight....

Would of been well beaten tonight against a better team but we played well enough to get back into the game.
Defence is a real worry, showed some fight in the last 5 minutes on our goal line though.

Seb, Ta'ai and Leeming stood out for me. Wood also impressed offensively and Rapira looked times fitter.

Brought isn't kicking well enough.. it could be the difference in another match.
Still think Brierly isn't being used to the best of his ability.

Gaskell threw up on the sideline I think. He didn't look right.

I'll take 2 points! Wakefield were unlucky. Thought they dominated the ruck for large parts and spread the ball well.

God knows how we won that, well i do - we got Kruise running from dummy half again, it worked in the 1st 20, we stopped using him, they got into the game, we used him again and won.

Thought we were poor tonight and a decent team would have smashed us tonight, Wakefield are not a decent team, i thought we were on for a trouncing at one point, credit to our boys though for sticking at it and getting something.

We have to get better, we've had 2 awful performances in a row now.

Kruise is getting better every game - give him as much time on the field as he can handle.

i am an exiled fan living in hull so wasnt there tonight. i work nights so cant get to friday night home games, great move by the club!!!!! (or not in my case or in general) But did listen to it on the internet. So for all the people who want to slate my comments then im only basing it on commentary and friends who went. Here goes, brierly doesnt seem good enough for a pivot player. wakeman needs some work weather it be fitness or otherwise but doesnt seem superleague standard at min. Once seb and taii go off we seem weak up front! I reckon we are missing 3 to 4 players of real quality to make us into a force. Having said that we came back from 16-8 down at half time and nilled them in second half to win so fighting spirit is in abundance. Maybe early days etc so hopefully we will improve. great 2 points in the grand scheme of things.

During the period that wakeman and clough were on we looked like a championship side going forward. Neither of these two are anywhere near superleague standard and when we come against a GOOD pack, god help us once we are into the interchange.

I'm not sure that Brierley actually took the ball to the line once in the whole match, and we really are not good enough to afford to be playing someone who's only role is to back up breaks and make an extra passer in the line.

Large periods of the game we forgot to actually move up in defence, even on the line!

Positives for me, were that we showed far more menace near their line, and actually used the possession we got in that area well and converted it into points.

Leeming is a very very good talent, he is still far from the finished article, but his scooting is now very good, and his footwork and ability to feign and pass like a halfback means that he could really be something special. He is still taking some bad options at times, but with more experience he could really turn into a special player.

at least someone agrees with me reguarding brierly! we need a creative scrumhalf not a support player at 7!
