Whoever is responsable for the decision to sack Mason for gross misconduct (laughable) without looking into the legality/implications of it all should do the honourable thing and tender their resignation. I fully support Mason's decision in taking the club to court, employers should know you can't just hire and fire people at the drop of a hat, correct disciplinary procedures whether you are a sportsman or work at Marks and Sparks have to be followed legally, if he'd had verbal, written and final warnings before for his conduct then all well and good but this would have come out in the hearing and as far as i know nothing was mentioned. It looks blatantly obvious the club were just looking for an excuse/half baked reason to get rid of him (replacement in already in pipeline) and didn't double check what constitutes a dismissal for "gross misconduct" and just chose to sack him regardless. The fallout from this is going to be very interesting, it all looks very amateur and"underhand" and as a result this self inflicted fiasco has cost, or is going to cost the club dearly.

I'd be very worried now if I hadn't scored a try cause if just a pic off your bum gets you sacked i'd hate to think what could happen if you had to do the naked run in a public place that happens after every season.

Is being hungover a disciplinary offence ?

Are all players now going to be told that drinking alcohol is banned ?

Will players look Fielden in the eye and think that he does not respect them because they have never won anything ?

Knowing the management are happy to stitch you up does that help create a happy working atmosphere ?

Does the above do anything for team spirit ?

yet another example in this country of employers thinking they can treat their staff any way they chose, i love the giants, but this shows yet again managements total disrespect of employees throughout this country, mason regardless wether he was a good enough standard of player or not, is in my opinion fully justified in taking this stance and rightly so has been proven correct. Head should roll at the management team at the giants but they wont as per usual as kens statement shows they will stick together and brazen it out.

Well if you're happy with the comment not being libellous. It's not as if you've a history of legal errors......

That would only cover the costs not the damages. If you had EPL insurance this may cover the compensation element otherwise the club will have to pay it

I cant believe the club have actually come out and defended their decision with all this morals crap - yes we are a family club but they are also a business who have broken rules and being found guilty of breaking rules !!

They should be apologising to the fans, the sponsors, the local community etc for:
A) sacking Mason unfairly
B) tapping up Koppy illegally
C) bringing shame, embarrasment and un-needed bad publicity to all the good thing we have done.

I'm no legal person or businessman but just reading what happened was enough to tell me we were in the wrong and gonna get buggered - so why didnt the top people at the club stop and think about what they were doing for a second?
Did they really think that what they did was ok and wouldnt be found out ?

Dont get me wrong i love this club to pieces and would die (i nearly have) for it, but i cannot help but worry for the future if people paid to run it are making huge, costly errors like these.
