With the players on board at Leigh this year Im sure there will be an explosion one way or another. Leigh fans are either going to have a truly spectacular year or one that they are going to want to forget. Theres some massive talent but theres also some massive egos and problems to go with it. Never a dull moment supporting teams like Fax and Leigh(excluding 3 years under Harrison which were pretty dull).

I wonder what sort of money that has freed up? Out of them you would think only Penky & Barlow and maybe Wilkes would have been in the 10K+ bracket. Maybe 30-40K between the rest? 50K max. Realistically Harrison will not have signed for less than 20K and maybe the same for Patterson although that might be been generous so what is freed up could be swallowed up by those two players alone.

If Rangi has some sort of payoff then he may come a bit cheaper than usual but terminated contracted suggests no payoff so what do you reckon for Rangi about 30k+? Personally I wouldnt shed loads of numbers from your squad and would look to get rid of one high paid player be that Moi Moi, Hock, Brierley, or Ridyard.

Brierley is obviously the player you get cash for as well as freeing up space and Chase just takes his spot. Ridyard has lots of interest just waiting for the go ahead from Leigh that he can leave, no money for him but probably on decent money although probably not enough to be a straight swap. Im not sure Brierley and Chase work though as neither could organize a up in a brewery. Hock you would think would need a big payoff and Im not sure where he could go, same for Moi Moi, big payoff and not many teams could justify the money for what he provides.

Thats as an outsider looking in and maybe Leigh have plenty of space on the cap somehow and are just biding their time to make an announcement that 'everybody' knows.

I have a very good idea what part-time championship players earn. I would be lying if I said I wernt speculating what SL players earn.

Edit: Ive added in part time above. My bad I actually forgot that Leigh were full time so their contracts are going to be more than your normal championship players.

I would imagine salaries are based on the actual given value of a player.So if a player like Rangi is worth 90k,then he'd be looking for a salary of 45/50k per annum,half of what his value is.

The RFL is meant to have the ability to set someones contract value (like a tribunal sort of thing) with regards to the cap if they feel it is markedly low compared to their actual worth. Although I've not heard of it being used before.

I don't think any club would announce the signing of a player without a signature.

Probably, but I am sure Dewsbury would want some form of compensation as they have possibly missed out on halves they could have signed. With the loan being arranged they would have dipped out of the market for HBs

While Leigh Centurions as a Club never officially announced the signing of Rangi ,didn't Derek say on GMR after the Widnes game we HAD signed him?

The most likely scenario which fits is the "he has signed a contract but it is dependent on the RFL registering it" scenario. Which is where the discussions with the RFL come into play.

That is the most unlikely scenario based on Derek's interview in the rugby papers
