Code 13 you are full of it. More like Kear took these players and saw potential and took them to another level. Other teams saw this at later stage then moved in on them. I can't really fault these teams as our financial situation will always put us in this situation, But you are taking too much credit for something that Kear has done time and time again.

Kear is a nice guy. Coaching wise he is a one trick pony and everyone knows the trick! He appoints an inept conditioner - ever wondered why you start well and quickly run out of steam?

He has taken players to another level...a lower one. It is a myth that he has molded many wakey players into greats...complete nonsense.

However Kear puts in 100% effort. This thread is about numpties at wakey who years after griffin left are stil all twisted out of shape. At the wakey vs Giants game this season when wakey were humiliated there were still intellectually challenged Wakey fans shouting 'teapot'.

He has built his entire career on that Sheffield win in the CC, and that Hull team was McCrea's who won the final because Tony Smith had a brain fart and picked a crippled Senior on the wing instead of a fit player.

I think there might be some others who can take part of the credit for some of those things,( i dont know ) But i think his effort to keep Wakefield in Superleague with a very poor side was all his own work, and they performed fairly well last season with very average players. The Giants are leaving them behind now on and off the field, as they are with a few more clubs. Until Wakefield get some money from somewhere they will keep going backwards and i dont really think there is a coach going who can make the present squad into a decent one. A bit off topic but i think if they dont get the new Stadium it will be the end of them in Superleague for the foreseeable future, even if they do get it ( which is a long shot from what i hear ) they will still have a long hard struggle . I wish them good luck but i am not very hopeful.

Yes i understand what you are saying and you are right, they are in a sorry state and its likely to get worse, but one of my points was that with the quality of players they have been able to attract, i dont think anyone would have done much better than Kear.

Thought he did OK there, winning the CC ( with a decent squad ) I am not claiming he is a good coach, what i am saying is not even N Brown or Mcquire would make Wakefield a good side, I think the coach is probably the least of their problems.

Success in something ike the Challenge Cup / FA Cup is rarely used to decide whether a coach is highly capable.

Stokoe winning the FA cup with Sunderland was a huge cup upset but noone really considers him a top line manager.

Macrae had built a very strong squad at Hull - not least with the leadership of Kearney. The victories over saints & Leeds were unexpected but not a major shock. By the end of a Challenge Cup winning season Kear had managed to 'lose the support of the players'. Hull suffered the worse ever play off defeat.

Kear is an okay coach. The wakey fans who continue to malign Griff and slag off Eorl are moronic.

If those 2 players were to go to Wakefield next year ,there fans would think all their Christmas's had come at once, They seem to produce some good players but are unable to hang on to them, The Giants have been in similar straits but have found a way out, It's up to Wakefield to do the same, I wish them luck

Kear has worked wonders at wakefield. This season has been tough, but any side who loses three players the calibre of brough, tronc and newton would struggle. He'd spent all pre season assembling a side that would improve on the previous year, only to have the heart ripped out of it by factors beyond his control. Anyone watching the demolition of leeds would agree that the side he had built was something special by wakefield standards, but unfortunately we didn't get to see the full potential. And its impossible to replace that kind if quality mid season. Finances now dictate the calibre of players we can attract, but with everyone expecting us to be whipping boys next season, i fully expect kear to do what he has done in the past. And thatis pull off a few surprises with a team of players that nobody else wants.

He will have his work cut out next year that is for sure. However, I don't think there's a coach out there who is better equipped to deal with that situation. They'll probably be favourites to finish bottom and he'll use that but the bigger problem is the franchise announcement IMO.

This is the thing about the wakefield stadium. Has Sir Rodney done a 'due diligence' on their main anchor tenant? A club that has had a CVA with a chairman in an IVA that has faced 2 winding up orders from HMRC in less than a year! And would Trin be able to pay high enough rent if they were relegated? Building a 12000 capacity stadium for a semi professional team will be crazy.

Trin need the stadium being constructed to have a chance of a licence. Given the farce of Thornes Park planning permission and a promise will not be enough. Yet if the stadium is being built and they do not get a licence you are left with a white elephant...ridiculous.

You might think they will regret that "no ground sharing" missive from earlier in the season.
