p.5 of todays RLE has an article saying we're setting a new precedant by offering Gilly a 2 year deal despite him being >33, something we've never done before. So let's see if it turns out to be true or not.

It all depends on the price. Has been an excellent player for us, but i hope it is not at the expense of a younger player. Could see him moving into the coaching staff as well at some point

i'd like to see him stay but like has been said...at the right price . the younger guys can learn loads from his experience and know how plus he's still a damn good player

The match report also has some interesting comments from NB about Dodgy, saying "As much as he does for you as a player, he does for you as a coach. He's like an extra coach for the outside backs.", amongst some other complimentary comments.

Well from reading what NB has to say in that piece it's hard to imagine him not wanting Dodgy to still be with us but I remember when we signed him Jon Sharp made a comment about how we had made a big investment getting hold of him so he's definitely on big bucks. He's going to have to take a cut to stay but I think wherever he ends up it'll have to be on less money than he is on now.

gilmour still playing well ... looked after himself over the years. worth 1 year, 2nd year for coaching!

I think a new deal for both of them will give great depth, versatility & experience to what is essentially quite a young squad. However the price would have to be right.

Keeping a large squad not only keeps competition for places high when everyone is fit but ensures we have adequate cover when injuries arrive, which they always do. If Dodgy stays we have essentially six first choice three-quarter’s.

I would like to see them both stay, but in the same breath wouldn't be surprised if one or both of them ended up leaving.

Also - any news on Greame Horne getting a new contract? Seemed to be looking to get a couple of years at the start of the season, however seems to have gone very quiet.

To All, you'll find all players are being asked to reduce their contracts. The cost of the improved deals for the youngsters means the club are finding out, "who's here for the wage" and "who's here for the club"

Aren't they all playing for the wage?? With the exception of a few come through the ranks all out hudds boys (eg Paul Reilly, eorl) wouldn't most players go to another club if offered more money? I would!

agree with some on here vast amount of expieriance. but surely taking a pay cut to help accomodate youngsters.would have accepted a 1 year deal. but then again. its not my call

...according to a source of a source. No deal on table for hodgy. Deals offered to 2 players who may join us depending on a certain announcement expected by the RFL thats happening in a few weeks. One who turned us down earlier in the year and another who played for us some time ago....

Tantalising info. Perhaps a slight increase in the cap announced by the RFL?

Dodgy would be a bit of a loss I think, I'd prefer to have him than Simpson atm but of course we don't know the financial ins and outs and Simpson is under contract. Mind you, so was Elford and he went home early. Maybe some announcements in the next few weeks then.
