| what it comes down too is season tickets vs day price
you cant have day price low as people will just stop buying a season ticket and pay on the day.
anyway its £21 not £24 if you pre purchase/click and collect.
its expensive at other grounds too its not just the giants, go to away games and you will see

i see what you are saying but as a sport not just the giants we are trying to grow ,so are we just to conseed that its an expensive day out and just deal with it, am sure most die hard fans will do just that as long as funds permit, but reading a few peoples coments already it has been pointed out that even fans of many years are moving away from the sport,
and you talk of this click and collect just sums up my argument about marketing iv been a fan all my life and had no idea it was 21 quid click and collect. you seem to be trying to defend the giants my point is not that we are the bad guys but however there is a serious problem that needs adressing.

| brearley, the point is that people who aren't regular fans and who just pop down for something to do won't be aware of the pre buy or click and collect and who turn up and aren't aware of the gate prices could be put off spending £24 when there are other things, cheaper things to do.
this is some of the problem people have, it's just assumed that everyone is aware of the giants and when we play and how to get tickets etc everything from the club is aimed at existing fans, the stuff on twitter and facebook is only relevant to people who follow the club on those sites, likewise the emails they send out are only sent out to people who are already fans.
i do agree though that in the past people haven't turned up for the promotions, but apart from the club website/twitter/facebook where are these promotions advertised?
i know the marketing department has been cut but for me the club don't and haven't done enough to attract new fans or to appeal to the huddersfield public, it's usually up to us fans to bring new people along, and to inform people about promotions etc.

| I'm a wire fan living up on taylor hill. Work etc means I don't have a season ticket. when wire are up here and I'm off work I'll get down to the match. First time in about 4 years, the stars aligned and I could go the match the other week. I looked up on the website, saw 24 quid, closed the website got a beer from the fridge and parked myself in front of the tv. If a fairly die hard fan is put off by the price, then what chance have you got attracting joe public & family?
I can't say this for every club necessarily, but go for a walk around warrington any day of the week and you're guaranteed to see replica shirts, hats, coats etc. on top of promotional stuff in shop windows, and billboards advertising upcoming games.
In Huddersfield there's next to nothing. On home matchdays, you see more away shirts in boozers around town that home shirts. You have a town that simply isn't interested in the club, and until you get some decent marketing folk to tap into the thriving uninitiated student, eastern-european and asian communities then you won't get the attendances desired.

Agree with pretty much everything here! There doesn't seem to be a buzz about the Giants, but this is the most successful team in years! So something is wrong here!
Me, my dad and cousin have been going to watch Giants for nearly 10 years now, I usually get tickets from the university as I am a student, but with it being bank holiday they were closed. So we turned up on the day and couldn't believe an Adult was £24 and a student £18... The reality is people don't want to pay these prices. And for people saying even if it was £10 people wouldn't turn, that is irrelevant to what people are trying to say.
Personally I think £20 for an adult £15 for a student is pretty acceptable. I would be happy to pay that anyway. But to pay £24 for probably the most boring game I have ever seen cannot be justified.
So me, my cousin and dad have had to agree if I don't get tickets from the university then we won't be attending games.

| Just to be clear, I do realise that the university sell tickets, but they certainly don't advertise that fact. The giants brand has pretty much no exposure on the campus, except for the 'store on 4' which is a tiny newsagent style shop tucked out of the way of everything

| Price is the least of the Giants' worries as far as I'm concerned. I've got a season ticket but I will not be going to watch again due to the poor level of entertainment that I witnessed agaisnt Hull KR and Warrington. A number of the players have been quoted as saying the team needs to peak for the playoffs and I suspect that this is impacting on the level of fitness and the intensity that the team is showing. If Huddersfield Giants want me to watch then they have to play to their optimum week in, week out. If there not willing to do that then I have more important things to be doing with my time.

There are a few flyers lying about that nobody reads too! Also the store on 4 has closed down now. Giants tickets are purchased from the new student union near the library

| what mostly has or is being said on here now is confirming my origenal point weather its to do with money or entertainment value theres quite a few unhappy people for one reason or another, I will state my origenal post was not to spred negativaty as negatiaty spreds negativaty, but when people are un happy about something but then go home and sulk about it and say nothing ,well nothing changes.it was more my intent to find out how other people felt and hope theres a slim chance theres someone who could posibly voice these concerns to the club or maby even the club myt read whats been said on here. i no over all it seems like moaning but when you care for your team as i do, but can seen blatant flaws mainly in the marketing of the club i believe im within my rites to complain. god knows how many thousands av spent following them to earn that rite.

| James Brammer and his team always seem to listen to what's been said, might be worth emailing any concerns, although judging by conversations i've had with him he knows what the problem is and finding a solution to it costs money the club don't have at the moment.

| I'm not really interested in football. I'm pretty sure that town carry out a great deal of marketing - can't say I've ever noticed it - don't know when they next play, who they play or how much it is - and that's from someone who visits the stadium a lot! like many people I ignore a lot of advertising - because it's advertising! That's the problem we have to somehow crack!

| Being someone like I am I've yet to see anyone turn up on the day and walk away due to the price, I have been spoken to by fans querying whether there's a cheaper alternative entrance price and when told no they grumble but still come in!
At the saints game they had a promotion and the promotion price remained for the north lower yet folk paid the extra on the day price rather than the tenner! Despite that being a massively discounted game folk still didn't show in mass numbers! Ok it was the bbc but still two big teams at a tenner was quite a bargain!
Think many clubs are cashing in on pre orders rather than the average walk up fan as we all find prices rise when we go away and yet a family attending an away game would find it relatively cheaper for the adults than our walk up price but then find out the kids are £14!!! So a family of four can pay out around £70 so £48 is quite a difference!! Do we chop the adult price and introduce kids paying? So maybe the on the day prices are in fact paying for the new generation to be allowed in for free! Do we really want it both ways? Would these families still show up if the kids weren't free?

| The 'Click and Collect' has been mentioned on here many times since it was introduced.
To the people who are having a go at the club, a serious question, are you willing to help in any way? Perhaps you'd like to join HGSA and help promte the club and raise funds through that organisation? Would you be willing to help them sell some raffle tickets where the first prize is a day with the Sky team at a match of your choice?
You could even put your points directly to MD Richard Thewlis on Tuesday 6th May at Turnbridge WMC when he is HGSA's guest speaker.

after starting this thred i felt i should have a think about what i would actually do to inprove the situation myself.
my first idea was as you say to use the die hard fans to better efect not to neseseraly use them as free labour but encourage them and help them do what they do anyway but on a bigger scale maby give them some offical tital with benafits rather than pay them a wage. when i was starting out in premoting nyt clubs ect i used enthusiastic artists friends ect to spred the word, hand out flyers ,send emails ect and in return would offer free entry to gigs free drinks or to play there music on my nyts to get them selves seen and herd, this was very efective in more ways than one, people like to feal part of something. i know its on a smaler scale but i think its a good idea,

| As a ST holder - walk up prices don't effect me but £24 is too much. I pre buy away tickets for this reason and the fact that it helps the Giants by buying through them. But then I am a committed fan and RL would be the last thing to economise on if I had to (except maybe the mortgage as the kids seem to like having a bed to sleep in - strange girls ). I would not be happy to pay £24 away - but would pay that only because I am a committed fan. I certainly would not attend any SL game as a neutral and pay that much - better to go watch the lower divisions, or U19s for my dollar.
I really do appreciate the dilemma for the club though - cheap offers - £10 tickets etc... have not worked and therefore cannot be sustained. It appears that cheaper tickets alone does not equal higher attendances - and so the club makes a loss - or at least makes less than not doing the special offers.
Despite being a SL ticket I couldn't care less how little other people have to pay on the day if I thought that this would radically increase our support over time. Clearly though it is not as simple as that.
Not sure what the club do to encourage the casual or first time supporters along to games, and I am no marketing expert. However I would target big games similar to what Wigan have done in recent years. Let school kids in for nothing, and back this up with a really low price if they are accompanied by say two other adults. We would have to go a long way to get any issues over ground capacity and this would surely give the best possible first impression to those who did attend. It would also help to win the game of course (have we ever won a game where the cheap tickets were on offer?) - then again we could appoint Bentham to Ref as he surely owes us

'"
The Wigan example is a good one. They had great success with the 'big one' matches, where they made a special effort to get a focused increase on that matches attendance. They also highlight other matches and make seem like standalone events.
We could echo this type of approach. Certain deals, focused marketing, assosciated events etc. I know that the club do this to a certain extent, but I feel it could be expanded upon.
Other ideas that have legs are flexi card type deal and tiered pricing. 5 cat 1 matches for £100, 5 cat 2 matches for for £75 etc (just throwing figures out, so don't hold the maths against me.) I for one would be tempted by this kind of deal. Due to distance, I struggle getting to all matches, and something like this would be very tempting.
I also like the idea of club memberships. So for people who don't want the outlay of a ST, but want to feel part of the club, this could be a way of extra revenue being generated. Most nrl clubs do this, and seems to work well. Benefits could be discounted walk up prices for certain or even all games, pin badge, membership card, etc.
