Admitedly trying to market the Championship is difficult as the league is viewed as unattractive and ambitions cannot be realised as at the moment Promotion and Relgation doesn't happen - I'm not sure that will remain in place as the game looks to be at another crossroads.
The amount of people who live within 15-20 mins drive of Leigh is huge - its a huge area to tap into.
The club needs to be in the schools selling sport as the social benefit it is - heck we have a state of the art RL stadium second to none and yet I'd imagine the kids still hang around on corners - get the schools to buy into a community and the youngsters are the future fans, not many swop clubs down the line.

This season Leigh has been forced to turn a corner but every new initiative put in place MUST have a 5 year lifespan, way too many boom & bust ideas not given time to gell have occured at Leigh.
Lets allocate a certain type of objective to a person - if thats a volunteer fine , equally if its a professional then fine - its needs a accountable trail.
For instance if programme sales are down I would approach Alan and ask him why and then sit down and go through what we are doing wrong - what could be improved (do we sell it in Town centre shops for example, do schools, collegues get any etc, etc)*Using Alan as a example - NOT saying sales are down BTW.

I actually feel Leigh are pointing in the right direction but have a long way to go off the field but for the first time in years I actually think the club has realised its 'sat on its hands' for years and with quite a bit of on field success have achieved very little off field.
We need to make Leigh the best club in our league and the place to be on matchday - ALL parties have to pull together or back off, argueing is healthy but if it drags on it achieves nothing.

1,800 is a realistic aim now (thats getting on double what a lot of clubs get in this league), however lets use that as a minimum and start to aim high - the potential is huge , we just need to realise it.

Mish , no disrespect here , although I just know it will be taken 'personally ' , the club could quite easilly operate without any of the tasks you highlighted , without income , it wont

The O/P was , how will the club finance itself , a kids club, internet radio and a match programme wont fund the shortfall the club will have , they are all great positives , and all the work put into them is appreciated , but ultimatley we need ' income ' lots of it

They obviously aren't!! We were in the ground before half seven on Friday, and couldn't get hold of a programme for love nor money!!

I actually used the TD as an example of people with business acumen on the clubs doorstep who by definition of being corporate members clearly possess the key ingredients, ie they are fans of the club and in the main their businesses will fund their memberships.

Sometimes you have more success by asking people to get involved rather than waiting for them to put their hand up and of course they wouldn't be paid, however more difficult to say no in those circumstances!

No I don't take it personally and I understand where you're coming from, but what I don't understand is why The Prophet thinks it's either 'them or us'? Why could we all not sit around the same table, does he think he's too good for us? And why, hasn't he offered his services to help the club in their hour of need?

So if you're already doing your bit what have you got against the PSG doing their bit? I think you have the totally wrong impression of what the PSG do, but seeing as I've already posted what they do and you haven't bothered to read it, it's not my fault if you've got hold of the wrong end of the stick.

No one has ever suggested that the PSG is the saviour of the club but as a group, we each do our own bit to help out just like the NSFG do - why do you have such a big problem with that?

I tire of trying to point out that the rationale behind projects like the radio station, is to get the name/brand of Leigh Centurions 'out there' beyond the confines of LSV, with the aim of generating extra revenue from sponsorship and advertising.

That implies we have a 'plan' to generate more income, from sources other tha our current Fantastically generous sponsors. Indeed, if you study the CV's of our most recent additions to the Board, you will see that they are both highly successful business people and have a wealth of major clients in their portfolios.

As for the two poor maligned accountants, I feel their role is being totally misunderstood. (Sorry Steve, this isn't all aimed at you - it's just convenient to post it all in one go) They are actively involved in looking at our current cost and income bases, with the objective of ensuring our budget is realistic and we don't over-spend on it. (we daren't do that!) More importantly, they are looking at the governance within the club - something that has been severely lacking in previous years - to ensure we comply with legal, financial and RFL guidelines. They are not actively involved in raising funds.

And, to end on a personal note, I would argue that the programme does make a contribution to the finances - it made around £10000 [size=150PROFIT [/sizelast season, and is in line to do likewise this season. We can't afford to ignore anything that makes a reasonable profit, even if the work is being done by amateurs.

You should have a trip to specsavers I haven't moderated on here for weeks, though I still have the power if I wish to use it, if the fools on here wish to argue amongst themselves thats down to them and nothing at all to do with me.

WHere would the club be without, Trevor , the current board, LISA, the LOTTERY, TOUCHDOWN CLUB, PSG and all the other volunteers like DON etc who all help, and contribute to keeping the club going.
Anyone who has any sense can see all this silly bickering is getting the club no where.
I don't for one think that a ST is the answer neither,unless we are giving up on our dream of SL , as there are no ST's in SL as its not allowed.

So all these groups can meet and have their own little meetings whenever, but isn't it time we all sat down together and pulled together.

Any fan whether he pays his one pound a week to the lottery or the one who is a touchdown Gold member, or even the one that in the lottery, LISA and supports the club everyway he can, they are all important as eact other, this is IMHO of course!!!!!!!

I have read all the post on here with interest .First of all I would like to thank wholeheartedly the people who have saved our club from going under in fact can't thank you all enough

Secondly I would think that the club has volunteers doing important things at the club because there is no money to pay for the said roles .

Correct Lynda. There are a lot of people trying their best to help.

There is also no reason for bickering and being personal, I myself have had heated discussions with Starbug in the past, but whatever disagreements we have had I have no doubt in my mind that he has the clubs best interests at heart.

I think that applies to pretty much everyone who has tried and has helped the club in whatever way they could.

The individual groups do need to set a date and all sit round together and have a proper discussion about what their roles are.

apart from only one or two "digs" i find this thread excelent because as i read it, there are a few people who are hard working, passionate and seem to have the time, ideas and ability to "make things happen". It does look to me that these same people are getting or are already frustrated at the descisions that are, or are not being taken. I read that as a possitive, because it shows they care or they think they have a stratagy that should or could be benefical to the growth of Leigh centurions. I think a "clear the air" or "organisation stratagy" meeting should be called including all these bodies (TDC LISA chair people Community Dept/Trust/Apprentices NSFG) to Synchronize their efforts to complement each other giving them a very big, fecking huge net to cast to feed the club for many lifetimes, but it does take Dialogue and i for one can not see why this shouldnt be achieved if the passion and belief on this thread is anything to go on .

Unfortunatly the club dont want to work with the Community Dept/Trust , it would seem
