As I suspected, most on here just don't listen to me anymore

To be honest I still think this stinks. A professional businessman like John Roddy would not resign seemingly on the spot, announce it himself on Twitter and catch the other members of the BoM on the hop. This doesn't ring true. He would at least give a week's notice of his intent, time to get out a united statement.

We most certainly are and no disrespect was intended.

If you check back on one of the posts on the earlier pages from here (via Maurice) you will see that JR informed the BoM last week of his intentions, so didn't 'catch them on the hop'. There's never a good time or manner in which to announce these things. Let's focus on the fact that the club, as a whole, is in a much stronger position than it was when JR first became involved with the rest of the current BoM. The club is strong and united, the BoM are strong and united. Let's move on and get behind the lads on Sunday at Dewsbury!

Back on topic, and apologies for sending the thread off topic by rising to the above idiot, Mr Roddy is a big loss to us in the fact that it has been placed on record previously that he is held in such high regard at the RFL. In that respect they are big shoes for somebody to follow. Over to you Andy...

A strange conclusion to draw on a post highlighting a familiar scenario at many sports clubs evertwhere, and if I had been told something ( which I hadnt ) , I certainly wouldnt have told anybody else, or cryptically put something on another clubs forum

Nice fella John Roddy, shame to see him leave, does this now make him somebody's ' cronie ' ?

If it's what the fans wanted and indeed the board then I would have to seriously consider the role but there are factors that may not make this possible sadly. The only thing I will promise you guys is I will always be a leyther and will always be true to what is right and stand up for the best interests of the club.

100% respect for John he's been a great figurehead for the club and is a nice man with good values.

His legacy as Chairman of the BOM and main focus in his time with us was repairing, rebuilding and growing relationships most notably with the RFL who have recently commented on how they have never seen Leigh ran so professionally and also with LSV who during Johns tenure have really worked hard to make the partnership flourish. We can not ever afford to go backwards or return to the past!

I have exchanged messages with JR and we will be sharing a pint on the North Stand together very soon and I'm sure he will always have a soft spot for our great club in his heart.

Whoever takes the reigns will be a figurehead as the board shares business duties but in my opinion needs to be someone who the fans relate to, understand, respect and trust and can be a long term appointment now and not just a short term stop gap to give us the continuity over the coming years.

If you read this John thanks for your friendship and your efforts, it was a pleasure and can't wait to see you soon mate.
