| a player of hobsons experience will pay divedens to the likes of danny meekin and john cookson among others who may need someone to guide them along the right lines to becoming a good pro player
it showed that we missed him in the pre season games

| What s definately missing atm is someone who can offload up the middle atm we dont seem to be offloading hardly ever."Grunt" forwards are ok but we need someone who can break a tackle and offload, thats why I prefer Cooky with Hobbo and C Hill.

Me too Kath. Chris and Hobbo got through a lot of work yesterday. Does anyone know how long Mike Morrison is going to be out and what are his injuries? At least James Taylor can rest for a couple of weeks. I would like to see Cookie start against LM. Get his confidense back.

| Sorry to derail the Hobson thread (who's performance I have already complimented on another thread) but whilst this has evolved to the subject of injuries, does anyone also know how long Armistead will be out for?

You canāt off load if no-ones there, thatās what let us down yesterday somewhat very little second phase, something that Durbin has done so well at in recent weeks.
Meekin, Morrison, Taylor, Armistead even Marsh would get a run at prop before Cookson for me.

| Dear me. Two players that I had completely forgot about. Armistead and Marsh. Any newsw on them? Marshy is a big lad to try and stop with a decent kicking game.

Agreed Cookson seems to lack effort a lot of the time in comparison to our other forwards.

| As I mentioned on here yesterday, I thought Hobson was absolutely magnificent. Certainly seems to have had a kick up the arris after the Fev debacle and he clearly agrees that it's the last chance saloon for him.
As for Cookson, he's falling back in the queue simply because of the quality performances of the other forwards.

| NK got a subbinbg wrong for Hobson that resulted in a try, when we forced to drop out Hobson had gone down with cramp in the next set he was picked out and ran around for the try.
Hobbo should be doing 3x10 min stints as impact, but for that to happen we need C Hill, Morrison, Taylor and Armistead in the mix.

| i think the difference between hobson this season to last is that hes taken the role of helping the young players and team in general and i think hes trying to cut the red mist out because he knows he is no good to them if he is sin binned or red carded and if he carries on playing like he as upto now i think this will be his best season for leigh

Noticed at the end of the London game he went straight to Meekin, slapped him on the back, and was demonstrating to him how to hold the ball, and a quick shuffle (either that or he was dancing ), and was still with him as they walked off.

| firstly hobson was formally cautioned over the sending off at fev, yes he got no ban (thank god) but there was obviously something in his actions that needed to be looked at, hopfully hobbo and nk can sort it out, i too thought he did well yesterday, against a big aggresive pack in haven, if he can keep his cool then he can be a good member of the squad. i agree we need a bit more mungral in our pack.

Hobson/Meekin was one of those I was refering to.

| Hobson was superb yesterday and despite his odd crazy moments there is no denying his experience which seems to help settle the team and helps us along. He certainly led by example yesterday and led the line well when on the field. Nothing daft just simple hard work.
As for Cookson, give him a couple of games in the reserves to prove his fitness and overall performance because at the moment Danny Meekin is streets ahead of him. Another who had a good solid game yesterday.
Hopefully Hobson can stick to playing the sort of game he played yesterday for the rest of the season.

Back for the start of the season I think.
As for Hobson I can only agree with what's been said on here. Took the ball in hard and pride and laid a very good platform which we took advantage of very well. He stayed calm in defence and tackled well and we missed him when he wasn't on.
Hobson MOTM for me.

| Agree completely about Hobbo - excellent game yesterday, one of his best since he's been with us IMHO. Tough to choose between him & Higson for MOTM for me - thought they both worked really hard.

those two along with donlan outstanding for leigh yesyerday.
best moment donlon floated pass to ridyard when he realised he was never going to win the foot race with calvert.
wonder why no super league clubs have ever tried to maximise calverts speed. his defence must be really awful.

his speed is awesome, when he gets clear, its a certain four pointer
i think its his inability to beat a man one on one, rather than any defensive frailties that have stopped him progressing to s/l
or he might just have a good job with a well known certain west cumbrian outfit like a lot of other players
