| Perhaps LISA could run with this idea, it could set up a standing order for example £10 a week & have the same numbers each week, if the winnings were split 50/50 between members & Leigh RLFC it may entice more people to join, therefore more tickets & possibly more prizes.

| I was being facetious, using a quote people had said to me in a previous LISA thread.
Anyway it won’t get LISA’s membership approval in time for this Friday, so c’mon who’s in?

| SAME NUMBERS?
Ill ask at the next meeting about this idea, however a family member of mine recently found some money and handed it to the police after the given time no one claimed it so, they was given it by the police.
They found that they couldnt spend it as it wasnt "theirs" so they bought premium bonds with it and since then they have won quite a few amounts.
With Premuim bonds the money always belongs to you you can cash them in anytime but the money you win is profit maybe LISA could do asomething like this , just a thought?

I am not sure that is too good an idea. Over 12 months you might get a return of 2% on average and although there is a chance of a big prize the odds would be astronomical.
For me I think the stock market offers much better returns particularly as the world economy is coming out of recession.
Now back to our team and LISA membership. Somehow we need to raise more funds to buy better players. Any ideas ? Example 1500 Leythers instead of putting a pound a week on the lottery pay it to LISA instead. We might get some back row forwards with pace not to mention a centre and a playmaker.

| I call you lot but on a serious note the OP idea, while a little farfetched does have some merit, I like it.
Personally something like a leagues club in the town centre could be a fantastic idea but i'd go more along the lines of sy bar. Let's be honest there's not a lot in Leigh at night time for people a little older and who don't want their heads caved in. Somewhere that, during the day has a gym and recreation centre, all sy of course and by night, a members club (free to season ticket holders) with some entertainment and cheap real ales by night.
I don't know the logistics of it all but in Leigh, I genuinely believe something like that could be a right money spinner

The Watcher is of the opinion that only individuals can purchase Premium Bonds, so LISA being an organisation would not be allowed to hold any.

Agreed (in part at least).
Ozzie clubs have shown that the best/only business model is to rub the business to genenreate revenue regardless of results and attendance numbers. The oz skew towards leagues clubs is more a reflection of their severely restricted alcohol license culture... Engadine, where my missus is from, is a suburb near Cronulla with a population of around 40,000 (i.e. as big as Leigh). But the ONLY licenced bars are the RSL, the pub, and the Bowling Club. Not surprisingly, these are popular premises! Imaging if Leigh only had three pubs.
Add to that, each is more like a community centre than a UK pub, with a restaurant, several bars, pool rooms and poker (machine) rooms. The leagues clubs work on the same basis - alcohol, food and gambling in vast buildings where there are very few places to drink or bet (or eat cheaply).
As too many landlords in England will testify, making money from running a pub is not easy in the current climate. A Leythers bar might not be the answer (we're not always great at running rugby clubs, so a pishup in a brewery might not be our best plan). But the principle - earn cash for the club regardless of the performances - is very sound. A better bet than a lottery ticket anyway.

| More expensive to set up than a lottery ticket though
And the way Leigh's going it'll soon only have three pubs.

| But the bars in Leigh are disgraceful.
You've got a nice wetherspoons but for example DW gyms make a fortune, if you could get something like this in the town centre with a nice entertainment resteraunt and bar combined, think it could really work. I bet rates aren't exactly a fortune in Leigh, no offence
