| Comes back to marketing ultimately and Meast is right, how do you get people in if they don't know there's a game? Not sure how much PR work the players do in the area .....this can only help as well. Who is the marketing guru anyway, is it Brammer? This subject was discussed last year and it seems nothing has changed.

| The average joe still doesn't turn up whether its free a tenner or £24!! It's all been tried before!! £24 on the door is relatively cheap considering how much it is watch a second tier football team that share the stadium!
Even if its £15 which is what London charged last year they'd still be fans looking out for cheap tickets meaning the club still miss out! They can't win they need as much money to be sustainable yet they're battling folk wanting summat for nowt or near enough! They can't under value themselves neither they can't win!
Given that there is hardly any advertising in town centre they did give it a go for the kr game but done nothing since the marketing like the fans want summat for nowt it would seem!

| the point about 2nd tier football is irrelevent nic, people will pay to watch town because it's football, it's promoted, people are familiar with the name huddersfield town and familiar with football, people will pay to watch football regardless.
as for us, you are right that they can't under value themselves, i am guilty of using cheap tickets, but season tickets that are already paid for so i'm not doing the club out of money.
i just think there is not much we can do without really going to town on the marketing of the club, this year should have seen us push the club to the people of huddersfield as much as we can on the back of the first league win in 81 years but what has been done?
we can't just expect people to turn up willing to pay £24 when most people who aren't ST holders just use someone elses who cant go.

| I understood the club was planning to do match day tickets based on the quality of th eopposition which i think they should have done. but it seems to have been shelved,
It should be £15 Wakey, Catalans and London
£20 Hull and HKR etc
£24 Wigan and leeds.
The marketing and pricing does need to be looked at IMHO

| You are aware that the marketing dept has been cut form 8 to 2 within the last year or so which obviously means there is less being done.
James Brammer does a decent job trying his best on what he has to work with, myself and other individual fans have offered to help out in various ways and this seems to be a way in which the marketing team may have to look to in the future if there aren't the funds there to employ more. I have got my workplace to promote the next home game via posters and flyers which the club are happy to send for us to put up, whether this helps i'm not sure but it does mean that the opportunity is there to for our customers to see details of the next game.
ATEOTD people in Huddersfield aren't interested in watching the Giants, harsh but, as it seems, true !

| Not living in the area, it's difficult to gauge how much is put behind the marketing.
I find it hard to fault the club regarding ticket prices though. The club has semi regularly ran special offers, saints in cc only a fortnight ago was dirt cheap. The free tickets for kids, coupled with excellent season ticket offers etc. All to watch a team comprised of a lot of current internationals in a cracking stadium.
It's all well and good saying the matchday tickets are too expensive, yet when the club does put offers on, the uptake just doesn't happen. Certainly not to the extent it should anyway.
KD recently intimated that break even was between 10,000 and 12,000 av home attendance (someone with a better memory please correct me if I have that number wrong). You would presume that figure is based on the current pricing model. If the match day pricing is slashed at, then that number will have to go up. Very difficult to balance.
One factor that will make a difference to getting folk to return is atmosphere, and the image (or even illusion) that the Giants is the place to go. The former is obviously driven by us, and the topic has been done to death on here again and again. The latter is largely driven by the club, and is costly with no guarantee of success.

| At a loose end yesterday & we decided to go watch the giants. Checked out prices online and it was £48 - Blimey was first reaction. Priced out for this match I'm afraid!
I was a season ticket holder for many years, 9 in fact- so understand why you need sensible pricing for season tickets & walk up prices.
Good luck for the rest of season hopefully may pop down when a promotion is on as I cannot commit to a season ticket at present due to other commitments.
I wish they did something like what Bradford city Fc do - a flexi card?

| I think a flexi thing is a good idea- and one we have put forward to the club. We went to a couple of ice hockey matches in the off season and really enjoyed it- they play twice each weekend so a lot of games 27 home games a season means the family season tickets are £700 early bird going up to £750 after. (This is not first grade ice hockey either!) it usually £34 for a family ticket per game.
But they offered two flexi tickets- one for 5 games- £150 per family and one for 12 ~£350 per family and you can go to whichever games you want on those. If they do the same offer for the forthcoming season we are probably going to get some as it's something to do at the weekend oct-feb!
The club should be looking to put something similar in place for when the football season is over!

| Like some others have said the club have done promos... how many times have we had the £10 offer, did it make much of a difference? did it hell, the average joe just aint interested.
the marketing should be looked into though, especially the multimedia side of things.... twitter is the way forward..the club should be doing different things with this
like hull kr did pre season they announced the squad numbers for the coming season on twitter..got more followers, little ideas like this.
but if the department has been cut from 8 to now just 2 we will struggle.

| its not just home fans but away fans are keeping away. £20 max for me . the question is what is going to happen next year with the new structure . The clubs get a big increase from sky to 1.86 million 21 game season then playoffs do fans think the clubs will do with season tickets ect

| what it comes down too is season tickets vs day price
you cant have day price low as people will just stop buying a season ticket and pay on the day.
anyway its £21 not £24 if you pre purchase/click and collect.
its expensive at other grounds too its not just the giants, go to away games and you will see

i see what you are saying but as a sport not just the giants we are trying to grow ,so are we just to conseed that its an expensive day out and just deal with it, am sure most die hard fans will do just that as long as funds permit, but reading a few peoples coments already it has been pointed out that even fans of many years are moving away from the sport,
and you talk of this click and collect just sums up my argument about marketing iv been a fan all my life and had no idea it was 21 quid click and collect. you seem to be trying to defend the giants my point is not that we are the bad guys but however there is a serious problem that needs adressing.

| brearley, the point is that people who aren't regular fans and who just pop down for something to do won't be aware of the pre buy or click and collect and who turn up and aren't aware of the gate prices could be put off spending £24 when there are other things, cheaper things to do.
this is some of the problem people have, it's just assumed that everyone is aware of the giants and when we play and how to get tickets etc everything from the club is aimed at existing fans, the stuff on twitter and facebook is only relevant to people who follow the club on those sites, likewise the emails they send out are only sent out to people who are already fans.
i do agree though that in the past people haven't turned up for the promotions, but apart from the club website/twitter/facebook where are these promotions advertised?
i know the marketing department has been cut but for me the club don't and haven't done enough to attract new fans or to appeal to the huddersfield public, it's usually up to us fans to bring new people along, and to inform people about promotions etc.

| I'm a wire fan living up on taylor hill. Work etc means I don't have a season ticket. when wire are up here and I'm off work I'll get down to the match. First time in about 4 years, the stars aligned and I could go the match the other week. I looked up on the website, saw 24 quid, closed the website got a beer from the fridge and parked myself in front of the tv. If a fairly die hard fan is put off by the price, then what chance have you got attracting joe public & family?
I can't say this for every club necessarily, but go for a walk around warrington any day of the week and you're guaranteed to see replica shirts, hats, coats etc. on top of promotional stuff in shop windows, and billboards advertising upcoming games.
In Huddersfield there's next to nothing. On home matchdays, you see more away shirts in boozers around town that home shirts. You have a town that simply isn't interested in the club, and until you get some decent marketing folk to tap into the thriving uninitiated student, eastern-european and asian communities then you won't get the attendances desired.

Agree with pretty much everything here! There doesn't seem to be a buzz about the Giants, but this is the most successful team in years! So something is wrong here!
Me, my dad and cousin have been going to watch Giants for nearly 10 years now, I usually get tickets from the university as I am a student, but with it being bank holiday they were closed. So we turned up on the day and couldn't believe an Adult was £24 and a student £18... The reality is people don't want to pay these prices. And for people saying even if it was £10 people wouldn't turn, that is irrelevant to what people are trying to say.
Personally I think £20 for an adult £15 for a student is pretty acceptable. I would be happy to pay that anyway. But to pay £24 for probably the most boring game I have ever seen cannot be justified.
So me, my cousin and dad have had to agree if I don't get tickets from the university then we won't be attending games.

| Just to be clear, I do realise that the university sell tickets, but they certainly don't advertise that fact. The giants brand has pretty much no exposure on the campus, except for the 'store on 4' which is a tiny newsagent style shop tucked out of the way of everything

| Price is the least of the Giants' worries as far as I'm concerned. I've got a season ticket but I will not be going to watch again due to the poor level of entertainment that I witnessed agaisnt Hull KR and Warrington. A number of the players have been quoted as saying the team needs to peak for the playoffs and I suspect that this is impacting on the level of fitness and the intensity that the team is showing. If Huddersfield Giants want me to watch then they have to play to their optimum week in, week out. If there not willing to do that then I have more important things to be doing with my time.

There are a few flyers lying about that nobody reads too! Also the store on 4 has closed down now. Giants tickets are purchased from the new student union near the library

| what mostly has or is being said on here now is confirming my origenal point weather its to do with money or entertainment value theres quite a few unhappy people for one reason or another, I will state my origenal post was not to spred negativaty as negatiaty spreds negativaty, but when people are un happy about something but then go home and sulk about it and say nothing ,well nothing changes.it was more my intent to find out how other people felt and hope theres a slim chance theres someone who could posibly voice these concerns to the club or maby even the club myt read whats been said on here. i no over all it seems like moaning but when you care for your team as i do, but can seen blatant flaws mainly in the marketing of the club i believe im within my rites to complain. god knows how many thousands av spent following them to earn that rite.

| James Brammer and his team always seem to listen to what's been said, might be worth emailing any concerns, although judging by conversations i've had with him he knows what the problem is and finding a solution to it costs money the club don't have at the moment.

| I'm not really interested in football. I'm pretty sure that town carry out a great deal of marketing - can't say I've ever noticed it - don't know when they next play, who they play or how much it is - and that's from someone who visits the stadium a lot! like many people I ignore a lot of advertising - because it's advertising! That's the problem we have to somehow crack!
