Right, I think you all know that I want to see the atmosphere gain up a bit, with my various thread you may remember such as 'Let's do it!' 'Let's do it - Again' and 'Injecting a bit of Colour'. Well, I am back...

I think we need to just do it next season, no matter if we're arrseholing Bradford 104-4 or losing to Wigan 21-20. We need to have the best atmosphere we can, and we need to inject the colour and inject the vocalness. I don't know how, but I know how a club in the USA did it. Columbus Crew.

Right, there were three supporters unions, and when the club decided to knock down a part of the stadium where two unions congregated, they decided they needed to merge, to form like an ultra group called the Nordecke. Within a few weeks, the most boring club in the MLS, with fans who sat in clumbs, became a group in one area being the loudest in the league. I don't think we should form an ultra (although if anyone fancies it...) but I do think generally being loud and getting people south of the 10th row is quite important, no matter how we do it, like perhaps by spreading out(?) we all need to do something, cause you can hear a pin drop sometimes, but other times, especially when away (Saints, Wire) and the last 10 minutes v Crusaders, we're electric. Any Suggestions, because unless we become coaches of the team, this is what we can do to help them.

Hiya lads, good luck to you with your efforts. It’s great to see a bit of colour & passion on the terraces. We are going down a similar road at Wigan. Next year will be year 2 for us men. Last year I started an Ultras thread on the Wigan board which drew a lot on interest and a mate of mine started a thread about flags. On the back of these we decided to meet in a local boozer and sent out on open invite. About 15 Wigan fans turned up who all share the same ideas and one year on we’ve filled the South Stand gantry with about 25 flags (cost us approx £3500) and next season I reckon we’ll have 35 to 40 flags.

To give you some ideas, we meet about once a month to discuss ideas & fund raising initiatives. We are having a ‘1st anniversary do’ at a local cricket club next month and have sold out the 130 tickets at £3 a pop. All proceeds to new flags. We’ll have the Super League trophy down there and fans have their photos taken with it at £3 a go, proceeds to flags. There’ll be raffles with proceeds to the cause. Hopefully we’ll raise several hundred quid.

We’ve made pin badges (my avatar) and are selling these to raise funds. We’ll also be selling Ultras scarves soon. We’ve bought 5 massive wavers to fly at the front of the South Stand before games. We’ve shopped around and found an Ultras factory in Romania who made these for us.

You need a handful of people with the passion & drive to keep driving it onwards. Don’t give up, keep plugging away and keep things ticking over by trying to make or buy flags every so often to keep it in people’s minds. Before you know everyone will know what you are all about and your support network will grow & grow. I can see that a couple of you have that passion and that might be all it needs to get things off the ground for you.

I was merely pointing out that you would be better off doing the work you get paid for, if you want to trade insults I am sure there are plenty that will accomodate you, fortunately I will not be one of those hth.

I like what wigan are doing i have to admit, Our fans are fantastic and somthing like that would be brilliant. I for one would join such a organisation as i want to get a flag together myself, however i cant see such a thing happening with our club. However best of luck to you wigan fans great efforts so far.

One day some people may accept that the majority of our fan base are not loud, noisy, passionate, flag waving, singing,dancing ultras but more of the sit down and watch the rugby and applaud the tries and have the occasional moan type so trying something like this with our fans will more than likely be met with scorn rather than enthusiasm from the majority.

I wasn't meaning i am !!! far from it, those that know me will vouch for my 'enthusiasm', the point i was making was we have tried many times to get the crowd going but to no avail as we have seen many many times they just dont want to get involved !

I'm all for trying to get a bit more life into the majority of our supporters but i just feel Conorgiantsfan is fighting a losing battle with his campaigns...........i and many others have been trying for the last 20 years to achieve this.

I just saw all those comments about Fartown being 'like a curtain raiser' and I thought we really should make an effort, the days of having less home supporters than the away team are gone, aren't they.

I know your not a quiet one.

I just think that if Connor and some of the others are trying to get some excitement going we should encourage them. If only to drown out the miserable old giffer that sits behind me with his moaning and whining.
