i love it when we beat Wigan - their fans are always great entertainment for the week after desperately trying to claw some 'points' back

the reason the game was switched to sunday was at the request of the latics, we could have said no as their match should have been at blackpool, but they wont play any home matches till the end of august due to a new temp stand being built.
the ground is named after the owner of wigan for various reasons, he likes his name to be seen everywhere and as when jjb sponsored the warriors it's in name only.
as to owning the ground, well when it was built we did own the ground because whelan owned both clubs and got planning permission on that understanding. after 10 years whelan decided that he want to give more money to the latics and therefore sold the warriors, but in doing so, gave them 50yrs tenancy rights to the ground.
now if huddersfield town get into the premiership you will find yourselves in the same situation as we do with regards to the ground a a premiership rule is that the football club take preference over anything, as hull were about to find out this season.
we had to play at widnes that time because whelan wouldn't pay the staff to get the ground ready.

11 ? i counted about about 30 near us with at least 5 minutes to go . you would have thought seeeing as Wigan were supposed to win silverware that night they would have stopped around to see it happen

Wigan were going to be presented with the 'trophy' at the Bradford match prior to a ball even being kicked.

Yep correct,our little club can only dream about ever winning any kind of silverware and the fans having a party to celebrate it - its something our little club have never done
