McNally has been out all this season, apart from the last three games - as has Tonga. So Ryan certainly hasn't played with them this season, or Brown, Dawson and Drinkwater. For what it's worth, we are playing a totally different style of rugby to last season, so Ryan probably won't be familiar with it. Let's see how your lads cope with it at LSV. Do you seriously reckon Ryan will play?

Brierley shouldn't be one of your worries. I suspect given the "reception" he will get from fans and players he probably won't play.
Leroy has been more than a match for Tonga in the past. Mitch brown will be up against Mcgilvary- that side will be very interesting!

Why would he not play he's a professional RL player and surely proving the fans wrong should motivate him big style. Also if they focus on Brierley Brough might have a field day

Using 'jools' argument, Leigh will certainly know Ryan's weaknesses. Of course, Leigh won't be aware of any Huddersfield weaknesses, because Keiron Purtill wouldn't dream of telling us!

I hope you’re right, but they got tonked 37 nil by Fax at the Blackpool bash, played us a week or so later and we scrapped a hard fought win 16 - 12, and that was with us at home. When we played them at PO Road we didn’t do much better winning 30- 24.

We don’t get easy games against Fev (or anyone else in Yorkshire) and I expect this one to be no different, just hope our players are in the same frame of mind, or else last weeks 'bonus' could be wasted.

No no what about Ellis, you have to have Ellis, Think of all the 40/20s he kicks, ( for the forwards to knock on at the first play ) think of the kicks he's put in for mcGilvery to score from, the bombs he's put up ( that many FB's struggle with) think of all the times he been the only one to chase a player down, not to mention the fight he shows ( compared to the rest of our pussycats ) We have got to have Ellis. Why would we consider Brough.

Ryan Brierley had a successful spell with Leigh in a league where most teams were being rolled up field by Leigh's middle, he had a field day out the back with all the tired defences and gaps created by his fellow players. One thing is certain the lad has pace & can finish as good as anyone in the game.

The problem he has is he thought he was dong it all himself and what fellow players know is he has issues with is being able to control a game from HB, he doesn't like collision, he is too scared, he passes too far away from the line getting his centre/back rower hammered and is easy to defend against because he is so predictable. His defence is awful at best with his constant "jumping" out of the line leaves his teammates vulnerable.

Ryan is a very selfish player (not always a bad thing) and believes his own hype too much and therefore is not a well liked player, I know he doesn't get on with Brough for a start and a lot of Leigh players were glad to see the back of him, he would have been dropped last year if he hadn't of been so close to Rowley & this in itself caused a lot of internal problems with his team mates.
Im led to believe Beaumont tried to offload him on numerous occasions specifically after Salford away last year in the middle 8's.

Drinkwater & Brierley are completely different in style and shouldn't be compared, if you want a game managing with a vocal HB calling the shots and kicking teams to death then Drinkwater is your man, if you want an out an out speedster to finish a break/offload created by someone else then Brierley is your man.

Huddersfield fans watch him closely and tell me if any of the above is incorrect.

You really have to wonder why Leigh tried so hard to keep him, Him being so poor in general. No doubt that was just a story put out to fool everyone. and would you believe he doesn't get on with Brough, Well nobody in Rugby league get's on with brough, didn't you know that.

The one thing you are right about is, he is excellent at backing up, and has the pace to finish, making him pretty superfluous at the Giants.

Yet Beaumont was very vocal in telling everyone he wasn't for sale when several SL teams came sniffing and turned down advances. Odd.
It's the way of the world- a player announces he's leaving and all of a sudden he's not as good as he was a week ago.



I can't say I've seen a selfish side to him. He's played 15 games, scored 7 tries and has 6 try assists.


As for drinkwater- we already have a better version of him....

In the right team Ryan could/will be devastating , but it requires a more open style of play , but even without that he is IMO a SL standard player , look forward to seeing him at the LSV

Don't forget that Ryan has been involved with a circus the last couple of years, a circus who's big top fell flat around this time last year


With a more professional approach, he could become a top notch player, however he has shown glimpses already of what he's capable of, it's just a case of nurturing that talent properly now.

Nothing ' clownish ' about us scaring Leeds in the cup and running away with the Championship in 2014 , nor us beating Salford,Wakey and putting the wind up Wire last year , yes we faded unsurprisingly due to various reasons including Ryan and several others playing with injuries needing ops at the end , but 1st score in the 2 nd half against HKR and it could have all been different

This year has been interesting to say the least , but with a settled team now we are starting to show some form , not forgetting Ryan himself has heavily contributed to this years entertainment

Had a feeling Featherstone would run Leythers close due to their championship rivalry.For our sakes hoping they would get the win.

Been a challenge trying to work out all the possible permutations,but couldn't fathom how it got stated (not by any of our fans) that just because we lost at Salford we were somehow guaranteed MPG

Most important aspect of course was that our own form had to improve first.

What I'm still at a loss about is our defence. For the last few years our defence has been some of the best in the league. This year it's been shocking- but if you look at who's come in, Rapira, hinchy, Roberts, Mason JJ as the main ones, ikahihifo and symonds too then they are all pretty solid defensively. In fact hinchy puts a real shift in defence- probably more than we would get from robbo.
when I suggested it was we were missing organising from our FB that was pooh-poohed, when I suggested our new conditioners weren't up to scratch very early on in the season that was also pooh-poohed.
