I spoke with a very reliable source yesterday. He said Hodgson hasnt asked for a wage increase he just wanted 2 years on the same wage he is on now as opposed to one. Thewlis has alot to do with this and I believe Hodgson will be the first of many to be walking.

Do you think they would have discussed if BH should have a 1 year or 2 year deal? Who's to say he was not offered a 2 year deal as suggested by others on this forum.

I'm sure Nathan has some input someone where down the line as to who he wants to keep or get shut of.

To suggest players are not happy and want to walk then let them go. I find it strange that players are so unhappy that they are signing contract extensions with more players still to be announced.

Yes I am ed off that we are letting BH go but one man dose not make a team.

We'll never get to know all the intimate details of these deals. Maybe agents played a part. Maybe there was some confusion along the way and Brett signed a deal with Wire before discussing the offer with the Giants for whatever reason. Who knows and, to a certain extent, who cares because it's now a done deal isn't it.

I don't think people are over thinking it. I think because of what has happened, the timings of announcements etc, something unusual has occurred. Not necessarily rule breaking or anything but something unusual.

No really a player out of contract next season has signed for another club starting 2011.

i posted about the deal 3 week since and was told a week before that the brett was leaving end of year , club definately only offered 1 year deal on reduced terms as far as i know, no chance of 2. thats the reason he is leaving from what i can gather its to do with salary cap issues for next year.

Well if what you know IS correct Goodie -I can well understand a player whos standards have been consistently of a high rating and earned him "man of steel" award being just a teeny weeny bit miffed about a "pay cut" ---and wanting to see, nearing the end of his playing career if there were other longer term options at his current package ----or more

Look ATEOTD it's simple, Brett wanted 2 years, Huddersfield only willing to offer 1 year.
Good Luck to the lad for the future but IMO it's the right decision, numerous times it's been said and I'll not apologise for saying it again but he will be 33 before he plays a game for Wire.
He has played 7 of 17 games for us this season and is now out for another month missing possibly another 4-5 games? How many games will Brett play in the 2 years with Wire? is it a gamble? who knows and I will be sad to see him go but IMO it's the right decision by the Giants
