| ok, but who exactly are the targets and why would it make more people come or become interested? thats what i'm trying to fathom and surely if people are interested in us they will already be friends or whatever you do with them?
i dont understand twitter so no idea how it works regarding people getting this sudden interest in Huddersfield Giants because of it, sorry if i'm sounding ignorant about it !
Edit : so arent the giants on twitter then ? they're on facebook arent they ?

The target audience is people who aren't currently attending Giants games and also those that are. In general, everybody

| I didn't even know we had a Facebook page, and I'm 24..... The twitter feed is ok, it would be good to see them use old footage such as big hits, memorable tries etc.
For example in the first weekly round, they could use a line such as 'on this day in 2013'.... and then a link to a giants YouTube channel with Jerry's try against saints with the sky commentary.
It all creates awareness and shows what we are capable of on the field.

| some good points
the players themselves have lots of followers, they could help on twitter spreading the word, which i have seen them do recently actually
crabtree has 29.9k followers.... more than huddersfield Giants themselves
the club needs to be different and use initiative and ideas such as above a good.
big hits from games and great tries could get hundreds of retweets/shares and go viral all creating interest.
sure we had a few different pages on facebook too at one point, bit confusing but think the club have merged them now and made an official one.
hope someone from the club reads these posts!!

Exactly.
One tweet won't increase the supporter base, but it is the first step on the purchasing ladder. Without awareness, followed by more awareness, and interest etc, we will not get more supporters ( or dare I call them/us customers)
My lad won't go and watch any other team than the giants, but in terms of getting him to turn up on Sunday's, Thursday's , Friday's with more of his friends , we are competing against his x box, the TV , the warm of the house , Sky , and many other distractions.
He wants to be associated with something progressive and modern. ( ....and soon I know it won't be cool to go watching the rugby with his dad!)
The beauty is that we have the sport (product?) that appeals to both traditional and new fans, but how we approach those two important, but distinctively different sets of people, needs to be as different (as they are).

| There are quite a few Facebook pages for the Giants. In view of various comments on RLFans, would there be anything to be gained by 'merging' them all so that there is one focal point for ALL Giants fans?

I one per cent of those who saw it and that someone they knew was going to a game and decided to give it a go that would be 15 people who might come that would not otherwise.

| This was brought up at HGSA's meeting with the Directors this week. The result is that the club will welcome volunteers to go to the stadium on a regular basis and use social media in all forms to promote the club. PM me or contact James Brammer direct.
People want something doing, now's your chance!

We don't have the same size backroom staff as Leeds, Wigan, etc. As Daz says, there is someone new, but he is not full time on social media. So, to help the club out, volunteers can can approach the club to see if they can be of use.

| yep not a big backroom staff, again goes back to us being a small club compared to the other big boys and us punching above our weight.
Same reason we arent in this weeks WCC, club cant cope.
Same reason we cant afford to put on a home pre season game.
think us fans expecting us to win something anytime soon are in for a long wait, we are going to have to be happy for a top 8 finish i feel.

| Okay Brearley, let's have your recipe for success.
So, as I see it according you, The coach can't, the captain is crap, the vice cap is over the hill, the three-quarters are all garbage, the new prop was a waste of money, our !st choice fullback has always been dodgy, and now you tell us our backroom staff are useless.
So tell us do, will we have a better chance just playing Murph Gerry and Connor?

Add to that the board should be throwing money it hasn't got around so we can see an extra friendly match - against either SL opposition or NRL, either way it's the same !

| vicious circle isn't?
club need more supporters to improve finances,
club to need to improve finances to attract better players/staff etc,
people won't come because we aren't sucessful,
we can't attract quality backroom staff/improve marketing etc due to lack of finances,
none of these are likely to happen unless we get success on the field.
we simply can't compete with Leeds,Wigan,Warrington,St helens, but we more than hold our own against them and have done for a while now, yes we are punching above our weight.it might seem that people are happy to accept mediocrity, but in reality that's where we are, we are a small club that has steadily built the club up over a number of years to become a competitive team, unfortunately people don't want a competitive team they want a winning team and they want it now!
but, again, the reality is, it isn't going to happen until the vicious circle stops and more people get behind the club, but that's not happening because people want to be associated with a succesful team.

| The Beauty of Social Media is that it can be a great leveller in terms of exposure. With the right tools and the right know-how, anyone can build a following and get an excellent level of exposure using Twitter especially. Twitter is an open, exceptionally interactive and immersive experience that allows a direct line of communication between diehards, casual fans and those just interested in the club. It can also, if used correctly, allow a massive expansion in your brand recognition which makes you more valuable to sponsors.
What Huddersfield have to do is make sure they interact with their fan base and make even the ones who'll watch 2-3 games feels intimate with the club. I know PA is quite protective of his players, but a few interviews over the course of the season, in video format wouldn't do the club any trouble and have the possibility of going viral, as has been said. Maybe over easter, do some easter eggs and link the videos to tickets for the Easter Week fixtures? Have a pinned tweet linking to the ticket homepage at the top of their feed - could flog 60 tickets, but that's 60 more than we would have got.
Also, if you want to expand your reach on Twitter - TAG THE CLUBS INVOLVED IN THE TWEETS YOU'RE SENDING! I mentioned this to the club a while back, if Huddersfield have 17.7k followers, and they tweet at Wigan (50k followers), and Wigan retweet it, it's going to be reached to a total of about 55,000 people, if they hashtag #RLNewEra or #SLWigHud, they could reach another 2,000. It's all about adding your reach together, and maybe picking up a few more followers each week, and eventually you could have a good 45k followers.
Twitter is about the little things, that Fartown currently don't do. (Like lots of elements of the organisation)
