To be fair ?? These will be the criteria that were changed at the end of the season so that only Widnes met them. Criteria that will be changed again when it siuts the RL to fast track whatever poorly supported wacky foregn team into the promised land of SL.

It is comments like these I understand the least. Given that the new criteria (if they are new) are based on turnover, crowds, league positions et al, if Widnes are the only club which meet them, it must be because we are the best club to go up. Don't have a go at us because you don't like licensing, we didn't bring it in. But given that nobody has said we are going up but everyone assumes so because we meet the current criteria the best, what are you moaning about? You have lower crowds, you have no youth, you don't have the turnover and lest we forget, you should have been relegated last season, have not made one single final and should be in no position to whinge considering. I can understand today's winner lamenting the fact that they'd be getting promoted now (although who knows what the table would have looked like if we were under those rules?) but you? You should be hopeful we do make it as opposed to Toulouse. It shows you the RFL on this one case at least are true to their word and you will know what you have to have achieved next time. And as for the stab about our backer, we had the best crowds and a fully functional youth setup (not to mention making finals regularly) under the old backer. It wasn't our fault he was a crook. We've been rewarded with the backer we deserved.

Honestly, when the criteria are based on such fundamental things and we beat everyone on every single front how can anyone moan that they are suited to us? Should the crowds criteria be for clubs greater than 1,500 but no greater than 2,250?

Fax shot themselves in the foot with their published final game attendance a week or so after the ave attendance criteria was made public. IMO this was just two fingers to the RFL. I think never a truer word spoken than your 'hate the game'

Tbf Halifax chairman has mentioned the 2,500 figure for months now so it clearly wasn't new... Though they would of been clever to fudge 2/3 attendances rather than just one as would be far less obvious!

One of them is that a club should not have had an insolvency event in the last three seasons.Cynically Widnes had such an event the day after the grand final.

You are bang wrong. Your personal opinion on the matter is irrelevant. We have brand new owners now and have been fully solvent throughout the current license period. Our current owner offered to guarantee our solvency with a bond of £1m before the previous ones were awarded.

We have already been punished for that insolvency. TWICE. It kept us out last time, and we were also docked points for it. Only someone desperate would hold it against us now especially considering our current financial state.

This is pretty obviously linked but with the salary cap what it is and the crowds what they are it's no doubt we would be in good health with any competent owner at the helm.

As your accounts prove, are the detailed accounts out yet? Theres 31 other RL club chairmen looking to find out how to make 40% profit on turnover

Not qualified to do that Chris. However from reading the various boards there are a few people waiting to do just that. Either way there is no point, SOC is not a millionaire for nothing, and he certainly wouldn't fudge accounts that were available for public consumption now would he.

You will be in SL, and as someone posted elsewhere you will have far more to worry about than us lot whinging about the game in general. Can't wait for the next 4 years of glorified friendlies

My opinion is based on the criteria as set down by the rl.Why wait til after GF?Any dubious offer by your owner and your current smoke and mirrors financial state is irrelevant.

Its Gateshead that justifies our gratitude. The response from the RFL was a no-brainer.

I bet you only posted that as you know we usually beat Widnes home and away and your bunch of no hopers thought you might have had a sporting chance against a Gateshead amateur side with their primarily shockable fan.

Lets be honest here, the whole licence/franchise system is a complete farce. There should still be P&R automatic for the best and worst teams over the season. And clubs should not be allowed to sign players until the season is over, that way the promoted team will have a chance to sign some quality to assist them to try and stay up, unlike in the past when all the players available had been signed up by the time the promoted team knew they were up. YOU SHOULDN'T GET PROMOTED IF YOU FINISH 5TH IN THE LEAGUE!!!

There are none so blind etc etc give him a job at the Royal Bank of Scotland he will be able to draw a great pension when the taxpayer has to bail them out again and Cameron knows it will make sense.
