| Quote ="Durham Giant"i am not going to have a go but be open about it.
If there is discussion in the club, if the club have asked the HGSA to canvass opinion, if the HGSA are wanting to raise an issue about how to inmprove attendances then fine.
Just as long as the club then think about a change in direction in marketing and plan it properly then fair enough.
It is fearly clear then that it will affect those with families and children therefore the marketing over the last 10 years needs to be binned.
Forget marketing at families and attract a different group.
Everyone knows that the new market will have to be 16 to 30 year olds,
What plans do the club have, what have they thought about to get these people to games.
Just announcing a change to Fridays with no marketing plans will be a disaster.
Tell the club to think about that before they start planning some dramatic change.
Most of us accept that the club have no alternative but to become a friday or saturday night club because SKY are forcing us to.
The situation we have now where we are a thursday , friday saturday, Sunday club is a disaster and pretty much p!sses fans off.
But for Christs sake i hope that the club do it properly.
My idea would be one free pint for the first six games ( or at least a half price voucher of some sort) for those who buy a season ticket !
That should get a bit of interest going !
It would not encourage me as i would not drink the p!ss they serve at the prices they charge.
Maybe we could all bring our own booze and they could charge for Corkage !'"
I've told you exactly what happened. A group of people were talking about how the club could increase the fanbase and this was one stopic of the converstaion. Nothing more, nothing less. The club have not started talking about next season's games yet.
On that last point, that's why there are officious bag-checkers at every entrance.

| Personally i don't mind any day but ...i think we have seen that whatever day/time/price/ etc has no effect on our crowds, they are poor and will always be poor.
We can get crowd numbers up simply by lowering ST or matchday prices but that will lose money so the club won't do that !

| the only was i feel to improve on crowds is to go all out on the marketing front, obviously events on the pitch would help too, it worked for bradford and keighley, it could work for us, we need the club to push it as an event not to be missed, something that people can buy into easily ( and fairly cheaply )
i fear we missed the boat though, although i understand the need to increase ticket prices, it was just the timing was bad,in the middle of a mid season slump that we never recovered from, we should have been pushing the boat out in 2010/11 but we didn't and now we are seeing the effects.

| Quote So far this season, 5 matches will not be played on a Sunday, and that is without any future Sky changes. The general feeling is that people are not prepared to pay for a season ticket when they do not know when matches will be played.
'"
We've only had 1 Friday game so far this season and only had 1 last year. So that point is a little bit moot. Sky have televised games on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday over the past few seasons. The evidence would indicate that moving to Fridays would not significantly alter the amount of re-arranged games we are likely to have.
Plus on Fridays we would be directly up against the live SKY match every week. Leeds, Wigan and Saints may be robust enough to survive that clash but our crowds aren't that loyal in the first place. A few bad results and it will just be one more excuse for people not to turn up.

| I thought that we moved to summer RL so the players would have better fields to play on and better conditions for us speccies so now it seems we will be watching our RL under floodlights.I am well aware that Sky rules the roost but I for one am getting fed up what with the interference with rule changes etc and now changing matches at their say so that I make no wonder that we cannot increase our fan base. There are a lot of fans that cannot get to Thursday and Friday matches, the more they bugger about with the rules and game schedules the more the fans will walk away and will not buy season tickets.

| interestingly, saturday's crowd was the lowest v london/harlequins since 2008!
it was the first sub-5000 crowd against london in that time too ( not including the cup game in 2012)

| First home match well Catalans apart any match I've missed for ages but had something booked before they changed it. Better remember to keep the stub for next years ST.
Gate is the usual 5,500 for London less people like me. More there than I expected.
Still a better crowd than Wakey even with plenty from Wigan. Dr Marwans lot would have struggled to get 2,000.
See you all at Hull KR !!

| Prefer the games on a sunday tbh, gives you plenty of time to travel to and from the ground as they are on an afternoon. I would struggle getting to Friday night games consistently. Although i do enjoy the odd thursday game thrown in.

I didn't know about this survey, thanks for plugging it. I would be interested to see what the results are.
