when all is said and done, we didnt lose the game, it was a draw.... and we keep getting told the league doesnt matter its all about the play offs

one good thing is that the players will get a kick up the back side for next fridays game at widnes which i think is going to be a real tough test.

Thaler used to give us everything and it was embaressing and now he gives us jack ? I dont want no favours from a ref I want consistent impartial straight down the middle reffing. If theres some biff all good and well as long as both teams are reffed the same way. Yesterday was an absolute joke where the officials were leaning that far towards Hull KR they nearly fell over. They are paid well to do a job, time they started to do that job regardless of teams involved. I pay my money to watch good Rugby League and I am feeling a little short changed at the moment. I guarentee that Rovers will play exactly the same next week against Cas and probably end up with 12 men on the park, thats not right cos if it was ok Sunday it should be ok every week but for EVERY TEAM, every week regardless of teams, regardless of refs regardless of wether its on sky or not. If Catalan had come and played like that at Saints they would have ended up with 11 men and that is where the problem lies.

i dont think anyone is blaming the referee for us not winning the game yesterday, as i have stated previously, we did that ourselves, we allowed rovers a way back into the game when really they should have been put to the sword, and i have given rovers credit for that.
the issue most of us have with bentham is that he refereed the same game differently for the teams, like flyingprop said, all we want is straight up no leaning officialdom, i dont want a ref to be "on our side" i want him to be unbiased, and neutral and referee the game EQUALLY for both the teams, if we get penalised 20 times for our team's misdeameanours, then fine, as long as he penalises the other team in the same way.
i am loathe to bash refs as most of the time they get stuff right, but yesterday mr bentham and his mates did not referee both sides equally.
whether that had a bearing on the result i dont think it did, but as daz said, his handling of the game could have had some influence on our players' attitude and tactics.

putting teams to the sword and clocking off in games was a problem last season... hopefully yesterday highlighted this area again and we can learn very early in the season!

when things aren't going your way its easy to jump on the ref. im always questioning why teams seem to hold Rovers players down longer than we do, why do other teams always seem to get away with being offside more than Rovers do and so on. certain games seem that way and it's usually when your either playing badly or getting tonked.

I think this is the crux of the matter. We had enough to beat both KR and the ref but we let his decisions (right or wrong) affect our game.

I've seen enough ref bashing on these forums to last several lifetimes and where has it got us? Absolutely nowhere.

You will always get refs having crap games just like players have crap games just like coaches have crap games - it's how you handle it DURING a game that sorts the winners from the losers. Luckily this time we weren't losers just 'drawers'. It's happened early in the season - let's hope we have learnt from it.

Things were going our way though, we had a comfortable lead till the last 4 minutes - we had had issues with the Refereeing long before we were ever in danger of not winning the game, like i've said previously we would have won the game still if the last kick hadn't have gone over and it still wouldn't have changed our opinions on what we saw as a terrible performance from the Ref - the Scoreline in the end looks like it's sour grapes but we were on his back when we were 18-0 too not just cos of the end result.

league express said penalty count was 11-5 to rovers, but penalties don't always tell the story, it was the decisions he gave and didnt give which was frustrating.
like i said previously,that game was refereed differently for the 2 sides.

The ref really! I have little time for any of them. They are a blight on the sport. But he wasn't responsible for Brough kicking the ball dead 5 times. Grix running behind Ferres. Cudjoe getting wound up by Costigan and ramming with his head. 3 of your players taking each other out.
He didn't favour us in any way.
You were shocking 2nd half particularly your last play options.
Your forwards couldn't get on top of ours and got wound up and didn't concentrate on their job. Lost their discipline.
The Walker bros were great for us as was Costigan who battered your pack when defending.
I like your team.

Season before maybe

After watching the full 80 minutes back on Roverstv I'm struggling to get where your fans are coming from. I watched intently at the referee's performance trying and I'm confused. The way you lot have gone on I felt it would be easy to see the sub par bentham performance yet I failed to spot this so called one sided performance you relate to.

I also listened yesterday to Anderson saying at times Huddersfield embarrassed Hull KR in the 1st half, Now I failed to spot that either. What I did see was a performance in the 1st half that wasn't up to scratch by any stretch of the imagination. We dropped off tackles and made so many one on one mistakes and dropped so much ball we wouldn't have troubled London So with that in mind surely we embarrassed ourselves, It wasn't down to Huddersfield it was down to our own performance. Which we rectified in the second half.
We had the physical edge and if we continue to play in that manner for the rest of the season then we'll win alot more then we'll lose.

I even think we could have won the game as the last try for me should have been also been awarded a penalty. Caro had already scored and the Huddersfield chasers stopped when Mcgilvary came and slid into Caro for no apparent reason at all.
