I think the fee in the clause is the key part.
As has been proved with the likes of the Scott Taylor situation the last year of a deal isn't worth much if a player wants away.
My point I guess is that if he plays that well he will get enquires from other clubs such as Wigan, Warrington, Leeds etc with a year to go anyway and they would pay a fee just as you will.
But if in 2014 we tie him down to a longer term deal then the choice is made and clause becomes worthless.
