Unfortunately, When a club has a gobby chairman and some ( not majority) supporters who say the things they do the rest of the supporters have to put up with winding up when the team of stars can't beat Batley. Leigh should still finish top but a team of stars isn't always better than a team of 100%-ers who just get on with it.

Well for that you've only got your glorious owner to thank for stiching you up with daft predictions. Everyone's going to lose the odd game, but only one idiot in rugby league claimed his side would go unbeaten....then to lose the 1st game just makes it funnier for everyone who's not a leigh fan. It'll still be bulls and leigh 1 and 2 with the order to be determined largely by our 3 games against each other. You'll just have to let the trolls have this day.

Fax won their first game in 2003 and then went on to lose every other game that season. It's just possible that you could do just the same in reverse!

It was "only" against Whitehaven today (albeit they had a couple of Widnes dual-reg players), but Fax were impressive today. Not just because of the points they scored, but also around their defence and coordination as a team even though it was only the 1st game of the season. The team spirit in the camp was evident to see across the board, including our new signings. A record-equalling (for Fax) points tally for that player you all love to hate (Ste Tyrer) as well.



What made me laugh was that Duckman commented about DB making "daft predictions", and then followed it up with a prediction of his own that there were only Leigh and the Bulls in it for the top 2 this year! Let's see...

On Rangi Chase, isnt Mcnally a half back turned full back? How come no one complains when he is picked there? Maybe the rumours about Chase having to play every game are true but your new coach felt he had to show some loyalty to the old guard. After all I cant see Brierley and Chase working, it simply leaves no one capable of taking you round the park.

McNally has played at FB for a few years and is still learning now. Rangi struggled with high balls against Wigan, so putting him at FB on a crap day at Batley was never a good idea

Well that's one mistake out of the way for Jukesy

He now realises plan A is no use on a bad weather day, on a small uneven pitch and a ref who doesn't allow a fast game. Same will be seen at Dewsbury, Fax Haven and various other venues this year. We lost the game, then won it then threw it away today.

It's inevitable that so many come on here to have a laugh after being subjected to comment after comment from your fans on our own forums telling us how good you are and how you'll go unbeaten in the regular season. It is very funny.

If ever I hijack one of your threads to talk about the wonder that is Bradford then I'd expect a similar kind of response when we lose (and we will).

Given you chair's and previous coach's behaviour and proclamations, willingly supported across the media by some of the club's fans are only ever going to attract such a response. You've followed rugby long enough to know that.

I can see and accept where you are coming from. However, in the interests of accuracy, as far as I'm aware, our chairman =#FF0000Michael Norris hasn't been banging on about how wonderful we are. He tends to maintain a dignified silence. Our owner and Football Director however, has been making some wild predictions about this season. In some ways therefore, it's good to take a defeat early on, to remove that pressure! (providing that Oldham don't spoil our party next week!

) Again, in the interests of accuracy, our former coach went public to ridicule the suggestion of an unbeaten season, adding that it was most disrespectful to our opponents to suggest that. Our owner's comments are probably pinned to every Championship (and SL) dressing room door!

As for Batley? They played us very well, and if they continue with that form, they'll upset a few more Championship teams. Of course, that won't cause such a stir because, as far as I know, nobody from those clubs has said they are going to go unbeaten this season! Mind you, that dream lives on for Bradford, Sheffield, Dewsbury, Halifax, London - and BATLEY!!

He's right. I've never been remotely interested in a Batley result before, nor a Leigh result either, but I enjoyed yesterdays.
