It really is a complete waste of everyone's money trying to establish a RL team in Wales,why the authorities cannot see the blindingly obvious is an utter mystery to The Watcher.This is just another episode in an already over running comedy of errors.

I was discussing this at work this afternoon, and as I said then, I dare say we'd all say less if it was in an untried area, but the "Welsh Experiment" has failed time and time again.

You should have got one of todays national (important word to RL) newspapers and seen what benefits there are. There is a much bigger picture to consider......
Hopefully Celtic will get through this. If multinational and international companies can be brought to their knees in the current climate then I think sporting clubs get effected too surely.

Also the "Welsh Experiment" has not been tried again and again. The last attempts tried where watered down, half hearted attempts in a time when we played in winter against the other major sports in a part time low budget, low profile sport......Its a lot different now, Full time, Summer, Proper TV deal etc etc has changed all that and gives them a better chance in Wales. Wales needs time, and someone(s) to keep promoting the game down there. 10 years down the line Wales/England/France tournemonts could be the reward......and a more battled hardened England actually standing up to be counted against the convicts
You could say that because loads of clubs have again and again gone under in the "heartlands" then the game is failing in those areas too.

Rugby League just exports a tree and doesn't check the garden first....

There are many trees that grow in gardens from around the world that wasn't around in this country before......plant them and look after them and they eventually flourish on their own in this country.
I am doing overhaul of my garden at moment which is reason for my posted analogy.

If I planted a coconut tree in my garden I'd bet my backside on Canal Street it wouldn't last more than 6 months.

Anyway back on thread......Celtic and RFL are dirty cheats, RFL are giving money to clubs outside heartland.......Richard Lewis should resign, Celtic should spend 50 years in wilderness and do it the right way, Celtic have been in SL all of a few months and still no squad of 13 Welsh players, there will never be interest in RL down there so don't show em, RL is a northern game, we should break away, Sky are ruining RL........

Seems the franchise "process" is being laid bare for all to make there minds up as to just how in depth the RFL choose to look at some clubs.

Surely any hope of any further "franchise selection" should be dead in the water (or at least allowed a right to appeal).

The impetus for this 'venture' is much driven by Sky, the RFL wouldn't touch Wales with a barge Pole normally after all, they've been trying for eighty years or more to establish RL in Wales without success! With Pro Union now 'legal' in Wales RL will never flourish anywhere in that country.

For a Century or more RL has brought 'Welsh' players to our game by offering finacial security. Finacial security is now available within their own game of Union hence, there are few Welsh players in RL now. In years gone by, Welshmen have been able to play RL in Wales at various 'pioneer' clubs however, even getting paid to play in their 'own' country wasn't enough to make it a success! We now see Crusaders in a financial mess and their Aussie imports facing immigration problems!

For what its worth I'd love RL to be played all over Britain but some reasons the current welsh franchise WONT work is because :-

They hadnt even played 100 professional games before being dropped into SL

They play at a home ground that everybody knows isnt up to standard.

Theres now talk of moving to various locations all over Wales to play home games at.

London Broncos/Fulham etc equally moved all over London to various venues and wondered why they lost fans. Imagine watching Celtic in South Wales being a passionate fan to find next year they may play in North Wales!!


UNBELIEVABLE SHAMBLES and for what its worth I dont think we should of got in before them right now without doubt Widnes should be playing in the league.

ONE MORE QUESTION, if the RL are helping Celtic out financially at the moment then didnt they dock Widnes 8-10 points for going into administration and use that as the sole excuse for them not being granted a license? Wonder if Widnes would of gone into administration if they had the help Celtic are getting?
