Hope he signs for Wakefield. He's still got a lot to offer a Super League Team and I think it was a mistake of Huddersfield to let him go.He's a good old fashioned prop and like Richard Agar said on a radio interview the other day a 'fine player'.
If he is still focused on his rugby league next season then he may prove that Huddersfield have made a mistake like Raleigh & Kirmond did last season. It'll come down to affordability though. We let Matt James go last week & our squad size has been reduced (from about 32/33 to about 2icon_cool.gif I think to try & make space for someone like Mason.

One poor season does not make a poor player otherwise you wouldn't have signed Stuart Fielden.

| Keith Mason - Good Player always had go forward and would make a couple more crucial meters than you expected him too. I think due to injures he had a under-par 2012. He has had his off-field problems too and it looks like Anderson is going to run a very tight disciplined unit next season. So he might not fit into Anderson's plan. It will be sad to let him go as a good servant to the club! BUT a couple of things that might be worth thinking about with the opinions on him as a on-field player.
1. I have only ever seen him do at most 20 min stints as a prop - with bigger props to do this job now at the club and with the fewer interchanges available I dont really see his place in the squad.
2. His on-field discipline was awful - always liable to give a penalty away and a number of times he had to be taken off before he got himself sent off!
3. I have never EVER seen him play a game and any decent minutes without making an error. He had butter fingers at time.
How often do we see penalties and errors costing try's and therefore the game??? This is why he never at the top of my list of forwards to pick throughout all of his 7 years. Personally I would prefer a prop that wouldnt make those extra couple of meters but was solid and wasnt going to give the errors and penalties away.

| But Good Luck to him and he could give some massive go forward to a team who really needs it. I think of teams like salford, wakey and cas. He would be a real asset to any of these teams.

Who knows KM might still have been in PA's plans but for this episode, which of course is now in the hands of legal types.

| statement from club. "Huddersfield Giants can confirm that Keith Mason left the club on the 4th of October," the club said in a statement.
"The matter is in the hands of solicitors and, therefore, the club will not be making any further comment at this time."

| Also said in that piece that KM was NOT in PA's plans for 2013.
Been mostly happy with the hiring & firing from the club in recent seasons myself.
Hindsight etc. but Brett Hodgson was the one I would have definitely liked to have retained, and Daz Griffin. But both of them lads wanted out seems to be the truth of the matter

| 2010 when we played Hull FC at home. Hull came with a huge pack and we were so short of Prop forwards we played Graeme Horne in the front row.
We went 0-18 down at half time but came back to win 32-18 and Keith Mason was my man of the match, the minutes, yards, hits and aggression he showed in that game (along with Griffin) to take the team forward was a fantastic effort.
Will be sorely missed, all the best for the future Keith.

He's a good player whether he will be missed will be down to how he plays next year. 31 is not old for a prop.

| So other than he left the Club back in October and there is some legal wrangle going on, is there any indication as to where he might be going?
I have seen speculation about Bradford, Castleford and Wakefield, but nothing seems to be firming up and Mason himself only seems to have confirmed his departure.
I think there are plenty of Widnes fans who would like him to come our way, but I suspect he might be looking to stay in Yorkshire. No doubt as an alternative he could return to St Helens especially as his former coach is now in residence.
Or indeed maybe he will do a "Vinnie Jones" and look to start a Hollywood career, under Micky Rourke's guidance.

I think Wakey are favourites to get KM. Bulls could be an option, Cas Tigers are skint, can't see him going to Saints but Widnes must be in with a shout.

| He was on radio frequency this morning along with Keith senior-
He also talked about last year and said stuff happening seemed to upset the boat (such as kev going) mentioned people getting sacked but didn't refer to himself or what has happened to him personally that means he's going. he again thanked all the fans at the giants for their support and that we had made his job easier over the last seven years-said his agent was looking at options and it should be sorted in about two weeks.

When you read this it would appear Wakey don't remember if they have spoken to KM's agent or not:-
www.wakefieldexpress.co.uk/sport ... -1-5175843
Very strange talk from Richard Agar. Could it be Wakey who have tapped him up and the reason for the dispute with Hudds ?
