Mainly a second row. Not really quick or light enough on his feet for SL centre. Think of Ben Currie but without the speed. Perhaps lacking a bit of mongrel. Big lad though and got lots of potential.

This idea of "Mongrel" is a weird one. You want players that don't mind standing up for themselves and get after people but then when they conceded penalties because of it you get annoyed. Jake Connor classic for this, so was Keith Mason. Errors and penalties are the way you loose a game.

This lad looks decent and RS is happy to have him. More strength in depth. All good.

mellor is a second rower not a centre and he will be aiming to break through in that position. abit like roberts did for us.

regarding 'mongrel' , opposing teams have intimidated us and its worked, we had the likes of odonnell and mason before and it didnt happen then

we win penalty counts almost every game at the giants! not through mongrel, from being lazy and daft and not always getting the ref on our side.

what have we ever won in super league if you want to go down that route, wait for it lls...

its quite well known the giants are weak in aggression, crabtree was a perfect example of this, top player but no intimidating like a morley and the like, most teams have someone or a few players who have aggression in them, we used to have ferres, wardle and brough down one side which was good thats been broken up now and not replaced.

LoD added some real dog fight aggression to the pack, and unwillingness to be dominated, Ferres too to an extent and some of our forwards have been far too "nice" in that regard and it seems we lose that aggressive battle in the middle because of it

I suspect Wakeman will change that, Rapira brought some fight with him as have Taai and Seb imo

One thing I am curious about is following some big personal changes will our style change? I hope so compared to last season

Got to say was looking forward to seeing him this season before all the rubbish kicked off. He was excellent against New Zealand at 13 for Scotland. I think it would be an extremely solid signing for you guys
