| l think Grix has been Mr Fantastic, when Hodgy left he was dropped in at 1, and did a great job, next season he,s at 6, not brilliant but capable, next year he,s back at 1, thats like a career change every year, 1 & 6 as we all know are both key positions, for me knowone else has had to step up to the plate like Grix has. He deserves more praise than he gets.

Exactly. How many on hear were screaming for Grix's signature during his first season at full-back?
Grix has been great and I'm more than happy he is our full-back.

Grix is the only one to get constant stick currently.

| Hmm... i think calling people who dont rate a player as good as some others do as ignorant is a bit OTT really.
Everyone is entitled to have an opinion on each player - personally i'm not bothered if Grix stays or goes, i dont mind him in general, he's fairly reliable rather than being a world beater.....Lots of people, as we have seen on here, will defend everything that he does or is thrown at him, while others do not rate him and want him replaced as they feel its a weak link in the team.
Dont think ganging up on those that do not rate him is goin to help anything, lets just accept that he splits the opinions of fans and that each side will not necessarily see the other sides point of view.

| I'm not calling them ignorant because they don't rate him I'm calling them ignorant because of the way they show it. Wonder how many of those having a go voted for him to win fans player of the year when he took over from Hodgson. How many MOM did he win at the start of the season, Wonder how many thought the players and new coach made a big mistake keeping him there.
Jerry and Robbo have had poor seasons by their high standards, brough has a really annoying habit of darting out of the defensive line, sometimes it pays off, sometimes he ends up missing the tackle and leaving a hole in the defensive line big enough to get a bus through- pees me off when he does it - should I be baying for his blood from the terraces? Eorl doesn't play the ball as quick as he might, leroy doesn't always pass when he should, kopchak never offloads..... But then the good stuff those players do is far more obvious to spot for some people than the good stuff grix does....
Anyone notice how poor hardaker can be at organising himself and the defensive line? How slow Hodgson and wellens are now, how uninterested McDonnell has looked,
Mathers anyone????
Rhys hanbury, Sam tomkins, Brett Kearney, johnny lomax
They would bring something to the squad we currently have at fullback. cant see how we arent better of having grix than all the rest. If people can't see that ....

| Q Is Scott Grix a good super league full back. A Yes
Q Is it possible to upgrade at this position. A Yes
Q Do we have the money to buy/pay this quality of player. A. No
So get off the lads back and support him with the rest of the team.
If the signing of broughton is true then maybe Murphy will provide competition/cover at the fullback position.

| So grid occasionally makes mistakes - remember Brett hodgson spilling the ball and getting the ball knocked off him or taken and no one would say he is a poor full back.
Grid makes mistakes like all fbs - but is the GIANTS full back so is ok by me.
Like his elusive runs and a strong little so and so to tackle - more good than bad if you ask me.

| Full back must be the most thankless task in the team. You're expected to organise the defence, tackle like a machine, run the ball out strongly, catch everything that comes your way AND help out as a ball-playing member of the attack.
Grix is a totally different type of player to Hodgson, and by no means the worst full back in SL. From what I've seen of him he's served you well, and definitely earns his place.
If and when he is injured or rested, though, and you try Murphy in his place he'll struggle to get it back.

| Murphy is a good player- but his skill set doesn't lend himself to fullback in the team we have this season - perhaps next year with bailey coming playing him as a ball playing loose could allow us to play murphy there.

| Quote ="jools"Not much else? What about the two try saving tackles he did make? That's a third of his tackles prevented tries! Shame murphy messed up on the next play the ball to let cats score after one of them. If he's tackling a lot it surely it suggests hes not organising the defensive line properly- or others aren't tackling as they should. Work rate? he probably does more running than most of the team- just a lot of it isnt with ball in hand! What about that fabulous kick from deep in his own half that taia had to chase back for and got us out of trouble. There's more to a positive contribution than scoring tries. - which against Leeds was simply about being in the right place at the right time. stats are useful and have the stats for Brett Hodgson- doesn't really give the whole story though does it.'"
Just out of interest which try from last week do you blame Murphy for.
There were mistakes in the build up to the tries so maybe you mean one of these.
But of the four tries scored one was a missed tackle (ferguson) one was from walking away from marker before the ball was played (George) one the winger ran straight over the top of the man (Grix) and the other was from a kick and there were three players around Duport when he scored.
