Lets step the debate up a notch!, if DB comes what are the pro's and cons of such a signing,

Pro's - one of the best kicking games in the superleague,
media speculation as to if he is the final cog in our jig saw for silverware
good chance of being in future international teams thus improving the clubs profile.

Cons - very much a indevidual player on the pitch
does not endeer himself to supporters (bit of a prima donna)
Drink!!!!! (mind we have had a few who enjoyed a bevvy or 10, so may be a pro)
would he be here to play for the club or is he chasing a big pay day.
how long would he be here for???? (corect me if im wrong but still unsure if he has seen out ANY of his previouse contracts)

I personally think the media comments on him being the missing piece are way off target.

While he has got a great kicking game, our achiles heel last season was a lack of discipline and mental toughness...i.e. we froze at certain times in certain games.

CC final, the playoff games (all we should and could have won on another day).

In those situations I dont think an individualistic player like Brough would have made any difference, indeed he might have contributed to more games like that.

What we need to take us up is a touch more consistancy, and we seem to be getting that, and some mental toughness.

To me DB is an unneccessary aquisition, and certainly not one we should be trading players and money for unless they are players we have surplus.

John Kear just been on radio Leeds and says we are very close to signing him, one player going over to wakey ????

What do we want him for? An unfit 40-odd year-old has been who never was? Whose greatest assets are his mouth & fingers?

The thing is if you got Kear he would bring the youngsters' through and not a succession of under achieving imports which in turn would then release money to try and improve your youth policy. Not only that there would be added bonuses for your fans, like cheaper season tickets' for instance which should go a long way to improve your fan base. Btw I am slightly puzzled here how can he be a has been if he never was in the first place

Whilst Wakey have a few youngsters coming through you can hardly claim that there is a lack of under achieving imports in your team. You have the highest quota of non England players in your team.

I dont know how many imports' we have, I suppose if I counted them then I would, the reason I dont know is because each and every one of them are doing a job at this club and therefore I dont feel that I need to search each individual for excuses. And you are right I am not claiming there is a lack of under achieving players in my team, its your club what has had that problem.

Absolutely finishing 3rd in the league and two Challenge cup finals in 4 years and currently third in th etable and whupping you 52 ) all with a lot of underachieving players.

Your problem is that if you leave it while the end of the season you probably wont get him. Its all well and good having ambition which Hudds have in abundance, but until you start winning things you wont be compared to the big clubs, and if they come acalling I fear you will miss out.

There dont seem to have been many other clubs mentioned in the chase for him do their.

You are right at the mo.....not many if any teams are intertested in a player or money or both transfer mid season.........but l am sure that when he is 'free' quite a few teams would look at him!

Last year he was linked with hudds, saints, HKR, Salford and Wigan.

Saints have been interesting DB for over a year.
But when they say "we don't pay transfer fee's" they mean they don't pay transfer fees, not we get them to sign while they are still in contract and use it as a bargaining tool to get a player released from their contract.

Thing is players don't go to Saints for money, same as players don't go to Leeds for money, they go because they want to WIN trophies, thats why Shudds needed to get in before DB was OOC, because then when Saints come t'old suggar daddies millions will be worth sweet fa in terms of persuading Danny to move to the Goat-farm.

Oh dear even more SAD and BITTER comments coming from the Wakey fans. Have you tapped Cook up mid season ???? Where's the evidence we've tapped Brough up ???? Why are Wakey so keen to strike a deal with us and not reported us if we've supposedly "tapped" him up ???
At the end of the day whether Wakey supporters like it or not Brough doesn't want to stay there (thats the only "FACT" anyone on these boards knows for sure). Time to move on, if he comes here, he comes here, if he gets a better offer from elsewhere he'll go elsewhere, thats up to him. As for him wanting to win things perhaps he feels Hudds (2 recent appearances in cup finals and a 3rd place finish last year) are a better bet than Wakey for some silverware and maybe no other top clubs are interested in him.
I don't get all this bitterness, life goes on with or without Danny Brough.

You just showed how oblivious you actually are to the realities of pro sport.

Maybe they are keeping their powder dry, it could well be that Wakefield approached Hudds initially who knows it doesnt matter as a deal looks imminent, but for other clubs to start enquiring about him would lead to all sorts of allegations. Whereas at the end of the season it would be a straight offer of the moon on a stick to persuade him to go to their club with no complications of a player swap which atm it looks like that is what Wakey are after.

I think you are a bit wide of the mark with your comment about all wakey fans being bitter about Brough leaving. This is the Hudds board and it is your fans that are commenting on the merits of getting him or not, most Wakey fans are merely replying to the comments made on here. Admittedly some are not happy but to call them bitter is a bit strong imo. thats a statement made in ignorance by yourself when you say that Brough doesnt want to be at Wakefield, you know this for sure do you? i doubt it its more likely that he likes the wages and conditions on offer far more. No, most of the Wakey fans seem to be making all sorts of allegations of player tapping (despite it being the Wakey club that approached Hudds) and making quite simply luicrous suggestions of the Wakey team plundering Huddersfields ranks and bank balance wholesale for a single player who to most fans isnt that much of an addition to our team...
