Really don't like the sound of it but i heard he wanted to go back home around Christmas time so i am not suprised.

Will be a massive loss to us, Luke O Donnell is the type of player that doesn't come along very often, although not irreplaceable it will be very hard to find a replacement.

Would be a blow.

Seems very strange timing and hopefully will come to nothing but if Sydney are looking to offload players to SL I guess Salford will be there waiting.

I suppose his replacement could be Ta'ai, though it would be a massive blow and a bit of a poor way to treat the club which has paid his wages for two years despite only playing about half a season total. It would free up an overseas spot and a huge chunk of salary cap though.

I'm a big fan of Luke O'donnell's and would be very sorry to see him go.

Would be a big shame if he left now and poor play on his part! The club payed his way while not being a frequent part of the team (i know can't play through injury) but would have thought he would see out this year at least!
However if he goes then so be it a second row we have the options of Chan, Bruno, Fergy, Taai, Fairbanks, ferres, Patrick, fuey so not short of choice there and at loose forward we have the choice ofbfuey, Bruno and ferres! So with or without him we will be fine just a shame these things come out now! Great win at saints lod possibly leaving wind out of our sails!

Not blaming him - injuries can't be helped- and it was a gamble after that nasty wishbone injury signing him anyway. Plenty of good second row players ready to step into his shoes- and his age is against him now.
Ta'ai could take his place as of next week and we still have Bruno to come back.
In fact it sounds like sydney have a player they can send over in return anyhow.

No point in keeping unhappy players. He was rumoured to be uncommitted to the Giants for a while ( possibly some fall out after the Mason leaving incident).

Would free up a big chunk of salary cap ( i would guess he is our second highest earner?) we could then be in a position to get another midseason signing if we need it.

I would rather stop getting any antipodeans in anyway. ( other than half backs we can get enough SL quality players on our doorsetep Walmsley Hill etc).

He also seems to be targetted by refs. Yesterday he wqas warned for running in whenhe was nowhere near the incident.

I would however say to the club he is going to, we want some cash or 10% of whatever Salford or other clubs offer for the players they will be leting gio.

We can cover him with the players we have ( we have had to cover for over half of the time he has being here anyway).

S'pose we are in need of another rumour now that the Ta'ai one has been proved wrong.

I have no knowledge of whether this rumour is true or not or the motivation behind it but:

In a relatively small number of matches for the Giants LOD has been sent off twice, both times he was cleared after the match. On saturday he was warned for running in to an incident he was nowhere near.

Basically he has never been given a fair shot by the refs in this country. That is twice in his last three mayches they have seen him do things that simply didn't happen. I could quite understand him not enjoying being here.

All that said, I hope the rumour is nonsense and LOD stays and helps us win something.

I really hope LOD stays! Yes he has had his injuries - that's how it goes sometimes! Obviously he didn't play much last season due to injury, but if we are aiming to win silverware he is definitely the kind of player we need.
After all in the home game against Leeds he showed more desire and aggression in the 15 minutes he was on the field (before he was wrongly sent off) than a lot of the other forwards showed in half a season (after magic weekend)!!!!

Hope he stays too. He brings immense physicality, we need that. Also feel he owes us some loyalty.

As much as I like him as a player, we've not seen much of him due to injuries. So in that respect if it frees up some money and the lads such as Lawrence, Ta'ai and Fergy can fill his position then I wouldn't be too upset to see him go.

Personally I think when he's played he's brought out the best in others, but I think if Fielden can stay fit he too will have the same effect. If LOD goes he will be missed as he's a class act, but lets hope that the club can replace him with someone with the similar qualities and can remain injury free.

Interesting link, on face value LOD knows nothing about this, certainly doesn't appear to have asked for a release.

Sounds like Sydney is similar to Hull when it comes to nailed on signing rumours.

Just hope its sorted quickly - and please the giants come out and make some comment about this soon before it descends into the usual farce.
