| I can't believe anyone on here is surprised, the thing that surprises me is that it has taken so long. Half the people on this board have been calling for this all season, ( some of us before that ) It was a matter of time before Mr Davy's patience ran out, All this ( he just needs time to turn it round stuff) is OK when you are not footing the bill.
I hope he gets another job soon, and I'm sure he will, Just hope we can find the right man to take us forward, Another N Brown would do me fine , but one not prone to strange behaviour . We shall see in due course, Things can't get any worse and may get a lot better.

As the Resident on all things Giants who would like as our new Coach ??? It was time for a change despite it coming late. Anderson had lost the players trust and had become a puppet to Thewlis.

| It wasn't that long ago you touted yourselves Yorkshire number one. Strange how things change in such a short space of time. Anyway have fun.

| Think this is absolutely shocking timing given recent events. No one at the club has been given time to grieve and reflect together.
Anderson names a squad and then is sacked? Or has kelly actually named the squad? In which case it's the same squad anyway. How is sacking him now going to make any difference to the game that will take place a day later anyway.
Poor I think by the board.

| I personally don't think this will have come as a major surprise to PA, I don't see Ken Davy as the sort of man to drop that on him without some prior warning, at least he doesn't strike me that way.
I take the point about timing but I just don't believe this will have been done without due regard, could be wrong of course.

I agree.
PR almost single handedly rebuilt Leigh Centurions from near Championship 1 & financial oblivion, galvanised a team & got that team *who were at best average* playing well above their station, then developed the team year on year to being the most dominant & exciting team outside SL.
While he did leave us [i up $H!T Street[/i with only 10 days to go to the start of a new season, it has to be remembered how far he brought the Club & the quite dramatic changes he made.
Paul is contracted to [iToronto Centurions[/i next season but I could see him doing a job for you to end of season, this would provide your board with the time to scour the Earth for a permanent incumbent of the hot seat.
IMHO it was a mistake to sack [i*both*[/i Ando & Kieron (as I have stated on the VT).
When Rowley dropped us in the S#!TE, his understudy Neil Jukes stepped up to the plate & rather than continue with all of PR's tactics & plays he retained the stuff he liked & introduced some of his own, it could be argued that we are now a more rounded yet less exciting team but so far the boy done good.
The point I am trying to make is that Kieron Purtill could have done the same as Jukesy did, it may be that he & Ando did not share [iall[/i of the same beliefs on plays/stratergy etc.
PR could be just the shot in the arm that the Giants need, albeit on a temporary basis.
FWIW as a Leigh Fan obviously, I am hoping Kieron arrives at Leigh sooner than the planned 2017 season as I believe he will add more quality to our coaching set up.
Good luck against everyone else but us in the 8's.

Also heard last Sunday,Lee Gaskell is a done deal.
BTW,sorry for Paul, this seasons collapse is not all down to him alone.

| I am surprised at this DECISON unless something dramatic has happened.
There have been rumours that he has lost the dressing room for ages.
What I find bizarre is that unless something has happened recently why sack him now when he offered his resignation a few weeks ago and Thewlis apparently turned it down.WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER TO LET HIM RESIGN RATHER THAN SACK HIM.
At least it gives us a chance to finish now slightly higher up to get an extra home game. Plus it allows a new coach to work withe players for the big games coming up.

By far and away a worse coach than the one we've just got rid of. We really need to be stepping up from Anderson or get an IP and coming coach really. Mcbannana would be a bad choice too. Toovey would be my shout from the names I've heard but I'm sure there may be other Aussies available.

| What's brad drew doing these days? Genuine question, as i wondered if he was playing second fiddle in the NRL somewhere?
I'd rather not harris/macnamara/demitriou wouldn't seem like a step forward.

| Should also say, Anderson has done a good job with us as far as I'm concerned, the league leaders shield, belittled as it is, is the only piece of silverware I've seen us lift, and it's one of the best memories I have.
This season has been filled with failings for all to see, the Ferres saga, the small squad, the rumours of unrest, condition team changing for reasons no one seems sure of, if these are all out or Andersons hands I genuinely feel sorry for him, but I'd imagine he has input.
Anyway, thanks for the memories Paul, this season aside I think we have progressed as we have through Smith/Sharp/Brown, hopefully time to kick on again.

Seeing as Purtill is coming to you next season- and that had already been announced it would be daft letting him take the reins-nothing in it for him and actually could argue a conflict of interest.

We should have the younger Wardle brother up and running before next season along with Wood and MacKintosh.I would have let Joe go and got a fee for him unless of course with a new coach coming in he might start playing well for the time he has left on his contract.

Jon Wells?
Phil Veivers?
Why would we sign Gaskell when we already have Ellis, Brough, Wood, Brierley, Connor, Leaming to name but 6, who can play half back. Ellis to loose forward?
We saw on Friday despite the Grix haters, that Brierley is no full back, but played well when brought on at half back against Cas.
