And Gilmour is a Second Row but he didn't do bad at Saints as a ?,
Leroy is a Fullback but played well on the Wing, Jammer a Second Rower, Browny a ? Wild a Loose Forward, need i go on.
Don't think players fit the positions we would have thought anymore, Think Fa'alogo is more of a ball playing Prop/Second Rower rather than a Loose Forward.
As to previous quotes suprised that I left Faiumu out, don't rate him but that is purely my opinion, Fatz on the bench but on a par with Jammer (just wanna make sure he fully fit 1st) Lawrence on the bench as still learning and IMO Gilmour and one of the other 2 a slightly better option at the mo.
ATEOTD ours are just opinions and the man that matters is Nathan Brown in whom I have full trust, Think Drew will feature in his team, as last season lacked a clever tactical player with good short kicking game, something Drew posseses.

Wild Drew and Kirmond would all come in if fit before the start of the season. Looks like you've got a nucleus of around 21 or 22 strong players when you add Aspinwall and Hodgson to the equation.'"
The squad is massive. There is the 22 mentioned above plus Larne Patrick and Greg Mcnally who should be somewhere close. We also have Elliot Hodgson and Jermaine Mcgillvary on full time contrats plus the lad they have just signed from Castleford on a part time deal.
there is also the three Kyle Wood, Alex Brown and Josh Griffin at batley who we can call back at short notice if needed.

| A very strong and talented squad, without a ball passed 99 out of 100 pindits would put their house on Leeds finishing top again.
Then it gets difficult, one of Wigan, Warrington, Saints and Hudds to finish second. Not sure how the Wigan coach will fit in, will the players respond ? I think it will come down to luck, luck with injuries and if I had to put money on it I would put Hudds to finish second.
Can I just add : many thanks for lending Drew to us for the last couple of years, what a fantastic player, when fit he would be first choice in any SL team. His ability to run a game, his passing, his vision, his ability to see an attacking option, his fantastic kicking game. For me the best import in the history of SL. A real pleasure to watch this man play the game

Drewy was certainly a star player. A Grand Finalist. He was also a Dally M award winner in 2001 (equivolent to the SL Dream Team). With hookers around like Buderus and Gower this was a real achievement.

| Surprised at one or two not putting Robbo at SH. When he was partnered by Brown most of the season they worked very well together.
A lot of people do not notice what Robbo does, he can scoot well when there is a gap, good little kicks near opponents line, some good defence splitting passes, and does a fair bit of defence. A good little SH for me.

but nathan brown wants to play him as a hooker which is what was discussed at the end of last season and has also brought brad drew and grix in now
i dont think we were good enough in attack last season, this is why we have brought in players that are going to give us more options and more penetration out wide with gilmour and faalogo coming in to remedy the problem

| I dont think theres any place for Robinson or Faimu. Lunt will have a big season this year. And Aspinwall is no more a forward than I am a rhino.
I dont know why but I am not so confident this year. We have only lost Moore really and he wasnt veryeffective in the 2nd half of the season.

Know what you are saying but my line of thinking was don't wanna fllod the bench with forwards, Fatz been known to play at S/O as well as , Lawrence on the wing as well as and Jammer can obviously play Second Row too.
We seem to have a few players that can play in a few positions, here's to a great season and some long overdue Silverware.

| yes i'm with gas light, apart from swapping David faiumu for finnigan (based on last seasons form!)
luke robinson is by far the best SH at the club, grix's untested at SL level imo (considering he played on the wing at wakey), Mcnally is another possibillity but i'd keep him as cover and play him in minor cc games etc. my problem lies with the lack of tries scored by centres & think their the positions up for grabs for utility players etc to break into the team.

| Aye, I dont see Finnigan in the XVII when everyone's fit. Brown has recruited Drew so you'd have to think Drew is either going to be on the bench and coming in at 7/9 during a game or starting at one of those positions with someone else coming in. Then depending on who else is playing in one of those positions then there will be a choice of Faiumu, Robbo, Lunt on there with Brown most likely although saying that Grix will also be vying for the 6 spot.
You'd have to think the full back position is Brett's with Leroy covering for any injury and being on the wing in the meantime with Dodgy, McGilvary, Aspers being other alternatives and Lawrence at a push for the other wing spot. I'd really prefer to see lawrence at centre though as he will develop better that way. We have lots of permutations in pretty much all the positions apart from prop.

| I think if Drew stays fit for the majority of the games we will finish 2nd because his short kicking game is something we have missed and when him and Fooey finish at the end of the season i think that,s when Robbo will convert to hooker .

| For me this would be our strongest squad:
1-B Hodgson
2-Cudjoe
3- Lawrence
4- Fatz
5-D Hodgson
6-Brown
7-Robbo
8-Mason
9-Lunty
10-Fa-alogo
11- Gilmour
12- Wild
13- Raleigh
14- Jammer
15- Grix
16- Griffin
17- Crabtree
IMO we have better players than Drew at the club and if our half backs get injured during a game Grix can slot in a 6, 7, 9 or 13

There is no right or wrong answer though which is good. In the past the best XIII has been sewn up, never mind the XVII. Now even that is uncertain.

| It's a decent headache for NB to have with the squad we have now. I'd like to see Drew, Lunt, Faiumu and Grix in the squad somewhere but that's probably not possible until midway through the season when injuries will occur more frequently. I'd like to see someone playing at 13 with a bit of creative flair rather than just another 2nd rower which is where Grix might get a chance to establish himself a certain position instead of a versatility player. Looking at the squad we have now I doubt we'll see Aspinwall playing 2nd row again for the club and his only chance of an appearance will be if we have injuries on the wing.

Couldn't agree more Ponner. Just looking at the various options suggested what stands out is the strength and flexibility of the squad. Here's to another great season whichever combination takes to the field.
