If we get nilled again I feel Stone may end up resigning before his marquee signing has even played a game for the Giants.'"
That's a realistic view, there has been nothing in what we have seen this season yet to suggest otherwise. We can hope of course and sometimes when you least expect a top performance is just when you get one, We did it a couple of times last season, but being honest Wigan and Cas look different class to most sides, Not expecting much but will be happy to be surprised.

| Great effort, played as a real team today, showed togetherness and got some reward.
Loved the selection changes with Gaskell move and McIntosh coming in. Not the only contributor, but shows how much Brierley has been stifling the play this season so far.
Still a slight concern over decision making in attack, but fantastic effort...let's carry this monemtum into next week against Leeds (and let's hope Danny is still with us then too!)

| well thats more like it, some positives to take from today..still lots not to be so happy about either mind
we would have taken a point at the start of today lets be honest but wigan were there for the taking today and once again we failed to take our chance, out game management is diabolical and has been for years, we cant close games out of make right plays/decisions, thought bringing in hinchcliffe would have helped but hes the same as the rest. no wonder we havent made a grand final or won the cup, we cant deal with the pressure, especially danny brough.
brough missed a kick straight infront of the posts first half then missed a drop goal at the end
on the positive side.. that point could well come in handy at the back end of the season.
mcintosh was solid under some stern pressure from wigna with bombs etc and handled it perfectly
gaskell at half back is def the way to go, credit to stone for changing the team , wasnt working with brierley
look forward to next friday, welcome back ferguson which should help our attack again

Hinchliffe is becoming a bit of a liability for me he panics more than anyone on the field at times. He costs us a try per game. He wouldnt be in my starting 17 if all players were fit. Quite frankly id love him to go home a year early and us use the quota spot for either a winger or a prop.
Very frustrating to win the game and missing the penalty to go 8-0 to then concede and knock on in our next set sums us up a club really. We are a very frustrating team to watch because we are our own worst enemy.

yep, should have been 8-0 and end up 6-6
remember wakey 12-0 up?
we just cant manage a game, we had the ball in the 2nd half with 8 mins to go and throw an offload and lose the ball?!!?
brough kicks early in the tackle and its a garbage one and wigan get the pen and leeming sent to the bin
really frustrating but its been going on for years, why we have lost all these semi finals and finals , we cant cope with pressure, maybe its brough , he didnt deal with it today again

I love Brough and appreciate everything he has done for the club but I would like this year to be his last and start to plan for life without him.
Who knows Jamie Ellis if stays lean and fit and Lee Gaskell maybe a good partnership ? That would also free up alot of cap space from Brough as he will be on more than Ellis to get either another prop, winger or centre.

| Agree about Brough. Although he is generally our best player on the pitch (although maybe not as much recently) i do feel that he stifles those around him somewhat, and for all his brilliance he really can't cope with pressure situations. Put the two together and this is why we often lose close games. Other players feel that brough has to be the one to make the calls and he often doesn't handle those situations well.
That being said he is the best player i've personally ever seen in the claret and gold since i started watching during the Murphy era, but every dog has his day!

| This Brough bashing is hilarious.
My eyes must be going funny because I swear I just read something about getting Ellis back in to take his place. Equally hilarious.

I don't rate Ellis personally but he may work well with Gaskell. However to replace Brough we need to sign someone of better quality than Ellis.

Brough can win us games single handedly, still does
Though I think he needs a strong halfback partner to lead the team up field, Robbo did that job and imo was why we won the LLS
Brierly has a mass of talent but is dominated by Brough into second fiddle, maybe Gaskel has shown q bit more strength - maybe Gaskel and Brierly is a better combo still? Or at least where our future lies
Brierly will be back. He has too much talent, Brough is still one of best half backs in the game though

| Was feeling positive on way back but reading this enough to depress anyone! Not perfect by any means but a massive improvement....great commitment, better attacking wise and Gaskell showed who should be half back with Brough. Minimum standard set, build on this and we'll be fine....personally thought everyone contributed and should really have won it in the last few mins.
How many expected a big defeat? An unexpected point gained...credit where credit is due!

| I thought a draw was a fair result in the end, I thought you were going to snatch it with your last set of six but a great chase on Brough to put him off saved us, a bit gutted we went wide in our last set with next to nothing on the clock, a couple of drives and then a pot luck drop attempt from half way would have been my call.
Can't complain though, as Wane said after the match, "We got away with it".
Turned into an even better point when we heard the Salford/Cas result in the car

Being honest i was expecting a big defeat going on what we had seen from both sides, needless to say Delighted with what we did get, Won't get carried away because we did that a few times last season but it shows they have it in them to compete, and something for RS to work on.

i agree
gaskell had a perfect chance to drop a goal at the end but its like hes scared to have a go incase of a brough backlash
think the last player to have a bash at a drop goal was cudjoe against leeds, guess what ..it went over!!

| 1st thing i mentioned on leaving the ground was how once again bad game management has cost us again.
Apart from that there were some great performances and some great attack and defence too.
play like that against Leeds and 2 points will be ours.

he soon got his players onto the ref at half time again....
