| I hope this move helps him kick on. He looked very promising in 2011 then went right downhill to the point where he became a liability last season due to silly penalties and soft knock-ons. Get him back to his '11 form and you have a good player on your hands there

| Don't see how this is good business for us.
Hughes and Wane talk about his return to Wigan next year, no such talk re Larne. Unfortunately I think that's the last we will see of him in the Claret and gold!
Would have preferred Taylor!

| It sounds like they've taken over the last year of his deal with us. We won't see him again.
Genuine LOL of dismay at:
"From our point of view Paul Anderson was looking for a some fresh impetus in the pack with some strike and desire to win big games..".
Because of course, Larne isn't a strike player is he. Christ alive. Utter tripe.

| I fail to see what Huddersfield gain from this.
Jack Hughes is average at best. At his worst he is complete and utter garbage. Loads of mistakes and silly penalties galore. He's a liability.
Strange, strange business from Huddersfield.

| The joys of being a Huddersfield fan! I can see the point in taking a deal for Larne, he only had a year left on his contract and he clearly wanted to leave, so why not get some money for him. We have strength in that position and it gives someone else a chance to step up. What I don't agree with is getting a very average player in to give him some experience and then send him back to a rival club a better player. Saying that I would have been disappointed if we had made him a permanent signing.. we should of taken some money and banked it until a good player came up for grabs. One more thing, is anyone else sick of hearing the s**t that come sout of Thewlis's mouth? I can't stand the guy

| We get absolutely nothing from this deal except to strengthen a rival- again. Thewlis couldn't negotiate a pee up in a brewery. But then we knew that already.
If Hughes is coming to get experience then we are going to have to drop a very good player to accmodate him. Wtf do we let other clubs do this to us?

| Maybe Patrick wanted to leave to further his career, possibly in Australia again and the best option was to do a deal with Wigan as they're playing the Aussies and that will firmly put him in the shop window, who's to say Hughes won't kick on and bring something to our pack missing last season.
Players who've under performed at their previous clubs have come to us and really kicked on with their careers and who's to say the same won't happen with Hughes next season and maybe stay beyond his initial 1 year stay.

| Not upset about Hughes coming in but I'm gutted Larne won't be in claret and gold next season.
I can't understand Anderson's decision!!
I really think we'll see the best of Larne Patrick under Wane and playing with a trophy winning team.
Hope he's a huge sucsess over there and doesn't have a season of injury this time round.
WELCOME HUGHES!

| Unless the Giants have another top player up there sleeves ready to sign this deal for us makes no sense whats so ever. There goes our strike power and in a season where we have to finish top four for a chance of a grand final place. But as stated above however poor we thing Hughes is he may do what Scott Moore did with us and end up a fan favorite dream team player.

| Don't know where the idea that Larne is out of contract next year is coming from. He signed to the end of 2016 when he signed his last contract. So he will still have a year to run when this loan ends.

| Strange one, top, top player is Larne and we have, once again it seems, let our rivals have our pants down and helped strengthen them !!
where will Hughes play ? can't see him playing centre in front of Leroy, Joe, Smurph and Jake to be honest.

| There was a topic on here a while back saying which 5 players you wouldnt mind to see go... Patrick was one of mine so happy enough with this, would have liked to have seen a better player coming the other way but will give hughes a chance... he has the pedigree having played for england academy and the knights, not his fault he has got stuck behind players at wigan that would walk into the giants team, still made plenty of appearances for them last season too.
as for patrick, yes he looks great in full flow when making a break and runs hard BUT he often knocks on..like taai. Ironic that patricks last touch for us v catalans at the end of the game was infact a knock on!
i also feel he is not good enough in defence, seen him caught out enough times for my liking...and he has no aggression in him whatsoever...somewhere we lack!
wigan have been after him for a while so would have gone season after next anyway and we get the chance to see another young talent in hughes come here hungry and to prove a point.

| I renewed last week.
Given that it's not etched in stone who we play because of this splitting crap I was as slow as I've ever been when it came to renewing. Had this been announced last week I may not have done so.
Is Lunt really going? I suppose he may do. Let's face it; he won't be staying beyond next year even if he stays this year. He doesn't want to be here. It seems plenty of players don't!
There is something awry at the moment. The club openly moan about attendances but seem incapable of organising any positive news that lifts us. They expect the signing of a Bulls youth player to blow the lid off the place, talk of more positive news then announce that Patrick is gone. On top of that, they lie about it being really recent and Anderson not knowing whether it has happened. But hey, Patrick wasn't one of those who had surgery was he? Why wasn't he at the training camp instead of having his photo taken with the big gorilla? Why say we're letting our biggest impact player go because we need "more impact" and with us all having seen Hughes play and knowing that impact he aint.
Something is awry. Very awry.

| Sorry to repeat my post on another thread, but here goes.
As I have intimated, I don't know the ins and outs of why this happened.
I am a fan of Larne's, but I would just like to point out that in this season's HGSA Wagstaff Trophy vote [loose criteria being 'who would you least like to see leave the club', Larne received only one vote.
Yes, we are training up a youngster for Wigan, but they are reciprocating. If all goes according to plan, we shall see a stronger LP playing for us in 2016 [his contract runs out at the end of that season.
And perhaps there's more to the deal than meets the eye, something that either, or both, Wigan and us don't feel is right to publicise. I don't know, just commenting.
As people on this board are often saying, 'in Baloo we trust'.
We shall see.

| Lunts not going anywhere.
dont think we will see patrick again..think there is more than meets the eye to this deal, maybe scott taylor is being lined up in future.
we have signed one of the best props in SL this off season in huby, people seem to forget this, we dont need wholesale changes like some clubs.
looking forward to seeing Huby and Ellis... with some players coming in busting a gut to prove themselves like hughes, thats me being positive anyway!
