Could be right Peter, when you look at this season, when I younger in the early 60s I came from an area not well off ,we struggled to get a ball for Football and Rugby, or a bat for Cricket, then a lad came along who had a Bat and balls, only problem every time it didn't go his way he threatened to take his things home,reminds me now of Derek,I'm not ar**d if he goes or stays,but makes his mind up ,and let's get the Club moving g forward again.

Ian, another problem could be that if he stays, many fans wouldn't have any confidence in him,and consequently,they would keep away from the club. Me personally, i want a successful rugby club in this town, and i will be there come what may. BTW - It wasn't me with the bat and balls.

Maybe bankrupt himself to give us a better team than WE can afford ?

I've no idea what Derek's plans for the future are , and most certainly till this season is over I don't care what they as long as we have a team turn out till then

Right in that case , let me sort it for you , the club is ' Sporting Club Leigh ' which is a Limited Company incorporated back in 2002/3 , it isn't Leigh Centurions , so if the club was to go bust ( which is nobodies business except the shareholders ) it will be Sorting club Leigh , NOT Leigh Centurions

Now then if the owner/s , new or old decide to change the clubs operating name , that is their perogative , but if a new company was formed to run the proffessional RL club in Leigh they could I am sure still use Leigh Centurions

So why put they ' wouldn't ' be able to continue using that name ?

Maybe the current owner will decide to stay and call us Leigh Bannanas , it would be up to him/them

You've asked a question and gave an answer there. What i actually mean is ,the way the club has gone in a downward spiral with him as the main honcho,folk wouldn't have the confidence in him continuing being at the club, and would not attend. I could be wrong,but a lot of folk are very bitter with his running of the club. I am alluding to whether we have a club for next year and onwards. As for this season,we have 6 games left which i sincerely hope we can fill.

Like i said - i want a successful rugby club in this town too,the rest of this season and beyond, and i will be there come what may.

A downward spiral ? , from when ? , when we couldn't pay our part time team , and Derek wrote a cheque to pay the wages ? , from then ?

Seems to me we've been successful since he took over , or has our season in SL all been a dream ?

Time to stop all speculating , let Derek get on with doing what he needs to do , enjoy our remaining games , support the players wearing the shirt and see what happens at the end of the season

When he was bloody minded, and wouldn't accept NJ resignation after the Widnes game last year,and was adamant that he was the right man for the job so he could keep on interfering which he doesn't do now coz KP won't let him. Thankfully the fans pressurised NJ into resigning after the Toulouse game,and then he had the audacity to call the fans despicable. Oh,and that day cost him a 7.5k fine for his behaviour on SM,and that was after putting that game back an hour which aggrieved quite a few fans. I could go on.

Giving players 2 year contracts, when not knowing what League we would be in ,paying KC a fair few quid.

Who of any decent standing do you suggest would take a one year contract, or even a 2 year with a failure clause in it

I'll give you KC, sold him a good un there. Without him I reckon we would have had a good chunk of last of seasons squad and be rubbing our hands in the M8's looking at some SL teams performances

Ian, what i am unsure about is,the 700k & 500k we received. We had to spend that money on players,but did we have to spend it all this season? If we did,you can't blame degsey for spending it,but you can for not spending it wisely. We had a decent enough squad at the end of last season,and i just never understood the culling of that squad which we could've kept more players, and that consequently meant we had to recruit, and dish out 2 year contracts because 1 year contracts wouldn't have been accepted. BTW - It was Marwan who recommended KC to Degsey.

Col , the majority of the playing squad were given 2 year contracts ,which couldn't be honoured which is why a large percentage left,I suppose others like Hutchy, Reynolds ,Dawson, and Evans stayed because they could better the contracts they are on , or couldn't find alternative clubs to go to,

I agree about the players not wanting to take a contract with a failure clause in it, but the person who handed out the contracts shouldn't moan if the plans fail,after all he is the ONLY one at fault.

Derek, I'm not privy to who recommended KC to Derek so I can't comment on that,I'm not sure about the timescale for spending the Central Funding money of the parachute payment,but it caused average playing be paid very good wages,not the players fault, but the Management.
As for the breaking up of the squad, that must be Jukesys idea, I'm sure if KC was at the Club then, hindsight is a wonderful thing, losing at Barrow at the beginning of the season was the start of the bad run, but how did lose at home to Fev and Toulouse?

No that isn't what you were getting at , if it was you'd have posted " I think we should change our name " , not we will have to change our name

" talk of a name change " , by who ? , who told you ? , Derek ? ' if not then you'll believe anything
