| A Quick scan through other club boards seem to rubbish Robinson`s selection. What they do not take into account is his defensive work. The lad takes on any forward regardless of size, and I would bet he has done more tackles than any other scrum half. And he is no slouch if there is a gap to nip through.

| Robbo has been in great form for the last 12 weeks or more and IMO his selection is justified. Opposition forwards run at him time and again yet he fronts up and deals with it admirably and this part of his game is where NB & PA have really helped him. Add in that he has got that knack of finding that gap at dummy half and backs up breaks and I don't see why people can question his selection. Injuries to his positional rivals make his selection a no brainer and if he actually plays I think he'll do a great job.

| All six deserve their place in the squad. I feel for mason too as he's been solid all year and wouldn't of been far off a call up.
These selections bode well for Fartown and will increase our stature throughout the game and help us push onwards and upwards in Super League

Mase has had a great season, but I wonder if Macbananarama thought it might be a little unwise to include both him and Fielden in the same side.
It would certainly lead to a lively dressing room

| The squad does worry me though. The outside backs look weak (toby clubb is a joke)
and i see no one in the squad with a decent long kicking game to relieve the pressure the Aussies and NZ will put us under.

| Not trying to bag here as it is obviously a success to get so many players in the squad, but how many would be in the side?
For me, it would only be Kev Brown. I rate Griffin but i feel Fielden is the better player, and think we can manage with 3 props as we have Burgess who can rotate between 2nd row and prop.
I expected Crabtree to really kick on this year, but I haven't seen dominating the opposition like I expected (although I have only had limited viewing).
Cudjoe will be in the England side in a couple of years, but where is his best position? I think the centres for England are sorted (even with the lack of quality), FB will be Widdop or Tomkins (the other at 6) and the wingers should be Hall and Briscoe (With Goulding as backup).
Robinson is like Burrow for me, a good SL player but will be ineffectual at international level (although this is the same for many of our backs).
Lastly, I expected big things of Lunt this year, but has him been playing out of position a reflection on his performances, or a need to have Brown, Brough and Robinson on the field at the same time?

I expect Brown, Robinson as a hooker and Crabtree off the bench have a good chance.

I too see Robinson playing as a hooker, although I'd prefer Lunt to be given a chance even though he probably doesn't deserve it on form.
Would Crabtree off the bench be better than Burgess at prop and Westwood or Tomkins in the 2nd row?

Without doubt.
Burgess in the second row can do 60 mins plus while at prop it is nearer to 40 mins plus. Burgess is a world class second row while Westwood and Tompkins are not.
Crabtree showed last year that he can have real impact off the bench versus NZ and Oz. Been off the pace in his testimonial year however he has some unique aspects to his game that can pose questions for the opposition.

| Crabtree has had a good season. I saw an interview with him the other week were he said his role had changed this year due to what Nathan Brown wanted and he was doing a lot more unnoticed work.
Check his stats from 09 to 10 and yes he is making a yard a carry less and has made 20 less offloads (which are aspects that fans notice)
However the plus side to this is he has made 92 more tackles and 86 more carries than last year which suggests he is been worked much harder in games this season.
He is averaging over 100 metres per game and 21 tackles a game (total tackles for season 477)
To show how consistant he is in 23 games he has missed only 9 tackles all season made only seven errors and given only 3 penalties away.
these are massivley impressive stats and suggest his allround game has improved again this season.
Ben Harrison has missed 53 tackles made 18 errors and given 11 peanlties away.
That is 92 mistakes in total to Crabtrees 19 so maybe someone should be questioning his selction.

But Burgess has also done well at prop this year.
Do you think Joel Tomkins is better at 2nd row than Crabtree at prop? That's the way i'm looking at it as I think we are stronger with Burgess + Tomkins on the pitch at the same time. Our top 2 strike centres and if one can play just as well at prop, even better.

I am sure burgess has gone well at prop. However in the back row he is on the field far longer.
Crabtree has proven himself very effective at prop off the bench against NZ and Oz. I would go with Burgess / Ellis / O'Loughlin in the back row with Tompkins/Westwood off the bench (when either of these guys come on we are weakened).

But that's where I think we'll have to agree to disagree. I think we'd be weaker with Crabtree on and Burgess still in the 2nd row, than bring one of the 2 best rowers in the league on and move Burgess to prop.

I'm not under rating him, I think him and Joel are both quality players. They'd make a very good partnership in the 2nd row. I personally think Joel is the better player though, although the temperament may be slightly lacking atm.

Yes I must agree with you , he is a totally undisciplined hoodlum, who lacks the insidious guile of his younger sibling.

| Joel, best 2nd row in SL...dont make me laugh. He isnt even the best [iEnglish[/i 2nd row in SL.
for my pick i'd go with Ellis and Burgess in the 2nd row, O'Loughlin at loose forward and starting props of Morley and Griff with Crabtree on the bench with Robbo
Start with Brown at standoff and Cudjoe on the wing.

Tompkins has had a very good season and benefitted from having Maguire.
I think Ferris , Tickle and Westwood would do at least as well as JT if they were are Wigan.
England could select Roby in the back row. his stats stuff JT.
