Quote="Durham Giant"What it means to me.
After following the Giants for 35 years most of that ime when we were crap i have thought of all the bad times.
There were so many that when we lost i just expected it.
To lose a game was no big deal. Then to lose a game by 20 0r 30 points was a good performance because i became almost numbed to it because it was so much better than losing by 50 or 60 or more.
I have seen us win games and win smaller trophies promotion and the Buddies cup but no matter how much i enjoyed them in the back of my mind they were just little things because we were not in the top division.
Yesterday we were the best of the best over the season. We deserved that win, we deserved that trophy.
I looked around at the fans and others at the end of the game and i felt some mixed emotions. Pleased that they were happy but maybe a little jealous they had seen success and maybe not seen all the failure that came before it.
At the end i could not really celebrate i just looked around and tried to keep s traight face.
I cried but tried to hide it. Tears were in my eyes. Tears of sadness about all the bad times and tears of joy that we had finally won. We are now a team that deserves success.
We are where we belong . back with the big boys a proper team..
I found it hard to enjoy as much as i would have liked. Maybe when it has sunk in i will be able to enjoy it at Bradford.
There are loads of people who deserve credit for this success but i would like to say that the fans who were there through the bad days whether every week or in and out, who saw the losses but still kept dreaming, this is for you.'"
