| Hicks was different
Controlled the game, liked the 10 and 12 for Salford, played well.
Thats about it, O'Donnell was a machine.

| No real complaints with the forward passes. Shame the ref against Warrington wasn't in that frame of mind.
I thought Salford were pretty good. Not many mistakes. Lots of offloads. They will pull off a few shocks this season.
Giants never got out of second gear. I'm starting to believe Eden is the find of the season. He had no mistakes today and looked excellent.
Hull will be harder but didn't see much to worry about in their game today.

| Giants controlled it easily, and didnt need to get out of second. Frustrated by the "forward passes" but what I am more annoyed by is the Robbo "double movement"
I had a clear sight of it and it was 50/50, more importantly the ref was going to give the try until he got bullied into changing his mind by the Salford players. Throw in the terrible inconsistency at the offside and holding down it made for a fractured game.
That said, Eden was fantastic, LOD was fantastic, the rest of the lads did a good job against a Salford team thats got some real quality - and put some entertaining stuff on.

| thought Salford played well, made Huddersfield work hard in defence, Eden was a class act LO'D was as good as he has ever looked in our colours, the ref was inconsistant but at least he gave us summat to chat about on the way home.
Do think Hull FC will come at us in a similar manner my only concern is the rotation of the squad who will/wont play? my hope is that Lunt has done enougth to stay in the squad,

| Job done. As mentioned the two players who stood out were Eden and LOD.
I had Fartown at 7/1 to win by 36-40. Cheers Hicks!

| Great try that never was. Eden collects the kick and runs around a few players. Straighten up and passes it out to Leroy, Leroy to McGillvary and then back inside. One on one with (Knitting) Patten. He is unstitched with a great pass for us to score.
Hicks blows last pass as forward. Dodgy wit.

| Didn't go to game. Away with rlr family on holiday at the moment - but deal was we can come home on Monday morning for hull game and still be considered a good dad.
Listened on Internet radio Leeds - so don't know details - only overall picture as described by average commentators.
But to keep an attacking freestyle Salford to soo few points must be good. Also to score that many points with a bad ref and error prone performance sounds good.
Looking at players tweets they all thought a good 2 points against a strong Salford without playing at our top level. Sounds like we won ugly again - which is such an improvement on previous years where we could lose ugly with the best of them ... Was crusaders really a year ago ?

| I thought Hicks had a complete 'mare. His 10m was erratic in terms of distance he set and he didn't police it aside from pinging us a couple of times which was frankly ridiculous when you saw the fact Salford didn't even bother all game.
He was very poor today and I think when he watched it back he will admit it himself.

| Interesting that you guys are calling the ref - whilst I absolutely agree that Hudds were the better team today, two of your tries were gifted by Mr Hicks - first half, two Huddersfield players carried our winger into touch, feet completely off the ground which should have been a penalty to Salford, instead you got the put in at the scrum then scored, then I think the second try in the second half was possibly the most blatant forward pass of the season, right in front of Mr Hicks - play on
But I also thought both teams were playing with an eye on Monday, kicking early and trying to conserve some energy - unfortunately for us you did it rather better than we did
Overall I enjoyed the game but not the result - just a tad flattering your way

| The result was in no way flattering at all. You are dreaming if you think that. Had we won by 50 it might have been flattering, as it was to win by 26 was the least we deserved.

| I couldnt actually believe what i saw this afternoon.......was Mr Hicks doing this for a dare??? he was absolutely atrocious and i am staggered that an official that is so bad can actually be allowed to step up to Super League level.......someone kept shouting look at there line hicks ...what line ? i didnt realise 'zig-zag' was now how to form a defensive line in rugby league !.
He didnt look down the line once and at times the Salford players were a full grass cut difference in front and still he failed to see them !!.
And with the Robbo no try i had to rub my eyes to make sure i wasnt seeing things.....did a Salford player actually remove the ref's hand in the act of awarding the try in his protest to have it chalked off? i'm sure something like that happened before he consulted with the guy who had already ok'd the try !!.
Forward passed were missed all night and ok balls were called back as forward.....3 times i think this happened to us in scoring.
The intereference on Luke when he was trying to make a tackle was almost an assault and he let that go too.........i'm sorry to be harsh but there is no way this bloke is anywhere near upto SL standard ( even though that standard is generally poor anyway) and should have at least another 2 yers in the lower leagues to help him see the game better !!.
As for the game, Eden was head and shoulders above everyone else tonight and was unstoppable with ball in hand, LOD brought the monster we saw last year back out, Chan worked hard again and i thought Leroy deserves a mention too as he wa always probing and seeking a way through.

| Yep agree with the winger one- terrible mistake- not sure how you can call a pass forward from behind the sticks but he certainly missed plenty, he also failed to get Salford on side for most of the game, blew up for holding down within moments of some tackles but allowed others to go on for an age- very inconsistent refereeing. The penalty he gave against brown was a joke and he managed to chalk off a contender for try of the season which he was no where near!

| Hicks was a disgrace today and they weren't errors he made cos didn't happen both ways.
Salford gameplan was to slow the game to a standstill , constantly play offside and Hicks allowed them to do it.
Disallowed 3 Giants tries 2 for forward passes, would love to see them back as the last looked perfectly fine?
Disallowed Robbo try after awarding it at first but been advised otherwise by the in-goal touch judge who had slipped on a Salford shirt somewhere along the way!!!
Hard to stomach after the first Salford try which appeared to have been dropped/bounced by the scorer. Hard to tell and would like to see it again.
Hicks needs demoting but then again so do Bentham, Ganson, Silverwood and most of em to be honest.
Trouble is there isn't enough pressure being put on the refs to get it right, not enough help from the waste of spaces with the flags.
About time we had video ref at every game and also possibly looking at a ref to police the defensive team and one for the attacking team?
I am sure a proper RL fan just wants to see a great game won by the best team on the day without any help from the ref who shouldn't be noticed for the full 80 minutes.

| All the passes Hicks gave as forward were forward, the Eden one to Brown didn't need to be, that was the only complaint. Cannot argue with any of the forward passes he gave, sure he missed one or two but he certainly cottoned on to more than most ref! So I would actually congratulate Hicks on that aspect of his refereeing. The aspect where he did poorly in the main was the offside. And it wasn't just Salford. We got away with it a few times too. I think a fair few people on here need to look at decisions in the cold light of day before shouting for the guys head. Not the best refereeing performance ever, but he's hardly Russel Smith bad!

| You see what I have to put up with when I sit next to him at matches??? He's forever wearing his unbiased hat!
Have to agree with LI's forward passes judgement. However, there were lots of other 'strange' decisions.

| Didn't think the pass to Brown was forward and I would argue that the Robbo "double movement" had never seen a double movement in a month of sundays. The ref was crap, Salford were allowed to get away with so many offsides/interfering at the ptb that it became embarrassing, the number of blatant (not borderline) forward passes not seen by him and the touchies was unbelievable to say the least, the ref had lost the plot completely when he looked to have signalled for the video ref after one try ??????
So I would actually congratulate Hicks on being the worst referee we've had this season (by a country mile) and sincerely hope that we don't get him again in the foreseeable future, or better still he goes back to amateur rugby (where he might be OK) and we never have to see him again.
