Never said he couldn't get in the side, I said he couldn't break into the run on side(run on side being the first 13, ya know, the ones that run on the field at the start of a game) Lee was a utility player for us, who filled in here and there. The closest he came to holding down a position was in 2002 when he played a number of games at centre for us. The following year when we signed Hape, he was back in the utility role.

Yes that's correct, Saints had nothing on us between the dates, 2001 - 2005 in Super League.

As you say, 3 to 2 1st place finishes, but an even wider, 3 to 1 GF wins, and an even wider, 5 to 1 GF appearences in our favour. During that period, and during the period Lee played for us, Saints were second to us by a considerable margin in Super League.

Like I said, Lee wasn't good enough to break into the run on team for us whilst he was here. There are reasons for that, yes. The main ones being the quality we had in the positions Lee was best at. All credit to him for going to Saints though and holding down a position there, but he got that opportunity because there was a place for him to make his own, and again, credit to him, because he kicked on a became a truly great player which he made his own.

I don't know why your getting all upset about it, because it's not a dig at Lee(who your obviously excited about getting), but just the facts of the matter about his career whilst he was at Bradford.

Shows your lack of knowledge of the game if you think the run on team(first 13) is the best 13. It's a 17 man game were the interchanges are as important as the run on team. Come back when your team can finish above ours in the league

He has a point. I mean you look at the Roby guy. Not good enough to start for Saints and gets beaten on to the subs bench by the fat welsh Guy.

At the end of the day, Gilmour couldn't get in the run on team in the positions that he wanted to play because there was better players than Lee was at the time, in those positions at the time.

Therefore he was on the bench, and he didn't like it, and at the end of his contract he wanted to start everyweek, and I don't blame him, but we couldn't offer him that where as Saints could and that's why he left without being any great loss to us.

Crabtree starts on the bench most weeks. Does that mean the starting props are better than him?

Why does Brett Hogdson start at FB every week, why does Whatuira start at centre every week, why dont you start Keal Carlisle instead of Moore every week?

You seem to think the run on side is the best 13 available and the 4 subs are the best of the rest of the squad.

Which is usually the case(lol, as if you didn't know that) if you look up and down Super League and the NRL, You'll find lots of evidence of this. with perhaps one exception per team.

You don't know what you are talking about. Roby comes off the bench because he has a specific role to play, which is to contrast Kieron. Roby is speedy and makes yards and kicks and makes breaks. Kieron is the more traditional hooker. Roby is excellent in the position he plays, especially when speedy PTBs were the order of the day, which of course at present they are not, so your style of rugby gets to feature.


He has already been man of steel and has a number of winners medals and has had international honours. No, I don't suppose he will amount to much!



As for Gilmour, regardless of what Bradford may or may not have thought of him, he is a very good player who has formed part of an extremely successful squad. He has had another very good season this season and so far as I know, not a single Saints fan wanted him to go.

Full backs are 80minute players. Players who play in the pack ie props/hookers/2nd rowers(if you didn't know) usually play in stints during a game. Some bench players can be your most useful players in the game i.e Crabtree for us and Medley at Bulls some years ago. Gilmour's speed and feet can be used to great effect ofter 20mins in the middle of the pitch when the opposition are getting tired.

Doesn't take an expert to realise that the best players in most positions start on the field at most clubs each week. There my be one or two exceptions but not many. Only somebody who's new to the game or just being a awkward turd would think otherwise.

And because Lee Gilmour was neither 1 of 2 of the best second row forwards or centres at the Bulls he didn't start there everyweek and spent most of his career at the club on the bench, which he wasn't happy with.

As a result of this he was frustrated at lack of game time and seeked to find a club where he could start, which was St Helens.
