| I'm glad I couldn't afford the trip this time around. There will be a few frustrated fans, supping there beer in the rain tonight.
We haven't played particularly well all season. I hope we are saving ourselves for the business end. Brough is a quality leader.. A quality player who switched off with his other players. It seemed like a very lazy performance. We never turned up. Kick chase was awful, we never ran with power.
Would we have won if we had of turned up?
I think it would have been difficult.
Catalans put in a gritty, hard working effort and deservably won.
I don't think we should hit the panic button.. Wouldn't of expected two points at Catalans away before the season had stated.
I do however think a few players should be made to sit out next week to be given a lesson on effort.
Lawrence to be back in for Baily. I'd be tempted to keep Johnson in and maybe play Aspinall, Murphy and Connor.
Bring on the Wolves.

| Who is Brixton?
Faiumu is probably carrying more weight because he will be playing prop most of the season.

| Brough had a great season at captain last year and it seemed like Anderson had got the call spot on- however- before he came to us brough was known for "having a sulk" if things weren't going his way. A lot of people on here expressed concern at that - but he seemed to have changed that attitude and rise to the occasion when the team needed it- seems he's reverted back to that- I think the change is due to his form, he could handle it if it was someone else's problem but frustration with HIMSELF he's not handling as he knows he isn't playing well,

^Everything thats wrong with this comp where its acceptable to get pumped by Hull KR (team thats only got 1 point), Widnes and now Catalan (team who's lost 5 outta 5 prior to tonight) as long as we peak for 4 games at end of season. I harp on and on again but unless you win the league your not the Champions IMO. The most consistent teams in most sports are the champions, results like tonight are acceptable to fans due to the stupid rules, never will be to me!!

I think you have it spot on. If that's the case I'm sure Paul Anderson is on the case. I think he'll improve and learn on tonight personal showing and become a stronger captain for many years to come.

| Quote ="thepimp007"Without wanting to get barred again I don't think your side look as fit as last year and I think a couple of your players look to be carrying a big of extra weight especially faiumu! I know I've been known to slate cudjoe but I think he hadn't been good yet and looks less fit than the World Cup hope he doesn't think he has reached the pinnacle and he deserves his place! From what I've seen thus far Brixton has been your best player so far'"
I tend to agree with thios a bit. Both Leroy and Ferres look to be carrying a few extra poiunds.
I think Anderson has to take his share of the blame as tactics were all wrong.
Teams have been running Catalans ragged out wide. We seemed to be playing thenm down the middle and got sucked into a forward battle we lost.
Thew aim should be to hold them in the forwards and then exploit their disorganised defence. Bad tactics, bad performance. Some players need to be dropped and given a kick.
I would drop some big names for next week. I would rather lose next week than let things carry on the way they are. Leeming in for wood, Murph for cudjoe and keep a couple of young props in. I would also suggest anyone who wants to play Faiumu as a prop gets a psychiatric examination.
He is A back row impact forward exploiting gaps in the middle and offloading to to a supporting half or hooker. Sending him down the mddle against a big pack is just ******* crazy.
Not impressed by our forwards at all at the minute. Said before the season started that Larne was not a prop and that we needed one of the younger props to step up. Mullally has not done that so has been sent to keep Bradford in SL. We need one of our other young props to be given that chance to step up so we can start dropping some of our underperforming props.

| "I thought Catalan as a whole were very dominant in all areas and we were out-enthused in many areas which is more of a worry for us. We've picked up a few bumps and bruises and a few 'feel sorry for me' injuries." Paul anderson taken from sky sports.
Ouch to whoever that is aimed at.

| Remember reading an interview with Anderson last week and he was quoted as saying something like "run harder than them with the ball, tackle harder when they have it" in regards to masterminding tactics for games.
Think he needs to reconsider that a bit after today.
Sure he will tighten you guys up quickish though.

| Most teams talk about the season being a warm up once they have won the thing from outside the top spot.
Whilst peaking at the right time is important, so is getting to the right time of the season. Winning from 5th aint as easy as Leeds make it look. Far easier to win it from 1st or 2nd.

| no shock to me we lost over in catalans, despite them having a poor start to the season they will of been fired up for this game.
a few comments i agree with though, dont think brough is playing well at the moment, our forwards are also poor, faiumu has been our best prop so far this season and hes not even a prop!
early days, having a mixed start to the season but we need to peak at the right time...which is at the end of season play offs, we all should know this by now.
quicker lunt is back the better.
miss lawrence lastnight?? tackling machine.

why not? they are a good team who have just had a bad start, hard to beat on their own patch, they have won 4/5 against us over there now i think so hardly a surprise.

| brearley, i said in another post that we missed bruno's work rate and defence, bailey for me, doesn't offer that.maybe fairbank would have been a better choice at 13?
also agree about broughy, he seems to be misfiring at the moment, but then again the forwards have to lay the platform for the halves to do their bit, and they haven't yet, we need Eorl, koppy, fusi to start making yards and getting the opposition on the back foot.

| Didn't manage to watch the game in the end. Just watched the 'try of the night' by Louis Anderson. What the hell was going in that defensive line, Ferres slapped a Catalan player then sloped back, Broughys stood there looking at the ref instead of playing to the whistle, then further down the line there standing off the ball carrier . They seriously need a rocket up their Jacksy because they haven't looked interested for most of the season!

| Out of all the areas we could improve on, i just wish Eorl would man up, run in a straight line and have a bit more menace, like the Eorl of 2009.
When i saw that elima was in the catalans team i predicted we would lose. We have massive forwards, but they lack aggression and we get bullied by the smaller teams who get pumped up by the proposition of facing a 'big pack'. I feel we are in desperate need of a niggly enforcer which we just haven't found since we lost fielden/fa'alogo/odonnell

^Agree 110% All this garbage about keeping it clean etc, We are giving away penalties left, right and centre anyway for nothing so lets get a bit of aggression into the team and frighten the living daylights out of our opponents. Huddersfield Giants at the moment are seen as an easy ride due to our soft forwards. Time to crank things up about 50 notches and become a team to be feared especially if Andersons gameplan is all down the middle ala Catalans and Widnes

other teams forwards see us as a big challenge.... we dont seem to be matching them at the moment, anderson said this after the widnes defeat.
odonnell... i wish!

| I was really not happy with the effort shown last night by our second rows, both Ferres and Chan wanted the ball going forward but did not put a shift when Catalans had the ball leaving 4 forwards to take on the Catalans pack, two of whom (Wood & Bailey) are on the small side for forwards. Result our props were over-run. Having Eorl, Koppy & Kaufusi in the front row should give us an advantage, but that doesn't work if people cheat on defence.
Only one way to sort that, people cannot be assured their places in the team. I would recall Mullally and go in for a bit of regular rotation in the forwards to ensure people are competing to be selected for the big games.

| Cannot agree. The job of chan and Ferres is to defend out wide. Catalans did most attacking up the middle as this is where they got success. Brough, Robinson, and Wood had to make 82 tackles between them which suggests Catalans were very clever at picking out who to run at which would also have the effect of tiring out our pivots in attack.
What I do find unacceptable is
Kopczak 6 carries 29 metres
Kaufusi 7 carries 48 metres
That is an unacceptable work rate and in Kopczaks case is frankly embarrasing and that is not for the first time this season.

| Are our props to blame or are they just not being given the ball- too many times pinned in our own half and backs are taking the ball up for the first three tackles!! That should not be happening! If it's a game plan it's a poor one.
