The reason he was stopped from playing was because he wanted to sign for King Cross. At the time King Cross hadn a large proportion of its squad in the service areas. WRYL and BARLA rules stipulated that you could only have "x" number of service area players in your squad. This was to stop the formation of "super" clubs which could (in theory) have 17 players from the service areas thus creating an unfair advantage to opposing teams.
Had Richard wanted to play he could have joined one of several teams in his area. Siddal, Brighouse, Ovenden, Illingworth, Stainland and Elland all had teams to accomidate him. |

i would put out a strong first team and hopefully get them to get back to basics, noticeably, catching the bloody ball, trying to complete sets, and not giving stupid penalties away.
we should win the game easily but i would settle for a solid, no nonsense, improved performance to remember how to do the basics

That team also had it in them to take care of Hunslet with ease. The fact they didn't was more to do with attitude and getting wazzed off their tits the night before than the fact it wasn't our strongest line up.

And to think i am the pessimistic one 
hemingway and patrick and Walsh and Cudjoe have all played at super league level. Cudjoe was our main Full back for a large part of last season.
If that team has problems against Rochdale then it should be the end of some players careers.
It should be more than enough for a comfortable win against rochdale |

| Can't see any player wanting to get whooped by Bolu, so IMHO the Hunslet factor needn't be feared!!
Plus we have plenty of top SL players in coupled with a sprinkling of youngsters considered too good for the lower leagues.
One has to be confident.  |
