| Quote ="Durham Giant"£80 for a child is shocking
I just could not afford those prices for me and the kids with all the travel as well'" It really isn't. It is a standard price, and don;t forget, that is the most expensive price.
For 26 league games, cup games and shop discount it is pretty good.
As an adult I pay £191 to sit behind the sticks. That is £13.64 per game for the 13 league games plus the 1 cup game. I also got a 50% discount on Magic Weekend tickets and 10% discount in the club shop. We have also had free coaches a couple of times.
The Hudds offer this year was innovative, but the prices are way below market value for SL. Let's not get confused and make out clubs that are charging standard prices are expensive.
I would expect Davy to announce a price freeze, I can;t see him making an announcement at half time if it was an increase, surely he could just communicate that online?

| I think this season's prices were a one off and although they won't be back at full price, there'll be a slight increase if you buy early.

It increases our revenue and keeps the drifters interested in renewing, rather than a straight jump back to 2008 prices. Financially i'd of thought we'd have to move prices back in line with other clubs again eventually anyway so gradually does it for me.'"
With you on this one.

All season ticket holders get that. As for the £80 price at the Giants it has been £35 for a lkong time and that includes the AWAY games as well as cup games.
£191 to sit behind the sticks is again very expensive.
Your cheapest ticket for a 5 to 11 year old is £60 per child. That is £60 pounds dearer than at Huddersfield

They are comparable to prices for Adults but very expensive for children. A lot of it comes down to supply and demand and stadium size but i genuinely think ALL clubs should be trying to make it as cheap and as easy for kids to attend. They are the future of the game and will be the paying adults in a few years.

| If a child has a ST for the home games then they get free tickets to the saway games.
Even at our place if the kids want the particular ST that includes away tickets then it costs.

| Are we comparing apples and pears though? Do Warrington [ineed[/i to do something even more special than a £60 season ticket to attract kids? £60 is not that expensive in real terms. The clubs need to balance the ticket costs with breaking even as a business, after all. We know that Huddersfield are currently a club losing money and being subsidised by Ken. How much will a kids season ticket be when they are not? We don't know.

| GIANTS CHAIRMAN TO ADDRESS CROWD AT SUNDAYS GAME
Quote Sundays mouth-watering clash between Huddersfield Giants and Warrington Wolves (kick off 3.00pm) with details of 2010 season tickets.
Following last season’s exciting one off cut price offer Giants fans will be keen discover the Club’s plans for 2010. Speaking about Sunday’s game Davy commented:
“I am looking forward to once more speaking to you all at half time to outline our plans for the next step in our Giants Revolution Season Ticket campaign. Last year was a major step along our Giant journey, and we were all delighted with the uptake of around 5500 season ticket holders.”

| Lets face it Ken Davy is not stupid. Obviously ticket prices will eventually have to come back in line with all the other clubs, but by the time they do Huddersfield's crowd will have increased a great deal. Despite the nice stadium, Huddersfield always struggled to attract crowds. This offer has attracted a new load of fans, many of whom will remain season ticket holders when the prices go back up and Huddersfield will attract very competitive attendances. Warrington did it many years ago with under 16 tickets being a tenner for the season (the wolfpack). My younger brother got one and he hasn't stopped going just because he now has to pay full price.

As long as we are selling a decent amount at £80 per child, then why would we make them free?
The cheapest kids ticket is £60 and that can get them in to around 30 games a year if they attend every game. It is excellent value.

No, it really isn't, and it is your prices which are way below market value. Now I am not criticising that, as it is a strategy that will hopefully work for you, but that doesn't make our tickets expensive.
Your point about the kids tickets just doesn't make sense. Just because you give yours free doesn't make ours dear.
You have had to make your tickets cheap and free, whereas most clubs haven't had to do that.

We had to!
Was it a SL rule? Or an act of Parliament?
Or could it be the club chose to?....more likely.
There is no 'market rate'. Clubs experiment with different models re ST / turnstile prices etc. No one was more active re these experiments than Deakin. with the Bulls, Saracens and one other RL team...now who were they?

Can you tell me a bit more about this competitive pricing structure that Deakin introduced at Warrington, because he certainly didn't do anything when I have been watching (last 23 years).
Warrington were one of the first to allow free kids tickets, and this was actually before Super League, when we did it for two games, and attracted over 8k to each game (and incidentally lost both of them!).
We were then one of the first to go with the £10 season ticket for juniors, which was over 15 years ago, as I was eligible when it launched. I believe Sheffield Eagles were the first to launch this.
After that all SL clubs adopted a consistent offer for kids, and I think the most they were charged was around £20-30, which has increased gradually over the past 10 years, all agreed to include away matches, and now sits at £60 at Warrington.
So what pricing changes did Deakin make again, because he was responsible for none of the above.
When I talk about market rate, it is a clumsy term I am using for averages. Wire's are reasonable compared to other clubs. Hudds are way below the average. As far as I am aware they are the only SL team to give free kids tickets.
When I said 'had to', again it was probably a clumsy description, but I was pointing out that your club had to do something to increase it's ST base, and that was succesfully done through heavily discounted tickets.

| I don't know what you're trying to achieve here TBH.
We are offering discounted tickets. We're trying to build our supporter base. We're fortunate in that we can do these things because we have a wealthy and generous backer. From what I gather yours is far from skint either.
We are both lucky.
As I say, I'm not sure what is going on here.

My entry into this discussion was in response to a comment about Wire's tickets being expensive, when they are comparable with most clubs.
No agenda, no points scoring, just entering a discussion which others steered towards Warrington's pricing, and tbh something I find interesting.
