There are many threads throughout this forum on the SL licences for 2012/12/14.

Isn't it fantastic that no one in their right mind would have the Giants in the framre for relegation. Indeed finishing 3rd/5th in the table, a CC Final, our first GF semi final, U16s to Oz and 6 players in the England squad we are now rightly considered a high quality club.

This is down to many people. First and foremost Ken Davy. In addition to putting huge resources into the club he has recruited Richard Thewlis and Nathan Brown - 2 outstanding individuals.

It is obvious Widnes will get the nod in early 2011.

Given the RFL desire for expansion the French, welsh and London bids will be successful. Due to the imbalance between 'Lancs' and 'Yorks' and Salford making some limited progress the relegated team will most likely come from Wakey or Cas.

Given Cas have a slighltly better stadium atm and have not suffered the repeated financial embarrassing pratfalls of wakey. They are likely to survive.

This is reflected in the signings made by the two clubs. Cas have signed proven players such as Mathers, Orr, Youngquest, Fozzard and Emmitt. They have been happy to sign several of there players for more than one year. Whereas Wakey have signed several reserve grade players plus guys who did not cut it last year like Penny, Lee and jeremy smith. Most of these appear to be on one year contacts. Thiese signings are accompanied with the usual guff about hungry players with something to prove

There is nothing wrong with signing one or two 'project' players if they are brought on in a decent team with some quaity players. This is not what wakey are doing. The contrast with salford is even more stark as they sign the likes of Patten / Feka/Wid/Anderson/Nero!!

It seems unfair to have sold Wakey fans season tickets so they can watch reserve grade players.

Indeed, it is very good not to read posts about us being in danger of relegation, infact they have turned to having a go because we have 6 England Internationals!

The one thing we still need to bolster is average crowd size, whilst big forward steps have been made, there are still a few more to take on this front.

I think there is one person who's been neglected, Mick Murphy is the reason why this club is where we are now, Davy is a hero to me, and I think he's been the reason we're in this position in SL, but we need to remember him.

People can talk about Davy, but he's a true fan, who put in a lot of his money into a basketcase club (does anyone remember the 300 game) and we're there because of MM.

You claim that Huddersfields league finishes should assure them of a Super League license, but since being promoted in 1988 Wakefield have never once finished in a relegation position. Even when we were booted out we came back and defied the odds and even since relegation was scrapped we have never finished in the bottom two. So out of all the clubs you mention, we are the only ones there on merit and you still want us out? Strange.

MERIT??? cas won promotion fairly.. hull kr won promotion fairly.. salford won promotion fairly.. trinity might not have finished bottom but they have bent the rules, that is why they were deducted 4 points in 2001/2002 and upon appeal it was reduced to 2 so effectively relegated hudds...so wakefield are truley in super league on merit

Yet next week we wil be treated to the undignified sight of wakey fans 'protesting' for outline planning permission for a new ground just a few months before the next licence round.

In your time in SL you have had a CVA, your chairman has an IVA and in the last 12 months the club has faced 2 winding up orders. There is not a club in SL than can match this financial record. A SL club facing 2 winding up orders is bad for the whole game.

And this year when we humiliated wakey on Sky tv 52- 0 you had TEN 'non british federation trained players ' in your 17. Just how long did you need to recruit British players? [Your method of addressing it in 2011 is to sign reserve grade players on one year contracts

Not to mention your 'merger' with Sheffield. Surely what you did amounts to fraud?

Try not to advertise your stupidity. The merger process was created by the RFL / SL and supported by the SL clubs including...Wakefield. The suggestion of fraud, which verges on the libelous, is therefore moronic.

Wakefield's stadium is appalling, the finances are a shambles and the persistent reliance on overseas players has been a running joke. Even your head coach would rather be somewhere else!

But yet we still defy the odds and punch above our weight. Imagine if we had some ploughing money into our club like you do?

I didn't start out to have a go at Huddersfield, just merely defending my club against the opening post. We are small club with next to no finances who always manage to fight off the underdog tag. We are in Super League due to our performance on the pitch, which seems to be the only indicator not being taken into account.

Plese stop advertising your stupidity. Performance is part of the licence criteria. Why not find out about it and then you will not be so ignorant.

Your on pitch peformances are at the cost of delayed payment of taxes, employing loads of journeymen and providing fans with a dilapidated stadium. This is not a sutainable way to run a club and that is why the RFL have their rules.

You really are a buffoon. Our on pitch performance covers 22 years. Yours is since you duped your way out of the merger. Your ground would not have happened without the football club. And your chairmans money won't last forever. Were it a level playing field you probably wouldn't exist.

You won the 'Championship GF' in 1998. You entered SL in 1999. So you have been there 12 seasons. Not 22. Learn your own club's history.......buffon

We never actually got relegated prior to 98. We were booted out. Like I said, we haven't finished in a relegation spot in 22 years.

A thread on SL licencing and that is probably the best that you can muster. I know wakey fans dislike the facts about the shambles at their club.

If you look at the history of Sheffield Eagles on thier website you will find this.

"1998 needs no introduction – it was Wembley year. The Eagles beat Wigan 17:8 to the delight of the rugby league world and especially Mark Aston who received the Lance Todd Trophy. That moment should have meant the resurgence of the Eagles but instead sever financial pressures had begun to grow resulting in the merger with Huddersfield on 1st October 1999"

I am sick to death of other clubs fans coming on here and blaming the Giants for the merger which is simply untrue.please read the last two lines several times so it sticks in your tiny mind.and i for one would rather see Wakefield or any other team from Yorkshire stay in s/l than a team from over the pennines.

Its ok, its not unusual to find a Wakey fan with selective memory and lacking in any idea of whats gone on.

Wakey lied to get into SL
Stole from contractors and creditors
Failed to pay players wages
Had points deducted from breach of the salary cap
Failed to keep promises on the ground improvements
Failed to make an impact on the field
Failed to increase the number of home grown players in their squad.
