I think the bigger club and knowing the coach well will make it hard to resist.
Brough is a bit of a journeyman player so could see him going possibly Larne Patrick.
This is all conjecture like, but i can see Brown trying to raid Hudds in some key areas that Saints lack a little.'"
I can see a bid for Eden being realistic, especially if any fee was reduced by players going the other way. But Patrick has just signed a long term deal and Brough would be expensive as well. I can't see Saints going Man City, despite the obvious need to improve the squad.

| I thought McManus was loaded, it's about time he shelved the plans for cladding and bought some decent players, and not no marks like Hohioa

i reckon eden will be with us a lot longer than 18 months. Once Lunt went to Leeds that was prob nailed on. Nor will any halves go to Saints, nor any decent props.
Would not be surprised to see Brett hodgson go to Saints on a one year deal. Close to NB, able to play the fb role the way Nb likes it esp at 2nd receiver + top goal kicker.
Also brown admires briers. If he is ooc i can see a tempting 2 year deal being offered. All with no transfer fees so McManus will be happy.
Indeed if there is any truth in Wolves releasing harrison i think NB would look at all 3.
Patrick signed a long deal knowing NB was going and Brough is settled in Hudds is a friend of our MD and loves it at the club (it is not such a bad place).
the saints problem is that players like lance, perry, foster and shenton are earning for more than anyone else will pay them...off loading these players will be very difficult.

| Can't see Hodgson going, the thing with Brett now is he needs to be wrapped in cotton wool, Wire have plenty of depth so we are able to rest him and bring him out when we either need him or he 's come through a game unscathed.
Playing Brett in a team which would want him on the pitch on one leg doesn't benefit anyone.

| You seem to think i was having a go, bit pathetic but...
...i'll humour you, Briers won't go after how he was treated last time regardless off if he still supports them.
Saints are a bigger club than both of us though regardless of current league position and if he went for Harrison and IF the rumours became the truth he would be daft to ignore it.
Saints have contested more finals than both of us combined.
I only use Hudds players and not my own BECAUSE Brown is your current coach and he knows what he'll get if he takes them with him.

I heard brown and hodgson have the same agent and I am sure that Nb knows how BH is physically. probably NB would back himself to get saints over the top of 7 or so SL clubs without playing BH, no bother. What he will want is: (a) a wise friend in the squad (b) a leader for the tough games (c) a gifted strike player and kicker for games versus the top 5 sides.

You seem to think that someone disagreeing with you is "having a go". That is pathetic.
The last time briers was at saints...was years ago. It is amazing how a tasty 2 year contract and a new coach can turn a guys head. brown will want a half with a top notch kicking game...that is why the Giants tied in broughy for 4/5 years.

i am happy, not sad at all. What is veiled? NB admires Brett and lee. Both are OOC for 2013. Both deliver what NB will want. Also Harrison may amazingly be leaving the Wolves. Would think Nb would love to have Harrison and Manu in his back row.
Money is tight in clubs so OOC players will come first. The problem re hodgson for brown may be quota.

After so many years of average and loan players in our giants sides of the past , I love that our current players are desired by others. Another sign of our contiuned development as a club. Long may the envy continue.

| Ps I started a thread on Wigan page to see what they thought of greg Eden considering they have seen Sam t development. They rate him and see his raw talent. No doubt the glass is 9 tenths full - a view that some of us on here should adopt more about him.

tbf i'd say all posters on here rate him. Just some think him being the most error prone player in the comp - by a fair margin - needs urgent action..while others don't mind.

Or maybe they feel that his positives outweigh the negatives ( i would guess the coach thinks that), or that the best way to improve is to keep playing at the highest level, or that they feel there is no point in just criticising, or etc etc.
You do have a very concrete way of thinking. It must be so easy living in cripesginger world everything is just black and white without any shades of grey.

| What is a little odd is that when Lunt went. Thewlis said announcements on other players futures would be made over the following week or so. I assumed Fairbank (announced a couple of days later) and Eden. Makes me wonder if things have gone as smoothly as we hope.

Spare me your personal cod analysis. It is dreary. the irony of you criticising someone for living in a black and white world will be lost on you
Now-
- show me where i have said the negatives outweigh the positives
- show me where i suggested that he not be played
- show me where i said the coach should just criticise a player
I will have a long wait
Back to reality. after playing RL all his life, being with us 6 months and playing around 20 games GE should be bringing his error rate down. A large proportion of those errors are happining in our 20M / 30M on 1st to 3rd tackles. this is very costly. there is little evidence that what the coaches have done so far re errors is working.
If GE can cut his errors to closer to 1 per game and have some of them further up field he will play for England - jeez I am so critical

Spot on Durham......Eden does make mistakes that is expected, he's a young rawboned lad still learning the game - the only way he will properly learn is by being on the field and in pressure situations.
He can make 10 mistakes a game for me if it makes him a 100% better player in the future, he is exciting to watch with ball in hand and that is something i know i personally love to see when i go to the games.
We cant just keep dropping players because they make too many mistakes - every player does it, Greg's are more noticable because of the position he plays.
Lets enjoy watching this lad play while we've got him here !!.

| You will probably find the more a player is involved the more his average error rate will go up? Eden is excellent with ball in hand, yes some mistakes but no more than some highly paid players (some of which hardly play!). Give him time he will improve the more he plays & learns from gameday reviews , mistakes & quality coaching.
If we offer eden a fair contract he willl probably sign, offER him the current money he could earn lots more in the national leagues.
Young players, unproven players and local lads get offered the lowest contracts- wonder if some of the older players will move on and let the others earn a good salary too?

You may wish to expect errors I hope NB and the coaches are not so complacent. Nor is the 'only way to learn' as you have indicated, any part time coach knows that.
i have stated that some people do not bother about his errors...you would be comfortable with 10, oh dear. Lets hope all our players make 10 errors versus salford, that way we will all learn
GE errors are more noticable because he makes more than any other player in SL and he makes many of them in our own 20/30M
Lets hope he will drastically cut his errors so we can enjoy watching him all the more.

You are wrong. GE makes more errors than anyone in SL. There are many SL players who have far more involvement in the game yet all make fewer errors. HTH
