it seems grix and murphy are the ones in pole position now...ill go for murphy.

Murphy for me, but whoever is selected he must be given a good run at it.It would be sad having built up a good squad then players getting despondent at not getting any game time.

Grix for me, he had a great season playing there when Brett left.

Eden, i dont think dropping him due to the errrors he made in the 2nd half of the season, when everyone was bad, is gonna do him any good at all - he will only learn from his errors by playing games and rectifying them on the field not in the stands.

pointless having a talented player like him if were gonna discard him and write him off after 6 months.

personally i dont give a diddly squat as long as one of the half dozen candidates fits in to the team and the tactics PA want to play. If they dont make any glaring errors and then become a scapegoat they will do fine.

Unfortunately the first full back we have will make an error be crucified and everyone will start posting i said it should be Grix*, Eden*, Murphy*, Leroy* (* delete as appropriate)

Murphy is all that the other two aren't.

I like Grix though,talented footballer,but if anyone who was at Warrington is honest with themselves they know his defence needs some serious work,they were running right past him,and he couldn't even lay a hand on them.

I personally rate eden at full back and didnt think he got a chance last season, still young and got alot of talent

Looked great in the early mobility games put into big open spaces,after that when it came down to the tough yards,well he just went sideways,might not as well have been on the field.

he played more games at full back than any body else.

murphy was the one that didnt get a chance.

as a last line of defence one on one girx isnt good enough..like you say he cant lay a hand on them half the time, hull fc last game of the season was another game.

agree about eden not making the hard yards and also not great with his positioning

murphy on the other hand we havent seen enough of at full back, when we have hes been solid

I am not sure some posters know what the role of a full back is. If you see him just as the last line of defence we are in trouble.

A modern full back in my opinion has five main roles ( i have put them in order i think is important).

1 Organising the defensive line
2 Catching the high ball
3 returning the ball/ setting up the attack from defence.
4 chiming into the attack to exploit gaps/ create the extra man.
5 1 on 1 defence.

If you agree try using those criteria to determine who is the best full back. I reckon Grix beats Eden on the first four.

Murphy didn't manage the defensive line at widnes- that's what lost us the game- their tries came from kicks and out defence failed to deal with it- caufht twice out if position. Neither do I think he has the skills to help out the attack. Good under the high ball is the only one I'd definitely say he's better than the other two.

Gris is quality under the high ball. The one he dropped at the end of last season when his confidence was shot is remembered by one and all, yet how many did he miss the season before?

I remember him missing enough Ivor, my memory of him under the high ball is alternately brilliant and terrible.

I remember him being excellent under the high ball and in his first season after Hodgson went people said he would not be missed and he was not. The only real weakness Grix had was his one on one tackling

he didnt start at full back remember..think he was full back in the second half after edens nightmare at full back in the first half.

our team by then was a waste of time anyway the season was already over for me.
