Less of the small man syndrome analysis. I think most sane Saints fans would regard Huddersfield away as a major challenge even with a full strength side and would have done for a good 2 or 3 seasons now. You are one of the big clubs and have been for years now.

If we'd had 12 players out injured five years ago we would have lost. We still lost games even when we were one of only two sides capable of winning the competition. It must be very rare for any team to have 12 missing. It's not just the impact of losing those players, it's the knock on effect it has on the players who do play as they cannot be rotated or rested as you would normally. We've been seeing the evidence recently, the senior players are out on their feet, starting games looking like they've already played an hour.

We're expecting to lose because we're 12 players down on our full strength lineup. No team in SL could go to Huddersfield with 12 missing, including ALL their recognised half backs and be confident of a win.

Nah, we'll duly oblige with our typical shambolic performance in the face of what should be a good win, at home and with chance of doing something special this season...

so you have a good youthful team..it is a very rare occasion when saints send out a poor team.we know what to expect with a full strenght saints team, with your youngsters its a different matter.. hopefully our "men" wont underetimate your "boys" lol

We have a very inexperienced team, yes. While Wello at fullback will be a welcome relief (assuming he is actually fit) we have no halfbacks at all, even our young players are sitting this one out in the stands. So we are relying on a second rower (Jon Wilkin) and possibly Nathan Ashe (a 19 year old who is struggling to return from his own injury and who is a fullback) in the halves. In addition, there is no TP, so it looks like we are going to have to rely upon one of our u20s players in the front row at some point, which is not good as 19 year olds are not built big enough to face fully grown blokes at speed. Still, I am sure our young players will give a good account of themselves and the senior guys will once again give directions!

We only have to nil them and go 172 up to get back to the top of the league... o.0

My post wasn't a dig at Saints fans it was actually meant as a praise to how far we have come as a club, sorry if it didn't come across that way.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by internationals. If you're talking about players who are current internationals who have actually played Australia and/or New Zealand, then there were three: Shenton, Graham and Roby. Wilkin has played at international level in the past, but was dropped for the last Four Nations. Gardner and Wello were dropped after the World Cup. LMS has not yet played against Australia or New Zealand at all. Meli played centre for Samoa in the world cup but hasn't played at international level since. Er, I think that's it.

I think Hudds had more current internationals in their side today than did Saints.

glad i made it back from hols for that back at 3.30 just made it to match, great performance from the lads good to see so many english lads in the team, to me thats our best back line in the club plenty of pace and good defence.

Agree fully, like Wardle and Bruno seems to go well against Saints. Good performance
