| It is difficult to predict when you haven't seen such as Ta'ai play, and do not even know if he is a prop or second row, however I would think Anderson would intend to play the major signings he has made (Feilden, Ta'ai, Mullally and Ferres), albeit there may be some healthy prop rotation.
A lot can change through injuries and preseason, but I suspect Anderson's first choice 17 is along the lines of:
1. Grix
2. McGillvary
3. Leroy
4. Wardle
5. George
6. Brough
7. Robbo
8. Eorl
9. Fooey
10. Kopczak
11. Ferres
12. Bruno
13. LOD
14. Lunt
15. Fielden
16. Mullally
17. Ta'ai
Some very good players not in there, Partick, Mason, Chan, Ferguson, Fairbank, Eden & Murphy
Not forgetting some of the talented youngsters such as Molloy, Dawson, Blackmore, Cording & Johnson
No doubt my predicted first choice 17 will never play together, but looking at the above we have a very decent squad indeed.

| Quote ="Durham Giant"Whilst the team looks better balanced particularly in the forwards with more size i think that there are a lot of unknowns which need some answers before anybody starts getting carried away,
Fielden after two injury ravaged years has a lot to prove.
.
Ta ai is as far as i am concerned is a complete unknown.
Mullally is making a big step up and is young but needs to find his feet. It is still a moot point to see If he turns out to be the new Chris Hill or the new Tony Tonks.
We will need to see if Lunt is going to knuckle down and see whether he is happy.
Patrick along with a few others needs to forget last season and discover the previous years form.
I am not convinced that our 6 and 7 have the creativity to upset the bigger teams on a regular basis. Neither NB or PA saw robbo and brough as our 6 and 7. NB wanted Brown there and PA appears to have been looking at any half back he might get as he was not convinced about the options he already had at the club ( Gale, Gaskell etc).
The fact that he has settled for what he has got does not inspire massive confidence.
To talk about top 4 is IMHO ridiculous.
Wigan are weaker but have the quality and experience. Wire are about the same, Leeds look the same as last year, Saints look stronger and Hull look to be getting a very good squad ( if they get Prince they look very good). Catalans also look to have a very good squad.
Top 6 to me would be a very good outcome.'"
i know the players and club make targets at the beginning of the season and you would think they will be aiming for top 4... a cup final and a good run in the play offs...and to be consistent... got to aim high if you want to get anywhere.
as for expectations of the fans after last season we are all abit down about things but im alot happier now with what anderson has done over the pre season, might take time for them to get to play the way he wants though so needs time.
fielden could play all the season without injury
taai maybe the next puletua
mullally maybe the next hill
lunt may rediscover his first season form with us
patrick may play like we know he can with an injury free season
when you look at our half backs robbo/brough and compare them with the other clubs im not sure they are any better? (hull fc lost out on prince so will have holdsworth/seymour, wigan smith/green)
depends how you want to look at things... but for me i am happy and looking forward to next season.
we have enough doom and gloom so lets give anderson and the giants a chance before putting a dampner on everything.

not far off my team that, you could have ferres on the bench ..another with international experience.
interesting that eden has now become the 3rd choice full back amongst the fans?? he played for the england knights at full back..purtill coached them.
grix didnt make the ireland team? mcnally did
murphy i think could be worth a go
nice to have 3 choices but wish we had a definate!

| The coaching staff are really excited about Ta'ai "he's a monster". When I said that this was how Doof was introduced the reply was "just wait and see".

| Ta'ai should be arriving at the end of November. He scares the hell out of me and he's 12.000 miles away, hope he has the same effect on the rest of Super League. The season is still three months off and I am already getting excited which is unusual for me I'm usually very patient but there seems to be a buzz on this forum, hope I'm not wrong.

| Jools, 2010,Robinson was the only specialist 7 in the touring party but was was ready to provide cover for James Roby at hooker if needed. Not sure if he gained any senior caps before this date.If our players in general showed the tenacity that Robbo does we would have no problems.

| I don't like the idea of picking a side this early but I would go along with sheepridges selection.I wouldn't presume but I have a suspicion that PA will give serious consideration to a couple of junior halves once pre season starts in earnest.Personally I would never have got rid of Kyle Wood.

kev brown played for great britain versus new zealand... in the same four nations 2010. partnered sam tomkins.
wish we still had him, would of solved our stand off problem for me. but it all went sour last season.

| after having far to many hookers and 1/2 this year we look paper thin we should have kept tommey lee , i think we still need to be looking for someone else you can play 6 or 7 . If we are going to play with 2 hookers (one on the bench)at the moment we have 5 playes to cover 4 postions given normal injurys during the season we need to sign more cover or hope are youngsters are ready for the first team

| I'm another who reckons Sheepridge Giant has the team just about there. Only question mark is Ta'ai who's an unknown quantity to us at the mo.
If the rumours circulating are right then he's gonna be starting prop and an absolute bloody monster at that.
Arnie "The Terminator" Lomax's second coming. Be afraid be very afraid SL

| If this is the team that PA is looking at and which most posters on here seem to agree with then my view is that it is a very solid team which will be strong defensively.
They will not ship many points and wil not be bullied in the midle like we were last year.
I just hope that Thorman and Purtill are working very hard on attacking moves and the attacking system.
I worry that attack wise it does not have enough to break down really well organised defences. I can see us beating the top teams in the arm wrestle can we break them down near the try line.

| People seem to be thinking ta'ai is going to be played at prop - i dont think he will be.
Paul Anderson is expecting massive things from Mullally and is expecting him to be pushing for a starting spot.
Fielden will be fit and rearing to go for the start of the year. Kopczak will be a starting prop. Crabtree will be looking for a massive year before the world cup. Patrick also in there fighting for a spot. Johnson also coming through
Lunt/Faiumu hooking
O Donnell, Ta'ai, Chan, Ferres, Lawrence, Ferguson, Fairbank for the remaining spots.
I do however think O Donnell and Fielden will be used sparngly though even if fit.

we did offer tommy lee a contract but he opted not to take it, could of def been an option if he stayed, might of even been out stand off but im happy with robbo/brough.
if the above two get injured then we have grix who can cover.
if one of the hookers gets injured then robbo can revert and grix again can come in.
we have abit of space in the cap if anyone comes available...maybe even batley might offer us someone!
joel farrell is doing well as a yougster at hooker too.

mullally very close to making my team..he is going to surprise a few i feel, highly rated. but patrick has pipped him on the bench in my team. with crabtree/kopzchak starting and feilden on bench.
odonnell and fielden to be used sparingly,..thats when taai/chan/mullally/fairbank will come in

| I reckon it may well be the backs who may be in for a shake up, their defence at times especially on the righthand side last season was very weak to say the least.
