| Ken Davy clearly is not making money from the Giants but losing money, he asks why the Town don't support the SL team in the numbers he'd like.
Many good points as suggested, a key one appears to be the on-day prices and as I've said if I didn't have a Season Ticket I would certainly not be doing all the home matches at those prices.
I couldn't afford to not for a my family, as Stevo would say its as simple as that, and I dare say a number of non STH's have the same view hence the lower crowds, we've experienced this year.
I quite like the idea of marketing some of the 'lesser' games at a lower price as these will be the harder ones to attract people in. It is however a balance as he does not and can not alienate STH's, otherwise its a false economy.

Would certainly keep season tickets on sale through the season as even now if £99 ones were still available they would prove good value compared to on the day prices.....perhaps a mid season season is in the offing. Even if the take up is low it is better than nothing and a chance to cash in on our early season success and some peoples personal circumstances when the season tickets offers ended in November might have changed now so a decent offer to watch the second half of the season may tempt some who could or would not renew back.

It is only natural for someone to accept something for nothing or cheap. If I were going to an away game and an away supporter came up to me and said :- My mate can`t come today but you can have his s/t for a £10 note instead of paying £21 as happened to my son at Cas you snap their hand off.
Also at Cas last week my grandson was offered a complimentary ticket off Greg Eden for £15 and he would have had to have paid £21 so he paid him and saved £6.
So the Cas supporter had already paid for his season ticket, but lost a few quid on selling it cheap, but raked a bit back selling it for £10.
And cheeky Greg Eden didn`t pay anything for his complimentary but sold it for £15.
So all this goes to show that Castleford lost £42 on the day from my son and grandson being offered cheap tickets with no effort at all, they didn`t go looking for them, they were approached.

| Half Season ticket might be a good move imo.
I know a couple of people who might take that offer up

| Didnt we used to do a half season ticket before ? i'm sure i remember seeing them marketed quite well too as it included Bradford, Leeds and Saints in it.
Would be a good idea i think as a lot of people didnt renew because they thought we were gonna be poor this year, a half season ticket may just persuade them to come back as we're not doing too bad !

| Quote ="GIANT DAZ"Cheapest adult on the day admission prices at Super League clubs ( seating in brackets if both available)
Bradford Bulls £20 (£25)
Castleford Tigers £21 (£24)
Catalan Dragons €17 or £14.50
Huddersfield Giants £24
Hull FC £19
Hull KR £22 (£25)
Leeds Rhinos £20 (£23)
London Broncos £20
Salford City Reds £20
St Helens £21 (£22.50)
Wakefield Wildcats £22 (£23)
Warrington Wolves £19 (£22)
Widnes Vikings £22
Wigan Warriors £20
Looking at that we are the most expensive ( on cheapest admission only)
and considering the farce of last year its not hard to see why our crowds are falling this year !!'"
not the most expensive if its like for like sat side on...
if people want to stand at the top of the old panasonic stand and pay £19 then fair enough.
maybe if we sold more season tickets in the first place we would have it cheaper on the gate?
half price season tickets may be a good idea but dont want to upset the season ticket holders..

| I just did it as the cheapest available on the day entry as a quick comparison. We dont have the either or option so thats why really.
And i dont think the ST holders would be upset with a half season ticket if it brought more people and money in - and it didnt undercut the original ticket.

| The problem with dropping prices is that KD's figure of 10,000 is obviously based on the current ticketing structure. Lowering prices would mean a corresponding raising of the average attendance required to operate at the correct level. The club would commercially be better off jacking prices higher and trying to attract people with more money and cutting loose those fans who can't afford to attend. This would also have the happy effect of making the club more attractive to blue chip sponsors thereby increasing sponsorship revenue. Win win for the club on all accounts on that one. It's a model that has worked for Premiership Soccer after all.

| How much is it into pink link stand on the day? They did cheap STs for that area so why not do really cheap walk ups for there- that way those that can afford can pay for the side on view- those that can't can still attend but pay less for "poorer" facilities

If they do it cheaper for the home behind the sticks end, then they would have to do the same for the away end, otherwise away fans will be going into the home end or getting very fed up, so could end up with less money coming to the club.

| wasnt it £99 early bird for behind the posts? sure it was.
works out at less than £8 a game... thats cheaper than any pay on the day admission no matter where you sit at any ground.
prob could of split this into monthly payments too
just how cheap do people want it??? free?
does the town want super league success?

Indeed
A deal like that though could run through the season so if someone decides after a few games they want a season they can still pay £99 and get 10 games at an average of a tenner.

Hull fc charge more for away fans that home fans for exactly the same facilities. I feel we could be justified in doing this as there isn't proper cover in the pink link stand.

| Interesting that today in the paper the Town chairman has come out and said season tickets for them need to be over 10k next year
And they are about to be relegated! Wishful thinking on his part I imagine...

If the top tier was open, even if very few sat in there that would be equivalent to the away end and could be one way around it.

and they cost over £400...football fans must have more money than rugby fans eh.. or people are just more willing to pay to watch 2nd tier football instead of top tier rugby... does the town want super league?

Yeah just read about that, and some of the bile that comes out of some of those Town fans on their message board about the Giants is deplorable.

| Debate re attendances - £24 on the day not in the real world and will put of many fans who make a decision to come at the last push. Easter Monday a good example - many families will have spent up over the Fri/Sat/Sun. So this one for me had to go out at £15 with loads of activities for kids to get us 6,000 in.
Tiered pricing taking into account opposition, television, kick off time etc an absolute must.
Town now in Championship a factor ? Well their attendances have gone up but not by much and largely driven by away support. So not sure soccer is tempting sports fans away from RL.
Bad relations between Town / Giants, fuelled by the stadium share issue. A minority hold stupid extreme views on both sides, but not representative of the whole. However, there is a high level of awareness of the share issue among Town fans and it is probably putting off a section of Town support from attending Giants games. At Wembley in 2009 lots of Town fans were in the crowd.
Also noticeable that there has been no marketing of Giants games to the thousands of Town supporters on the ticket office database. From a Giants point of view this is such an obvious marketing tactic you wonder why this hasnt taken place, are we back to the problem of the shares.
So lots to chew on. But as disappointing as the attendances are, the club can't simply question the desire of the people of Huddersfield.
