Its no good signing him up then never actually using him when we are in need of a half-back, hope we give him a chance.

Brilliant news. Won't lie I don't know much about the lad but we have to trust our young guns. We have made some brilliant signings but not masses from our own younger ranks.
Get the team playing well and against the (dare I say it) lesser sides put him on the bench so he can get used to running the plays with brough. Or look at the early stages of the challenge cup?
Need a young half back ready to come in as this will hopefully stop situations like Bradford game rearing its head!

if he is in the first team squad then give the kid a chance,you never know he might just be a very good back up or even a potential starter.
no point having the kids in the squad if we aren't going to use them.

True, we've had talented youngsters before that we never used and who disappeared without so much as ever making a 19 man squad.

He needs to be given game time when it becomes available rather than just learning from the likes of Brough Robbo etc.

Absolutely, would be ideal to give him a game or two at scrum half along side Brough before throwing him in if Brough picks up an injury.

It's not going to happen. The point of giving him a full time contract is so that he can train alongside the others and learn. Unless half our side is wiped out in some bizarre act of god- i cant see he will be playing. Neither should he as he still has a lot to learn.

He's 18, if he is still learning then something is going wrong down the line

Sorry, seen this too many times to think this lad will ever pull on the c&g until its too late.

Get him to match fitness, put him on the park. Even if its on the wing for a bit.

It makes me laugh that no one on here has probably seen him play yet they can state that we should be putting him straight in the firsrt team.

Of course he will still be learning at 18.

Equally laughable is the people totally writing him off and saying he will disapear without a trace.

Just let the lad show in training what he can do and if he is ready to earn a place at 18, 19, 20 or never so be it but as you said not many have seen him play and I am sure when the coaches think he is ready it is the time to express an opinion, that time is not now.

If I'm wrong I'll gladly eat humble pie, and I really want to be wrong.

But if he's going to be good enough in 2-3 years he's going to be good enough now.

Not necessarily. He may be good enough for the 19's now but not the first team as there is a huge difference. In 2-3 years time he may be good enough for the first team or he may be good enough in 12 months time. Nobody knows how he may develop - it's how he adjusts to the full time environment in a Superleague squad that will decide. For me the journey starts here - lots of hard work ahead.

Leeds do blood them young and it seems to work but then again Burrow/Maguire and even the likes of Stevie Ward are real talents and would thrive wherever they were thrown in. Could be this lad is a future international and will be a superstar as a teenager but it has to be total conjecture at this stage and perhaps a Challenge Cup apperance here or there will show us if he has got what it takes to push for a spot but to be honest there are very few half backs around so even if he is just above average he will be a useful signing indeed, if he is in the same bracket as a Burrow, Maguire etc etc then so much the better.

im not saying he should be thrown into the first team,im saying he should be given a chance if that chance arises,ala last week.
i wonder if wigan fans ever thought sam tomkins would never get game time when he was included in their first team squad? unless players are given a chance no one will ever know whether potential can turn in reality.
