| Not sure even winning a pot will have the desired effect anymore :-0(
Back in the 60's and before this you couldn't move up Stains road for folks going to the matches, Leeds have ruined RL and proved the league means jack all nowadays so why bother with a season ticket?
Time to reward the league winners more, make the Challenge Cup games closer together and if need be get shut of the GF and playoffs and have a top 4 play off against the NRL top 4 if so desired.
To have a club finishing 5th as champions is ridiculous
As for the Giants we need to get some of these youngsters coming thru fast and forget anymore overseas signings.
Lack of fans will force us to do this and ww could be the 1st all British SL club

| I've always maintained and will continue to do so, that our fan base is never going to increase until it dawns on the wendyball fans that they are supporting an overrated and over hyped spectacle.
But as long as the likes of Rooney are glorified by the media it will never happen. ---- Sad but true!

| even if we win a cup i dont think it will make a massive difference to our crowds...
warrington have won 3 challenge cups in recent times and its prob put 1500-2000 on their crowds... and they dont have a football team.
just have to go with what we have got 5-7k depending if its on sky on a fri/sat/sun etc etc take your pick

| If we ever do win something and it means we get back those from last year who came due to cheap tickets, back to around 7000 and an extra 2000 glory hunters on top then that's a healthy 9000, that would be great!

| i honestly can't see what more we can do to get the disinterested people of huddersfield behind us!
yes, winning a trophy or 2 would help but it seems to me the people of huddersfield will not support the towns number 1 sports team whatever happens.
in fact most people in huddersfield probably aren't aware we exist!

| the diffrence between going to watch a football match and going to watch a rugby match is the atmospher. Rugby is a better game to watch, but the football has the better atmosphere.
I went to the Portsmouth football match yesterday (thats where i live now) and the atmosphere was incredible, and thats for a league 1 team in administration and doomed to go down.
The only time we ever got an atmosphere like that at the giants was when we were not such a big team and were beating the likes of saints and leeds at home 5 seasons ago or so. (it may have been better atmosphere many moons ago when we played at fartown but i dont remember that far back)
Get the atmosphere back and you'll get the fans back, and those that are complaining about not enough fans turning up can be the ones that help to get a better atmosphere at the games.

| don't think atmosphere is anything to do with it to be honest, the atmosphere at town games isn't all that. apart from a few hundred youths with a drum the stadium is very quiet,i have been to 2 derby games there this year and the atmosphere was poor.
the atmosphere at our games is awful i agree but its no worse than town games when there is usually double the crowd we get.

| Atmosphere at our home games is next to none existant these days - unless the team are hammering a top team and then people join in with the Fartown chants.
Gaskell, if available, would be a useful addition to our squad as a back up player i will admit but there is no money and if we are looking at getting players from other teams then we should be asking why aren't we using all our own youngsters?.
As for the crowds i think we peaked in 2010/11 and needed to win a trophy in one of those years to witness a growth - we've missed the boat now as all the ones who came in the expectation of seeing silverware have probably gone back to whatever they did before and we are now left with the season ticket holders and hardcore fans once more.

| First giant numbers. There is potential in huddersfield to have a better supported club. We have been the wipping boys for many years to pretenders the last few seasons. Been able to compete but not consistently. Consistency is key, no good beating Leeds and losing to Salford or beating everyone for three months then losing to everyone the next three! I feel most of us on here have been in despair at times with how the lads can topple the big clubs then mess up against lesser opposition. So if you was a recent convert to the giant ranks bring a buddy style.....they may feel what's the hell! Compete against the big teams and beat the lesser regular and we bring family and friends. Then we may start to see a rise!

| Second atmosphere, best I remember in recent times was round 4/5 of the challenge cup against cas. Only 4500ish there but what a racket! Constant noise from both sets of fans partly because of a hard faught game secondly because our hardcore set made it so!
I sit in the lower third of the brittania rescue stand and those lads at the back do a great job, wether they realise it or not there chants filter down to is closer to the front and get a load of us going! So keep doing what you guys do as it really works.
Been mentioned before the season about having a singers section, maybe that's too much but when the cc rounds come why not see what we here can do, get sat close together and back the lads? Or will we have issues between the people who prefer to sit river side or rescue sides?

| And last gaskel, would be good to get an established kicker but would rather see Connor, lemming or Miller get with the coaches on thier kicking game, not sure what these lads bring but a hooker, standoff and half back, all three play in positions that a kicking game is a pivotal part! So let's get these lads through! Future if the giants!

Ahhh so your one of the singers well props to you! Keep it going because there are a load that join in lower down but need you guys to start us off. My two year old loves it, bouncing on his seat screaming moooove! Good lad he is! But yeah keep doing what your doing our club imo needs you! New fans feed off the crowd....make it electric and they get involved make it dead and......the impression just isn't the same!

| i have sat at the back of the kilner bank and sang my head off for the cause since the very first game v barrow.
as has been said in previous posts, that section at the back has always been seen as the noisy section where most of the singers go,always has been.however the numbers now are depleted with no more than 20 people who start/join in the chanting.we need more people up there really, its all very well joining in at the bottom of the stand but we need more people at the back to get the whole stand singing like we did a few years ago.

| Lots of different opinions about this, which is good, my choice is with those who want to stay in-house, give the 2 young halves a chance. Those who want to buy in, if l had to go down this road l would go for Dobson, we have the quota spot and, he seems to be wasted there, posters have said its all one way traffic, maybe we could have done a deal when Eden, Hodgy etc went, even Fergy. Do we have the cash ? some say the LOD money has gone, ? thats a lot of pay rises, and leaves no room on the cap? l still say sit tight

| WHERE did the LOD money go though? We haven't bought anyone since he left. All we've done is give contracts to a couple of youngsters.

| It will be used to minimise our losses that will no doubt be huge and bigger than KD anticipated on the back of poor crowds so far. The money was never there to begin with. Rather it is one less thing KD has to fund. If anyone has the temerity to criticise him for that, well, feel free to put your money where your mouth is!
KD isn't a bottomless pit and it is unrealistic to expect him to just carry on and re-invest the money saved on L'OD for the sake of it.

| think the LOD money is still available, at the time anderson said they would sit tight and see if anything pops up during the season.
i would love to see dobson at the giants next season or before if possible. failing that nothing cant complain if they want to save some cash and give the youngsters a chance, no one would complain about that if they gave the young lads a chance

| I should imagine the LOD money was swallowed up by the lack of income from season ticket sales. Maybe by keeping him it would have put us in a precarious position financially so the decision to let him go was to balance the books - which i can totally understand and see why there is no money available.

That is probably right.
Ken gambled on success and building the crowds in the last 4 seasons. It has not happened therefore Ken is saying the club have to be self financing. That is why i feel that the NB years were a failure. The disaster of last season and the corresponding poor sales of season tickets meant LOD was allowed to go and the club saved the money.
Not only will we probably not see a big signing again it may well be we sell players and replace them with juniors. Thewlis said at the supporters club something along the lines of we are more likely to be selling than buying.

| We will have to sell, the crowds aren't coming therefore the income isn't coming, Ken isn't going to keep shovelling money in forever, and when we become in serious need of finance then the assets, eg the players will have to be sold to keep the club going.

| Well we only have three overseas players none of them top class. A stalwart in Fuey, a good but not top level player in Chan and T'aii who's a work in progress.
We have built a team on British talent with the odd big signing like Fielden. Settled back line we are a top six team nothing more but with the ability to over achieve on our day. We have a hard core of 5,000 to 6,000 but away support has been dramatically down especially the Hull match and to increase gates we need more Sunday afternoons not stupid Saturday tea time kick offs and the financial climate to improve.
Look at our Easter fixture Widnes that's gonna get people in !!!!
The better weather and some big home games Warrington, Leeds, Saints should boost the average attendance but if we have to sell to survive then it's a four team league, Wigan, Warrington, Leeds and Saints because everyone else is in the same boat I think.
The Challenge Cup and playoffs are one off matches all of which we should be capable of winning if we get our best 17 on the field !!!
We are currently top of the league with 6 more points for the taking if we play anything like followed by what should be 1 v 2 against Warrington considering we were tipped for 8th I think things are going pretty well so let's leave the doom and gloom at home !!!

| Just a quick thought about money and we have or don't.
Pre season we was on the hunt for an established player to partner brough it don't happen so Money not spent there.
Brown went ferres came
Faalago went Taai came
Eden, walker, molloy, went fielden came
Mason went Koppy came
Connor, miller, kruise promoted
Then lod went
So I would say from that lot (educated guess) that of the cap was to spend we would have some brass to spend from the wages of lod but not all ofbit as I recon fielden will be on a large sum but there must have been Money from the half back hunt?
Don't think we should buy anyone go with what we have got and promote from within. Davey should not have fund players like lod, faalago, Simpson who we don't get out what we want of them over the term of their contract. Also the acadamy lad and younger members of the first team cost a lot less, they don't perform ship them out and look to the next crop of youngsters. We need to get our own lads through the system to save brass in the long run!
