| Was thinking about Lunt and whether we should up his offer to keep him. there are plenty of players OOC at the end of the year . Who is playing for a new contract and who would you keep.
Brett Hodgson
Paul whatuira
Baloo
i would like to keep these definitely
Andy Raleigh
Martin Aspinwall
Stephen Wild
Would keep these three if we can but would like to look at Wilds injury record and what he is asking for before saying for certain.
Jermaine McGilvarry
Jury is still out. I think he is too small to be a SL winger
brad drew
Graeme Horne
Both of these will be going i think
David Faiumu
Will probably be going due to his legal difficulties in OZ last year.

Good we have another year but I'd be tempted to try and get him to extend it.
In terms of your starting post I tend to agree with pretty much all you have there DG.

I don't see why we would buy in a replacement full-back for Brett, when we have a ready made, home-grown, top class replacement in Leroy to slot in.

pretty much how i see it too DG
for me brett, fooey, fatz and baloo are a must (providing they want to stay)
aspinwall and raleigh have been great servants but i dont think they can offer a lot more than what we are getting from them right now, but would be great squad players to have around.wild, although on his day can be a devastating performer sadly i think these are few and far between now, mainly because of the injuries that are seemingly taking their toll now.
mcgilvaray has not really been given a chance, but i would still have him as a back up winger( should leroy become permanent number 1)
horne and drew although decent and drew will always be a legend here i dont think they have the quality required if we are to push on further.
i dont like to see any player leaving who has done his bit for the C+G but thats the way it goes

| Wild & Fatz - to let them go.
Fooey I don't think is in NB's plans, though I would be sad to see him leave.

| Fooey will probably struggle to get another permit.
Wild & Fatz I'd both like to stay. Aspers too if the price is right.

And a conviction in Australia which will prevent his permit renewal.

I have to agree with Wadski. the chances of Faiumu getting another visa is slim. If that is the case there is no point in signing him up, planning around him, for him not to be able to get in. A great player but the decision to let him go is probably out of our control.

I think that Fatz as good as he is may go to be closer to his famly back in NZ. a great player but again this might be out of our control.
Wild i would like to keep but you have to look at it in terms of the money he is on and his injury history. Dodgy knees do not improve with time. Medical considerations will determine whether he goes or stays.
Same with ASPY. When he came to us he was an international WINGER. Probably on the wages that went with that.As much as he puts the effort in and has been a revalation in the second row he would surely be fourth choice behind Fa alogo, Gilmour, Kirmond and Raleigh / Larne

Younge Elliot Hodgson looks a great prospect too! think we are at the moment spoilt for choice in a number of positions. i do think we will have to lose a couple to bring in more talent and if we need to make a call i'd think it would have to be the elder statesmen in Brett and Drewy that will make way for the young lads.
