When attendance was announced I was disappointed. Salford looked like the 42.
The number of fans matter - as kens programme notes say every single week - in terms of the commercialism of the club. More fans = more money spent, via dodgy hot dogs, programmes , merchandise , and for our club to be sustainable longterm we need to be as good off the pitch as on it. LODs contract needs us to sell a lot of replica shirts.

My comment would be we are better on field , than commercially off it. Look at hulls app, saints websites, and hulls fans surveys and phone a director nights etc etc.

Anyway, I bought 4 over priced warm beers to help us.....

attendance wasnt bad for a tuesday night , but still not good enough imo we were trying to get back to the top of sl, i would have hoped for a 8k attendance, i for one blame the rfl fixture planners for this , why were we not at home good friday and away monday as per usual , especially after viewing towns fixtures which were out long before the sl fixtures. I understand about people having other things on, my daughter and boyfriend missed due to on hols and they are both season ticket holders.

So how many for our home games in fax???????

And to continue my theme of club not maximising commercial opportunity - they have told us about exchanging tickets for vouchers etc for weeks, but why not put on a laod of coaches and treat it like a short of mini away trip - to encourage the home game only fans to see what fun it can be travelling in a coach other fans.
They could do a deal of book for 2 trips and get the third free etc. - that would really help fax attendances.

Davy is great, but feel around him directors are narrow minded and are viewing fax as a problem - which it is - but missing another opportunity to promote the club, make some extra cash, and make it a pleasure being a giants fan.
They need to realise they are not competing against other SL clubs off the field, but against all other entertainments, hobbies, pastimes, xbox, tv , the wife that fill up busy peoples lives off it.

Yes i am a real fan and proud off it too, its like taking 1 step forward and 9 steps back with some off you lot on here, can you not see 6000 fans for a top team is Rubbish and the first thing you do is defend the fans for not turning up. I am also a dedicated town fan so i see things differently to most giants fans, football fans are very critical when fams do not turn up to games SO am i, just because you dont turn up for what ever reason does not mean you can defend the thousands who dont do. If you cant see that then our fan base will never grow and we will continually get comments from other teams supporters regarding our fan base. Im sorry but in my opinion if you wernt there you have not say on what i think. Go to the games then i will have the time for you. I know a fan on here lives in portugal and comes to as many as he can, which i think is great, but if you live in Huddersfield and dont have kids (which is a rubbish excuse) then your excuse sucks.

It is only in the last 5 to 6 years that the Giants have started to build a fan base. Previously it was very difficult as we were languishing at the foot of the table, and nobody wants to be associated with a mostly losing side.
To be fair we have done very well in a short space of time. Take St.Helens for instance, their home crowds are not much better than ours and they have been a very successful for many years.
And don`t Town have reduced gates on midweek games compared to Saturday/Sunday games.???

Not everyone has to attend games, it doesn't make them any less fans. Sometimes real life takes a front seat to rugby, and people have other priorities and prior engagements that theyw ould much rather do. Again, this doesn't make them any less of a Huddersfield fan than it does you or me.

I remember going to games where we would get 2500 on a sunday, so to now be getting over 6000 on a tuesday night is fantastic

Yes, 6000 for a top team is rubbish ......how about we wait to see what our crowds are after we've won a trophy before we start comparing our crowds to 'top teams' .....i dont know if you can remember what Bradford, Warrington, Leeds crowds etc were before they won trophies but i can tell you they werent anywhere near as good as what they are now !!
Success brings fans .....simple, we haven't had any success of note since the early 60's so the fans that are new to the club have been attracted by other means rather than success.
To go from 3-4000 average crowds to nearly 9,000 in 6 or 7 years on the back of winning nothing is excellent stuff - yes we have had 2 cup final appearances in that time which will have brought a few fans, imagine if we had won 1 or even both of them what our crowds will be.
all the current top supported clubs have one thing in common that we dont - SILVERWARE and until we get we wont see a sudden huge rise in our gates.
10,000 new people are not suddenly going to start coming to the games because they pick a paper up and see the league table.
And the people that are currently fans do not need to justify missing the odd game when they have been here for a few years now.!

BTW Eaton , are you off to Catalans this weekend?

if it dropped below 5000 then we could moan but it didnt

Dont get me wrong i do agree with him and it frustrates me as much as anyone how we cant attract bigger crowds...but at the end of the day moaning will not improve them, like i said silverware will improve the crowds.
